The Mikargy Hotel is very basic. It is on a very busy and noisy road. The pool is very good with lots of sunbeds. The bedrooms are very hot. We asked if we could have a fan but there weren't any available for 3 days!! So we bought one or it would have been impossible to sleep. The bedding was not changed all week and the towels were changed once. The room was fairly clean and the bin was emptied every day. Ivan was brilliant very friendly and helpful, the pool man was extremely rude and lazy. The breakfast was disgusting one day we had stale bread and mouldy cheese and ham so we ate out after that. We enjoyed our holiday but wouldn't go to this hotel again.

I had a great time at the hotel and in Kardamena in general. From reading the brochure I was expecting a vile hotel with families and couples. To my surprise the hotel was great with plenty of young people. Like others have said the breakfast was just rolls but it was fresh. If you’re like me, you will not attend breakfast anyway because you'd have gone clubbing the night before.
The rooms were a good size with the maid in every 2 days except weekends. The shower was a bit rubbish but this is at all the hotels in Greece, not just Mikargy. The pool was amazing there was always plenty of sunloungers and parasols in the day. The only rubbish thing is you cannot bring anyone back to the hotel that isn't staying there. Unless you want to be adventurous and have them climb up the balcony.
Kardamena is really good for young people. The bars are really cheap. On average you pay 5 euros for a spirit and mixer. The spirit fills about 3/4 of the glass. Then you get 2-5 free shots. The disappointing thing is the music goes off in all the bars at 12am. Although most nights everyone’s that drunk you don't even notice. There are just 2 clubs: Starlight and Status. Starlight is only good if there is an event going on. The foam parties are absolutely amazing, I never been to a foam party like one. Status is great.
The beach is o.k., it's a bit pebbly in places. I recommend you go on the watersports especially the jet-skis. The restaurants are all really good as well. You always get a free drink and the staff are so helpful. You always get really large portions as well.
Overall I think this hotel is good for young people. Not for families at all, the children's pool was rubbish.

We stayed at Mikargy for 1 week and after reading the other comments about this I’m shocked as we had a lovely holiday.
Argy the owner is a lovely lady who can’t actually do enough for you. It is run non commercial and is one of the best hotels in Kardamena. I’ve noticed people complaining about sanitation etc but it is like this in Greece everywhere, you have to put tissue etc in a bag, rather than down the loo due to the drains and yes, the bathroom is a wet room so the shower just has a small curtain around it but that’s typically Greek too.
The bathrooms are not the poshest but are clean and yes, if you don’t get a shower till late in the morning/evening the water can be cold due to the amount of people using them but so what! As long as you get a shower...
The breakfast is typically Greek Coffee/Tea and rolls with ham and cheese so we rarely ate Breakfast, but down the road on the front there are loads of restaurants/bars serving English Fry Ups for about £2.50 so you can always have an early brunch there.
The rooms didn’t have air con but do have black out blinds as well as curtains to the balcony doors so if you remember to close them when you’re out, they do keep the rooms cool.
There is no TV/Fridge etc but when the food is cheap enough out and about you don’t need it and as for TV...your on your hols....watch Eastenders when you get home! LOL
The bedroom part is lovely, clean and plenty of spare pillows etc if you need it. The cleaner is so friendly and actually thanked me as I made my own beds (I always do) she was so lovely and we actually bought her some sweets on our last day and she was so overwhelmed at the gift! (They cost us about 80p!).
The hotel bar is well stocked and open 24hrs, the reception has safes for a small charge, and there’s a lovely lounge area.
Outside the grounds are kept immaculate and the pool is wonderful, the loungers are plentiful and the poolside cafe does a great burger!
So all in all, a good well rounder....the bathrooms are just like any others in Greece so very basic but CLEAN and the rooms are comfortable, clean and have large balconies.
The Breakfast isn’t what we are used to but the Bar and Pool are fantastic. You must remember the Greek way of life is very different and it is a family run establishment so everyone always wants to help you. Argy is a lovely lady and she will tell you whatever you need to know....she even bought me a 'lucky eye' charm for the baby I was expecting at the time to pin to her blankets when she was born!
If you get to the seafront on an evening, visit the bar called Pegasus....the husband and wife team who own it are lovely...very entertaining and they also own a shop which rents out Scooters and Safes so they are very helpful. Nemo's restaurant is lovely for food and the Pizzeria in town is mmm delicious! Kardamena is such a lovely unspoilt place and we are definitely going again and again!

