Fab for Families, Shame and the Sunbeds !!
We stayed at this hotel in August 2006 for 10 nights. The hotel was basic but very clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and we had 2 double beds which was ample for the 3 of us. The only fault with the room was that it got a bit cramped which in part was due to the amount of lilo's my son bought. The hotel is in an excellent location with steps going down to the beach from the pool area. By the pool there was a bar, snack bar and bbq and huge amounts of sunbeds not that you could get one easily ! You had to be up by 7am or you could forget about it. That part of the holiday was the worst as i just can't see what enjoyment there is to force people to set their alarm just to be able to sunbath the next day. You could see people leaving the evening entertainment which was outside next to the pool area just to go get their towels and reserve their sunbed and the most annoying part was thet half the beds didn't get used until the afternoon. There is 3 pools - a baby pool which came to my son's waist (not so baby), a medium pool which i could jsut stand in (i'm 5'6) and a large pool which neither my husband or I could stand in (he's 5'10) but the hotel don't restrict the use of inflatables which was great fun. The food was a bit disappointing also with not much variety. we had the all inclusive package and although that is great for kids getting drinks and ice cream i got fed up so we ended up at a local restaurant for a couple of nights. All in all my son loved his holiday and my husband loved the fishing. I would recommend it to young families who have done the Haven thing and want similar but with plenty of sunshine.
Location, Location, Location!
We stayed at the Miami apartments next door to the hotel, after reading good reviews from trip advisor members. Would add the following: Location-great if you want somewhere right on the beach and close by to all the restaurants and not too close to the lively entertainment at the other end of es cana. Not so great when the weather is not too hot and you can smell the drains outside the bedroom window and in the living room/kitchen. (we were on the ground floor) Can't say whether you had the same problem if you were higher up. Advice, try to book a high room, we did request but couldn't get and when we asked to swtich it was going to cost another 100 euros (not worth it from our point of view) The apartments were clean and spacious, with good maid service. The pool was adequate, but got full of plastic swim toys, lilos etc that people had left behind. Although staff did attempt to clean the area it soon filled up after they left. I would rate the appartments as above average for the space, the air conditioning, the powerful showers with loads of hot water and the location close to the beach. Though as advised choose the location of your room if you can!!
nice place for families
we booked our holiday on the internet and paid just over £800 for 2 adults and 1 child, not having been to Ibiza before we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful most of the island is and hiring a car went to most places. Es cana itself is very much for families there is something for everybody and the Miami is a good all round hotel, the rooms are a little small but very clean and the food is o.k, I wouldn't go all inclusive there again as ice creams are only available in the restaurant with your meal and snacks are not included, the entertainment is not too bad but too be honest when it was bad it was funny! staff at hotel are very friendly and love the kids, the kids club is for over four's it would be great if they had something for toddler's. The pool is really nice not full of chlorine and our daughter could stand in the baby pool which was great. It was hard to get a sunbed especially when you had some parents allowing their children to have one each and not use them all day but luckily we made some friends who would share their sunbeds with us, love to Hayley, Steve, Helena, Paul and all their lovely kids. Anyway go to the Miami its generally o,k and good value if you book it yourself try Travel republic.
We had a great holiday at the Hotel Miami
We stayed in early part of August. Good situation and good views of the bay. The room was very clean and completely adequate in size for a family of 4 (our kids are aged 8 and 4). I had expected it to be a lot smaller after reading comments from other reviews. Only down side is there was only 2 power points - one in the bathroom and one up very high near the tv but we learnt to live with that! We loved the food and found it to be very varied (had themed nights such as Chinese etc). Not one of us had any stomach problems at all (unlike previous holidays!) There was also the bbq which we used to use for lunch which was good value. Soft drinks were very expensive - we used to buy water/squash from the local shop which saved our cash. The main swimming pool is about 7ft deep so no good for yong kids unless they are amazing swimmers! The second pool is 1.2m and one part and 1.3m on the otherside. There is also a babysize pool. When we arrived, we are a bit worried as the second pool was too deep for my 8 year old to stand in yet alone my 4 year old but I must say it wasn't a problem at all. My youngest wore her armbands and their swimming levels improved dramatically!! Must say didn't use the beach as there was a jellyfish problem but I guess this can happen any where you go. The kids loved the evening kids disco and the entertainment for adults wasn't bad. We didn't use the day time kids club but they seemed to keep the kids entertained. People were very friendly when we were there. We would have no hesitation in using this Hotel again in fact my husband wants to go back again next year and he hates going abroad normally so that in itself is a recommendation.
fantastic value for money for families
We stayed at Hotel Miami for one week in July 2006 and found it very nice. Staff was friendly, rooms small for a family of four but very clean with beds made and clean towels daily. We went all inclusive and for us it was the best thing we could have done, the food was lovely, varied and lots of it. Great value for money. My only negative towards the hotel was the pool area. It gets very busy at peak times and unless you get there at 7am most mornings you would not get a sunbed near the pool. The main pool is 1.7 to 2 meters deep so not suitable for young children unless they are strong swimmers. There are other pools suitable for young children but unless you get a sunbed near them pools you would have to walk around the edge of the deep pool to get to them. The beach is a stone throw from the pool so we tended to go there most days. Our overall Hotel Miami experience was fantastic and we would return in the future.
