Cheap and Cheerful
We were slightly apprehensive about staying at the Alondras after reading some pretty negative reviews. It's not 5 star but the apartment was spacious and clean and equipped with what was needed for a one week cheap break in the sun. The location was excellent - Costa Del Silencio is a charming, lout-free resort...You won't find many traditional canarian restaurants or bars, most are owned and run by the british. Best restaurant by far was the Harvester Grill which is based in the Alondras Complex. Be prepared to wait a while for your dinner - everything is cooked fresh and usually takes around 45mins but the wait is worth it - the food is fantastic. We would also recommend Woody's Way(along the road) and The Avenue in Coral Mar Square. The complex is let down somewhat by the pool bar. The english woman running it was rude and foul-mouthed and she tended to open only for a few hours per day, usually 10-1pm (ish). All in all, we had an enjoyable holiday and would probably go back.
more like fawlty towers
Arrived on the 24th of dec for 1 week 2 adults 1 9 year old 1 14 year old. The appatment was very basic, the beds looked clean enough but the pillows were a bit on the smelly side. There was an awful pong about the appartment too that seemed to last , this got worse when you had a shower or emptied the sink. We became the victims of crime very early and had our towels stolen on the very first night (this was upsetting because it had all my daughters swimming badges on it) The lady that ran the poolside bar was very helpful and lent us some that she had spare. It was supposed to be a self catering holiday but the utensils were filthy and the cooker worked about as fast as a candle , also only one ring worked. The kettle also had a mind of its own and would take ages to boil.We had a meal at The Harvester one night and asked the price of champagne and never got a reply the service was terrible. There was nothing for the children to do, the pools were like ice and where the appartments are must be a wind trap it was so cold compared to other locations. A lot of locals do live in these appartments and they can be quite nasty at times. I would not recommened this accomodation to anyone The only thing that made this holiday bearable was the people we met in the daytime and the beer that put us to sleep at night !!!
great staff
we stayed at the alondas park hotel Dec13th2006 for two weeks in costa del silencio, The staff were terrific very helpful, and the apartments are very spacious, but the resturant and poolside bar were closed for the first 9 days of our two week stay due to illness,? but silencio is very very quiet, not a place to take children at this time of year as the pool is freezing cold, even the kids rarely went in , and not much to do in the resort, best bar was the foaming quart, mick and kat were great hosts and we hope to call in again when we are in tenerife but we will stay in los christianos, and their is no beach in silencio just a rocky coastline so if you have children stay away from silencio in winter months anyway!!
nice pictures, poor facts
a summary pool okay, local spaniards use the complex as their own personal lido. gangs of spanish youths hang round at night starting trouble with anyone they can bully. then go missing when the adults arrive. rooms basic, complex tired, restaurant very poor in comparison to burger king and you may get told "this is a local pub for local people" by the taff at the bar. two price lists run in this bar, be warned. there is a crime wave going on in these apartments (according to the president of the resident commitee) so take the safety box. alondras park, beirut on acid???
appartments were ok
i stayed at alondras park with 3 other girls, we are all 18!! alondras park is more of a couples thing i'd say, its very quiet, although theres the odd rowdy italian!! met some nice people there, our nextdoor neighbour was nice, he was very friendly. the lifeguard was also really friendly towards us. theres a supermarket across the road which was handy. a bar and karaoke that we went to a few times, thats good but again very quiet!! rooms are basic, we had an upstairs in our appartment, so this wasnt very good when we came in a bit intoxicated!! but we managed. our room was clean, and the maid would often be in there cleaning it. i would recommend this accomodation to people, but for young people playa is the place to go for the nightlife and the beach!! i will definatly be coming back to tenerife but it has to be playa i'll be staying at!! but i'll be bk to alondras sometime...
basic but clean
stayed at the alondras park june 2006.payed very little for a late holiday their.A few problems were that the apartments were tired and need updating, although they are kept clean by helpfull staff. The pool area is very nice and clean, with outside bar and loungers, your stay here is made easier. The town of silencio is not for people who require a lively holiday,as it is mainly occupied by brittish locals, not holiday makers. The bus service to americas and cristianos is only yards away .they run every 20 mins and only cost 1.60 euros each way.20 mins travel.Flights are regular over the resort and noisy,as you are only 15 mins from the airport. It is only 2 mins to the sea front but sadly no beach.A FEW GOOD POINTS. DEEP PAN PIZZA next to alondras is superb quality ,value, and service. They are one of the best pizzas i have ever had.K Cs EURO bar in the square is friendly and the cheapest bar on the island.IF YOU WANT A CHEAP AND VERY QUIET HOLIDAY GO HERE.