After moving here from the Plousia apartments which were hell we were just glad to get a good nights sleep, which we did. It was very quiet, although I do agree with some of the comments about there being no fridge in the room. I had a two year old who wanted juice through the night which had gone warm, although the owner was lovely and said we could keep his juice and bottled water in her fridge but it was a bit awkward at 3am in the morning. She also let us have our own cereal for breakfast time as it was bread rolls, cheese, ham and jam which kids won't eat.
Our rooms were cleaned most days but the cleaner was not very happy if you tried to get in your room while she was cleaning it. The rooms had lovely views from the back. The pool was fine although the toddlers pool was just like a large bath and was shut off some of the time. The owners were quite strict with not fetching drinks and food into the hotel area but after talking to the owner you could understand why. During the summer months it sounds like the english really take advantage and run riot round the hotel. Overall I don't think I would have booked this originally having children, self catering is more convenient but was a godsend after the Plousia and I found the lady of the hotel very nice.

First of all don’t believe what the other reviews say. Before we went to
Kos we were panicking because of the reviews we had read but the hotel Mikargy was just perfect for us!
There was a group of us, 6 girls and we loved our hotel apartment. Yes the showers were cold but that was appreciated so much as it was so hot. The fans are not noisy they are just fine and turn out cheaper than u think to hire them.
The breakfast yes is only a bread roll and ham and the hotel staff are friendly and the pool is amazing, by far the biggest in our area.
The strip of clubs and shops and restaurants is all 5 minutes walk. The clubs and bars are amazing. We had the time of our lives and are going back in September! Status is the club to be its wicked and liquid bar is amazing if you like speed garage like me.
I would defiantly advise the hotel and the area if you want to have the time of your life.

Mikary hotel is very well located, walking distance to bars, shops, harbour, and beaches.
The hotel is very clean with change of linen and towels a couple of times in the week we were there. The rooms are basic with no fridge or fan, which you can hire locally 7euros for 7 nights.
The showers are small very close to the loo, which are cold (but not freezing) but to be honest, with the weather as hot as it was (over 100 in the shade) who wants a hot shower anyway.
Breakfast is 2 bread rolls with jam, ham, and cheese, but this is a standard Greek breakfast.
The pool is tidy and large pool with enough sunbeds to go round, a real sun catch area.
You cannot take in drinks or food to the pool you bought outside the hotel or the man takes it off you. July is the nosiest month with all the students finishing exams and letting their hair down.
Excursions are best dealt with from locally and not the reps as there twice the price. Mozzies are about this year with force, so be warned. Hotel does provide a plug-in which you have to buy the tablets, but this is not enough.
Don’t listen to all the bad reviews, this is a lovely hotel, basic but friendly, and staff will help you with any request if they can. Enjoy your holiday.

The hotel itself is ok I suppose. The pool is what made it to be honest! I loved the pool and you could pretty much always get a sun lounger at any point in the day.
The room was a different story. Clean when we arrived but weren’t cleaned for the first four days when we decided to make a complaint. We were told it hadn't been cleaned because the spare key was "lost"!! My boyfriend got a rash due to how unsanitary it became!
Also, the lack of air conditioning contributed to this! I thought I was going to die of the heat to be honest! I couldn't sleep and at 40degrees it is difficult with only a measly fan to keep us cool.
The room is very basic but what else do you really need on a holiday? We spent minimal time in it to be honest.
Breakfast is a joke! They have a cheek to advertise as B&B! A slice of cheese, a slice of ham and a roll do not constitute a breakfast to me!
Great holiday, hotel could have been better though. Ivan who works the bar- great guy!

Shocking hotel. I stayed for 10 nights and didn’t have a single warm shower!
The staff were extremely rude and only 2 members spoke English.
Breakfast was appalling as were the bathrooms. The pool was the only positive aspect about the hotel- it is a decent size and clean enough.
Thomson rep was shocking and we officially complained when we got back.
Ok pool and good location, only things stopping this having a zero.
I would never go back, not even for free.

Kardamena is the best place I have EVER been to on holiday! The people are fantastic, beautiful food, fantastic nightlife if you want it, everything is just FAB!
When I first arrived at the Mikargy hotel I wasn't very impressed with the room (bearing in mind I was extremely tired)!
But, after walking around the island the Mikargy is one of if not the best hotel there! The rooms are very basic but spotlessly clean and the staff are soooo friendly! They will give you anything that you want. The shower is small and yes very often cold - but this is not the hotel it is Greece in general.
Please please don't be put off by the reviews as I have to admit a lot of them are not great! As for there being no fridge, TV, radio, telephone in the rooms - who cares! The bar is open 24 hours so you can get a cold drink at any time and who needs a TV on holiday?
You HAVE to go to 'BLUE NOTE' restaurant as this is the best food I have ever ever tasted! But beware the starters are like main courses! If you like good food, hot weather, nice people and an all round super holiday - Kos is the place to be!! TRUST ME!