Nice Hotel
The hotel has a great location overlooking the Sea. From the Sun terrace there is afew steps down to the beach so the location could not be better. The food was okay, I wouldnt say it was outstanding but im a Veggie so it can be difficult to please me. There was salad and chips every night so there was always something for me. The only fault with the restaurant was that you quite often had to search for cutlery and bowls at breakfast time. On check in we were told that our room wasnt available as we arrived at 11.30am and was told that check-out wasnt until 12pm so we had to wait until 2.00pm until it had been cleaned. When we did eventually get into our room it was nice and clean. Saying this though, the other family that we travelled with were able to have their room upon arrival. Overall the hotel is very nice, location great and I would go again. The resort was great, would recommended Popeye's bar which was just up the road.
cracking hotel
just returned from the miami hotel and it was fantastic, great food and a great location next to the beach.supermarkets right outside the hotel to get your cheap beer, water, ice creams etc and plenty for the kids to do,clean pool and got a sunbed everyday although up at 8 to get one.meal times you are even found a table at busy times and we never had to walk around trying to find one,my wife is a veggie and always found something to keep her happy, so very pleased and would recommend this hotel to anybody.
7am to bag a sunbed - no thanks!
Very busy and understaffed! Just returned from a week at hotel Miami (21st - 28th july) - travelled with patner (33) and two children (14 and 10) we booked AI as we find the convenience of on tap food and drink when travelling with the children ideal. Glad we did as the general complaint from people not on this option was the hotel was expensive. Good points - if you are on the right side (odd numbered rooms i believe) then the view of the bay from your room balcony can not be beaten. Food was good, travelled with two fussy eaters, but all four of us found something good most nights - although it can get a bit repetitive. Racquel on the entertainments team is a born performer, first thing in the morning and last thing at night this girl must be running on duracel batteries, shes just fantastic and 'clappy clappy babies' became the catch- phrase of the holiday! Sea is on your doorstep and a short stroll takes you to plenty of options if you want to get away from the crowd. Snorkelling kept the kids entertained for hours! Bad points ! The room - how they expect a family of four to squeeze into these rooms is beyond me, with less than 2 ft of space around the two double beds its a nightmare. The children found sleeping in one double a real invasion of space and at 10 and 14 and of the opposite sex you couldn't blame them. The smell was another issue, having been out of the room all day the nightly return to the overwhelming stench of sewer was awful. On complaining to reception you were met with blank expressions and felt you had imposed continually on private conversations between them and their colleagues. They have to be one of the most unhelpful team of people I had ever met manning a reception area. The pool area! although it looks pretty enough - fill it with people and it becomes a nightmare! There are not enough loungers and this results in a battle between an extra hour of sleep every morning or being uncomfortable, cramped and loungerless all day! Even when you've bagged yourself that lounger you know you are never going to be able to leave it, as you are surrounded by all the other 'lucky?' ones who are now squeezed in like sardines around you all day. To be honest i've never stayed anywhere where this was a problem and i have to admit the arriving at the pool every morning at 7am with your handful of towels was an uncomfortable experience and the sheepish good morning you share with other guest doesn't make that feeling any easier to bare - this was a situation i would never wish to repeat! Be careful of the main pool - its a circle cut in half with two quarter segments, making up a baby pool, a medium pool (1.2m) and then the main half - this was between (1.7m and 2m) on arrival not realising this i jumped in expecting to be at worst up to my neck and promptly sunk to the bottom a long way down. Ideal if you are a confident swimmer but awful if you are not so strong. The medium pool(1.2) gets very full and this makes it a pain during the day when you just want a quick dunk. On the whole i'm sure during the off peak season this hotel would make a perfect location but during the busy summer holidays forget it! They need to hire more staff and have got to deal with the problem of loungers. They also need to run a customer service course for their staff as the constant waiting for people to finsh their natter and then the shrug of the shoulder you are greeted with no matter what your request is, becomes tiresome after a while. Evening entertainment was nightly with some acts way better than others. A walk along the beach brings you to a number of bars which were pleseant enough. No real night life to speak of. A slection of supermarkets are backing on to this but it's your typical tourist gifts. If you going to want a snorket get it before you leave Gatwick had a great selection at good prices. Here they are over inflated and of poor quality. Lilo's are resaonable tho. Weather is VERY hot, Ibiza seems to be going through its own heatwave at the moment so go prepared. Sun lotion at home is currently much cheaper than anything you can buy there and well-known brands are very expensive.
best holiday yet
we had an excellent holiday at the Miami in Ibiza. our room was excellent with a great view of the sea and es cana beach. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, Raquel one of the childrens animation staff was absolutely wonderful she was so full of energy and got all the kids joining in. My kids had an excellent time my little boy made loads of friends and was always in the pool and playing football he was never bored. The pool area was always clean and tidy. (you have to be up early to grab your sunbeds). i would defiently go back to this hotel it was the best place i have stayed for a while
FANTASTIC HOTEL - WOULD DEFINITELY RETURN
We have just returned from the Hotel Miami - we travelled with Thomson flights and hotel was booked through Med Hotels. 4 Adults and a child of 3 years (we booked 2 rooms). My sister and I read all reviews prior to booking and were slightly put off but a price of £550 per person for 11 nights all inclusive (free child) we thought why not. We are so glad we didn't listen to the reviews, I think they must have been staying at a different hotel. Two slightly negative things were: 1. Bad flight times and 2. Not being able to keep your room on after 12 noon, we were getting picked up a 9pm and had to be out of our rooms at 12 noon, they advertise that you can pay 30 euros to keep your room on and we were willing to do this but you never can coz the hotel is full. The positives certainly outweigh the negatives: fantastic location for an all inclusive hotel, the hotel, pool area etc was absolutely spotless, you could eat your tea off the pool side floor. Pool was cleaned daily, lilos allowed, bar staff friendly, fantastic for young kids, rooms good. We as a group have been to many places and we do expect a fairly high standard (you could say we were a bit fussy) but Hotel Miami had it all. Go and book you won't be dissapointed
