Oz Side Hotel

i travelled with my teenage son and had a fantastic time.the hotel is small but this means it is friendly and less intimadating as the larger hotelscan be.the food was edible although could of done with a little more choice,got to remember its a small hotel.waiters were fun and hard working, the chefs are very arrogant.management virtually stayed in the hotel but left everyone to enjoy themselves.rooms and all areas of the hotel are clean and adequate.pool is freezing but refreshing after a day of sunbathing.i went to relax and destress this... more

Was a bit apprehensive about the hotel due to the reviews that i read previous too going but was surprised that the hotel exceeded most of the negative comments made. When we got to the hotel the night staff were friendly but not overly so, the hotel rooms are clean & clean & tidy as is all of the hotel, the cleaning staff do a fantastic job. I have read some of the other reviews on this site and have to say how suprised I am. It has to be said that the rooms are adequate and kept clean, but this really is only in line with your average travel lodge, ample but no frills. The food is frankly disgusting. All of our party (7 people) became ill from eating the salad, and it was clear that food was re-used and re-heated on a daily basis. The accomodation at this hotel is good, clean had comfortable beds & pillows and a good bathroom. Air con was either on-cold or off. TV in room had BBC News Channel & TNT. The food was salad, chips and rice at every meal with undercooked chicken and or hamburgers. I've had better school dinners! We were supposed to be all inclusive but it was more like full board including drinks. Breakfast was 8-10am, lunch 12-14.00 and dinner 20.00-21.30. Cake and "Bonio" biscuits at 16.30. When reading the brochure review I expected Oz Side to be in the middle of nowhere. Its not, its conviently located about 10 mins walk to the Old Town and then another 10 or (as long as it takes you to navigate the main shops) to the harbour. This was a package holiday on a shoestring and having done plenty of these I wasn't expecting much however this has to be the best cheap holiday I've been on.