First of all and most important of all DO NOT stay at the Mikargy hotel, it’s a complete and utter RIP OFF, unhelpful staff only become helpful when they see a Euro note being flashed in front of them.
Apparently the maid is not there to clean up after you, what’s the point of her being there then - what do we pay our money for?
Renting a Fan was a complete rip off 3 euros a night, you can hire a fan for 12 euros for 2 weeks from the local shops, but you are not allowed to bring them into your room. The rooms was pants, cold showers that you shared with the toilet, rock hard beds, dirty sheets.
Olympic Reps were no good, taking money from you and not booking you on trips, our two friends that came on holiday with us booked a day trip to Turkey they were advised that they did not need their Passports, but by luck they took them just in case, when they arrived at the port you could not go Turkey unless you had your Passports, a lot of people got sent back to their resorts.
Kardamena as a whole was a nice place. Night Life was alright, nothing special, as the old saying goes I’ve had better - the bar reps are so annoying.

The milkargy hotel.....We had cows in the field directly behind our room, the showers were nearly always freezing, there is no fridge to keep your bottles of drink etc cold.
The breakfast was appalling not that I ever went down to have it, no one did. A roll is all you apparently got. The man who works at the pool bar can be extremely rude at times and takes any drink bottles you bring into the hotel directly off you, there’s no air conditioning, just broken fans which you can hire.
The good points are that the pool is really nice, one of the nicest in the area. The location is quite good. The strip is only down the road. The hotel staff are really friendly at times, The Bulgarian bloke was the nicest who works at the bar.
The nightlife isn't all that, on the first night we arrived we was told that the music turns off at 12, when it turns off the atmosphere changes, then everyone heads to the clubs, there’s only a couple of clubs. Starlight and Status being the main ones, the bar strip is very narrow and it isn't that big.
Kardemana is a small clubby place, don't get me wrong I had a good time and met lots of people but it's not as good as other places like malia etc.

The room was very basic but we expected that. The staff we found to be very unpleasant and the lady in charge quite rude at times.
We paid for bed and breakfast. The first morning we went for breakfast we were handed a plate with 2 rock hard buns, marge, jam, 1 slice of spam folded over half a slice of processed cheese, diluted orange juice and a cup of tea. The buns disintegrated when the knife was inserted to cut in half, so putting butter and jam on was impossible.
The spam and cheese tasted disgusting as did the orange juice. The tea was like dishwater. There were no alternative foods offered not even fruit or yoghurt etc. The times of the breakfast were not suitable either. So for these reasons we ate at local restaurants.
Then there was the shower, we never had a hot shower the whole time we were there. It cold water really caught our breath. Another guest was asking me about the shower when the lady owner butted in quite rudely and said let it run for a while. If we had let it run for the whole 2 weeks it wouldn't have made the slightest difference.
As there was no air conditioning in the room it became unbearably hot and we had disturbed sleep every night. We asked for a fan in the room and were charged 3 Euros a night. The fan was bent, rusty, did not oscillate, and gave out barely a breeze. We complained and asked for another and was told It's not an air conditioning unit just a fan.
The local supermarket we found out hired them for 1 euro a night and were in perfect condition. We were not allowed to bring them into the hotel and could only use theirs mega rip off !
Considering we were sweating every night the bed sheets were only changed twice a week!
No food or drink were allowed to be brought in. They only sold small bottles of water at 1Euro in the hotel we could have purchased the same size for 40cts in the Supermarket !!!
The pool was actually the best thing about the place it was a good size and plenty of sun loungers, because no one stayed there. We were stopped by the rude kiosk attendant the first day and questioned about if we were staying at the hotel, then he had the cheek to look in my bag to make sure I had no food or drink. The kiosk had a very limited choice of ice creams and only toasties or burgers.
The young people were often told off when having a laugh, so they eventually found another pool to use. This made an unpleasant atmosphere a lot of the time.
It was much cheaper to book tours locally than with the rep.
We were extremely disappointed with our accommodation but Kardamena is a lovely destination overall.