Basic 2 Star
just returned from the alondras, you get what you pay for.2 star in need of some refurbishment, alot of local spaniards use these apartments so beware of local kids in pool noisy and out of control. reception staff not very helpful.rooms clean but basic .stayed in D block room 213 no view of pool and directly above supermarket with a door that bangs constantly.dogs are also aloud in complex so are local builders who seem to use pool to sunbathe in lunch hour. silencio is a bit run down place, plenty of bars and restaurants.Harvester Bar good for entertainment. Scotch corner good place to eat.Chinese restaurants excellent. NO BEACH but 10 minswalk to Galletas for very small beach.
Alondras Park (Horrendos Park)
What nice things can I say about these apartments - nothing will be the honest answer. On arrival at the reception we were ignored for up to 5 minutes by a woman who looked more like she was in the gastapo when she did finally acknowledge us (if thats what you can call it) she kept saying where are you're vouchers? We didnt have a rep come with us to check us in so we had no idea what she was going on about. About 10 mins later she photo copied our flight ticket and eventually gave us a room pass and pointed in the general direction where we were staying in. Room was very spacious and had all the equipment in it that we needed for a weeks stay self catering but thats the only thing I can say good about it. On opening the bathroom door a very strange smell greeted you which on smelling it for a week I still cant describe. The shower head couldn't be adjusted and only pointed straight out to the opposite side of the bath so you had to hold it in you're hand to have a shower, there was a huge rust mark in the bath about the size of a saucer so hence that wasnt used at all. The toilet cistern had a crack all the way from the top to the bottom and everytime you flushed the toilet came up in you're hand. In the bedroom behing the curtain was a window ledge which had a very nasty looking furry thing living in the corner. We were told this was mildew, but trust me on closer inspection this was not. We asked several times for it to be cleaned but gave up after a few days and left it alone not daring to open the curtains again. The staff were all very rude everytime we asked for something we asked not once, twice, three times and more and still never got anywhere, in fact I'm still waiting for the blankets I requested on the first day of staying there. We were without electric for 6 hours on another day and on visiting reception over and over again and getting nowhere fast I had to report it to the Rep before anything got done. The apartments had very few guests in when we were there and so there was no excuse for lack of cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness my advise is dont go here unless you dont mind slumming it for a week or two. Finally I do have photos of the apartment if you have the stomach to see them.
Family Outing
All our family(27 people) went to Alondras Park in August 2005, a mixture of ages from 12mth old baby to 56 year olds, including teenagers. We all had a brilliant time, something for everyone, the Harvester bar on site provided good entertainment for the children plus Elvis, Mariah Carey look-a-likes etc for the adults. Apartments very large and resonably furnished. Lacking perhaps toaster & microwave! The pool was heated. Christina and staff couldn't have been more helpfull, allowing us to stay in our rooms 'till 5p.m. free of charge on day of departure. I have stopped in much worse complexes before and paid 3 times as much for the holiday. Costa del Silencio as is the name is very quite, but how many bars can you go in in two weeks, and how far do you want to walk, everyone there in the bars are very friendly can't do enough for you. Well done Alondras, keep up the good work.
Brilliant for young family
We booked the apartments quite late, never having been to Tenerife before but they were ideal for my 3 children. The apartment was a good size for a holiday apartment and the pool area nice. The area is fairly quiet [what I wanted], a few bars and restaurants nearby, but the complex restaurant was great value and the staff were excellent. By the end of the week my 5years old daughter was nearly stalking the entertainment staff. Johnny Circus was great fun, even my surly 11 years old boy found him entertaining, and the singer made my daughters day by opening with a selection of Ronan/Boyzone specially for her. In case you are reading this in horror please don't worry next year she will be demanding Morrissey!! Excellent value overall, could do with a lick of paint, but then again couldn't we all.
