Carda Beach Aparthotel

We stayed at this hotel having seen it in the Olympic travel brochure. It was sold as a five star resort and it lived up to our expectation. The photos on the website were a totally true reflection of the place, rooms were immaculate, pools were great and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We went all inclusive and the quality of all the food and drinks were also high and we were thrilled to spend hardly any money for the whole week. Hi, Firstly for readers of this review, we would like to say that we are very fussy hoteliers and have made independent luxury travel a hobby of ours. We needed a last minute holiday and booked this a week before we left. With this standard in mind, we were very nervous about going to Carda Beach hotel. However, what we have found out subsequently is that Carda Beach is a new hotel and was completely rebuilt / renovated in July 2007. The Carda Beach Hotel is the sister hotel to the Mikri Poli hotel, the original booking was for the Mikri Poli, but on arrival we found ourselves in the Carda Beach. This turned out to be great, as it was our 'first holiday' together. The rooms were both spaceous and spotless, robes, slippers and beach towels were provided. We actually booked the Mikri Polli, which is the sister hotel next door aimed for families, however as we were a couple we were fortunately booked into the adults only Carda Beach. The Carda opened this season so is practically brand new. The hotel design is very contemporary, spacious and open. There is a lot of use of glass, marble and black granite in the design. Me & my mate stayed at Carda Beach for 2 weeks & were very disappointed. It was only us 2 girls & to get to the town from here u have to walk for at least 30 minutes down an unlit dirt track which is not very safe. The staff were rude & unhelpful. We paid extra to have a sea view, which was good apart from the fact that there were 7foot trees right outside our door & could not see a thing. We were quite disappointed with the standard of the hotel considering the amount of money we paid to stay there, we expected comfortable and clean accommodation with good facilities. Had we booked a cheap, last minute deal it wouldn't have been so bad but we expected more for our money than what we found when we got there! The rooms are very basic, for example it had only a single plug socket from which you were supposed to run a fidge (which you had to hire), fan and whatever else you need on holiday. I have been to Greece lots of times and found that the accomodation is either hit or miss. This place misses by a mile. Our beds were on concrfete in a room that stank of the drain ouside the door. While not filthy they were ages old and looked it; the pool was surrounded by broken tiles and the water had a brown tinge....nasty. Carda Beach is truly a couple's paradise. We were so concerned having read dubious reports on various websites, how wrong those people were. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it was very clean and spacious. My only wish was that there was more than one electric socket. The hotel is tucked away in beautiful secluded surroundings. Maria and Denis were very helpful and welcoming without being intrusive, Denis is an excellent chef if you wish to have a meal during the day. I have recently stayed at the Carda Beach and agree with what the first reviewer says. Maria and Dennis are welcoming, friendly, helpful and hospitable. It's relaxing, right next to the beach, has the largest pool on the resort and is just a short walk along the seafront to the centre of Kardamena. For my small group this was perfect as it meant we were not right on top of the neon and noise but could very easily get to it even in high heels! The price was exceptional. Me and my 3 girlfriends got a last minute booking to Carda Beach and we just got back (May 04). We loved it. Maria and her brother could not have been more helpful and friendly. The food they made was fantastic. The rooms were basic, but everything was clean and worked. The rest of the place was a retro paradise, spotless and blissfull. The pool was massive (and cold!) and there were so many sun loungers that a whole bus load of Germans couldn't use them all.
