Park Hyatt Istanbul - Macka Palas

I traveled for work but brought my family along (wife and 2 kids) so we made extensive use of the facilities. I must say that It will be difficult to find a better, friendlier service than the one provided by this hotel staff. Everyone (I mean everyone) was very helpful and corteous and extremely polite (they all seem to know and call you by your name). A stolen 3 night weekend in Istanbul a few weeks ago at the beginning of May and I could not believe why it had taken me so long to visit this fantastic city. I needed to relax and travelled alone which can, sometimes, be a bit intimidating. I need not have worried! If I can imagine Heaven on Earth, this would be the place -- the newly opened Park Hyatt near Taksim Square north of the oldenSultanahmet area across the Golden Horn. This property lives up to its Park Hyatt label and much more. My wife and I booked a Spa King for 2 nights. The room was nice and staff friendly and courteous. We had several problems during our stay and the staff was not very good at handling them. The manager blamed it on being new, but I expected more from this hotel. Be careful as taxi drivers have no idea on how to find this hotel. Overall, ok, but there are better places to stay in Istanbul.

Stayed here for one night in May 2009 for a business trip and plan to stay again next month for longer. Good : Well trained and professional staff makes you feel welcome Large and very nice rooms especially the bath New hotel so has all the latest toys in room - IPod docking, 42 inch LCD TV, mood lighting, etc Good wine collections at the lobby bar Spa treatment is exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Park Hyatt Istanbul. The staff is outstanding and the rooms are beautiful. My only complaint is that the additional services- room service, minibar, laundry, a drink in the lobby are outrageously expensive. Do choose a room NOT facing the pool if you want to sleep before 3am (weeknights there were very loud neighbors playing pounding music). The hotel is located in an excellent area for business meetings and fantastic restaurants but not that great for touring since traffic is horrific.

I just spent last weekend at the property and had a great time. Enjoying my Diamond status, I recieved a beautiful spa room. I asked to see the suite, but greatly preferred the Spa room. The steam bath, TV, Hammam, tub, lighting are infinitely a treat. It took me about an hour to get the lighting right, but that was fun too. as mentioned they offer a special tap with thermal water. I love Istanbul, the perfect city half European half Asian. I have been going there for business the past 2 years almost every 2 months but have struggled to find THE hotel. Read the reviews on tripadvisor on Kempinski, Swisshotel, Four Seasons etc and you will understand the unreliability of these places. Once ok, once not. The hotel is located in a very upscale part of town with superb shopping and dining. The building is a former palace but the decoration is essentially Park Hyatt. The rooms are large (not much of a view, either in the front or the back, except on the highest floors), with the comfort associated with Park Hyatt and special bathrooms . I stay in Istanbul for a couple of days almost every month and I tried Park Hyatt Macka Palace for the first time last month since I heard that it had recently been opened. The hotel is conveniently located in a very nice and busy area of the town with infinite choices for food and shopping. The historical building has a very innovative design and the rooms are simply the best I have seen in terms of comfort, amenities and luxurious touch. The restaurant (I think it's called "The Prime") has one of the best meat and lobster around.
