Hotel Description:

The Hotetur Montemar Apartments are attractively situated on a green slope some 700 meters from the sea and a sandy beach, and 500 meters from the little village of Cala Llonga. The Hotetur Montemar is unique in several ways, located as it is among luxuriant flowers and sheltering foliage where no noise from road traffic or discotheques can intrude.

" Great Cheap Break "

Travelled in June to Montemar two adults and three kids, the room was large but could do with a refurb but to be honest did not bother us as we only slept in them as all inclusive, was very impressed with food and drinks and the kids loved the games and night time entertainment. The beach in Cala Llonga is great and safe for little kids. We deffinetley recommend that people go all inclusive as the price of food and drinks in the town were very exspensive. Would deffinetley return as the kids loved it!!

Advice: Quiet resort and beautiful

" Cala Llonga is Great "

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Montemar. The resort is fab - great places to eat = recommend Ses Veles. Mayfair is a great Bar and has some fun nights at Mister Cairos. The beach is great for kids. You can catch a ferry to Es Cana, Santa Eulalia or Ibiza town from a little jetty on the beach.
Our holiday was spoiled somewhat by our apartment though. The Montemar is at the top of Kilemanjaro via Everest - No Joke - check the address. We practically needed oxygen after climbing the hill in the heat and we are youngsters (40's). When you reach the Montemar depending on which block you are in you could have way in excess of another 20 steps to go up.- we were in block I right at the far side of the complex. Had a lovely large terrace - no sun til late afternoon though. Inside however the furniture was battered and tired. The kitchen very basic, Microwave, toaster, 2 rings, 1 frying pan 1 saucepan. 1 Plug so couldn't toast and microwave at same time. The bathroom was in need of complete refurb - cracked sink . The we come to the toilet - flushed once when we arrived and then gave up - took 5 visits to reception over a 24 hour period before it was fixed. Shortly after the water went off for the first of several times over the next 2 days. When the water came back on - it started to pour out of the back of the toilet - we had to put a saucepan under it. They fixed that quickly but then it would only flush around once a day and still leaked. I advised our rep, who said she would have a word but no more was done about. Not wanting to spend my whole holiday complaining in reception we gave up and flushed it by using the saucepan full of water. The Ceiling fan in our room wobbled so violently when on we were scared to use it for fear of it falling down. The pool area is great and sports facilities good too. Lots of guests were all inclusive. We felt the drinks from the pool bar were very expensive. We had clean towels every other day and sheets once after a week - but these were just left on our balcony and I put them on. The floor wasn't moped or swept by the maid at all whilst we were there. The bedside spotlights are quite dangerous too - getting very hot - our daughter accidently leaned on it and got a nasty burn. I accept that these apartments are only 2 star/key but we have stayed a lots rated the same but these were the tattiest and worst equiped. Visit Cala Longa but not the Montemar.

Advice: Quiet and relaxing

Activities: Ses Veles

Good for: Beach

" Shame about the steps! "

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Cala Llonga and the only complaint we have is all the steps up to our accomodation block!! The staff were all very friendly, the food was good and plenty of it and the entertainment team worked really hard! For what we paid we had a brill holiday but our apartments were in 'M' block, the highest of the lot and was a real climb!! Although there were lots of families staying here, if you got one of the higher up apartments it could be a real trek! We had to be really organised and make sure when we left the apartment we took everything we needed with us, there's no way 'you could just pop back'! The apartments were basic and clean, could do with spending some money on the bathrooms and could do with air conditioning throughout the apartment, not just a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
Having said all of this, we had a wonderful time and would return again, but would strongly request an apartment lower down

" RAT ROOM "

last september my fiancee and i took our three kids on their first holiday abroad, on booking the holiday we requested a ground floor apartment as we had the three kids, one of which was still in his buggy , despite this when we arrived we were told that we had no alternative but to be allocated to one of the highest apartments with about a dozen sets of steps, through our first night we could hear some strange noises but thought nothing of it, we got up in the morning and i went to the local shops to stock up on food for breakfast and snacks, we had breakfast and set off to the pool, at lunchtime we came back up to the apartment and was horrified to be greeted by a very large RAT , at this point we decided to go to reception as we no longer wanted to go back into this room, after about 30mins explaing about our situation we were told that the room would be dealt with as their was no other available rooms for us, when we later returned t the room there were droppings all over the kitchen worktops and the situation was clearly not dealt with, we made a further visit to reception again with nohelp what so ever we were told we would have to return to the room until there was a vacancy, the five of us slept in a double bed for the next5 nights until on our last night we were eventully moved, as we lay in bed at night we could hear the RAT running around the apartment, and had very little sleep at all , would definately not recommend these apartments at all a total disgrace with NO help at all...

" Holidays in a beautiful Apartment in Torrox-Park "

This year we spent our holidays in Torrox-Park.
We looked for an apartment by using google some weeks before the begining of our holidays.
The booking was very easy (for me it was the first time to book accommodations via internet).
The choice was very good!
The apartment Montemar in Torrox-Park is very beautiful. It is a 2-bedroom-apartment with a great balcony from which we had a wonderful view to the sea and the mountains.
A good place for quiet and recreative holidays.

" just spent 2 weeks with family of 8,... "

just spent 2 weeks with family of 8, children rangeing from 9 - 22 years old. the aparments were basic but ideal. the rooms were spacious and very clean. i would have rated them higher than a 3*. you had everything you need in there for a s/c holiday apart from having to hire out toaster and kettle. the staff were very helpful and always polite. the pool was a very good size and was never overly busy. the only downfall was that the road outside was very noisey at night with buses, taxis and boy racers going past. on the ground floor was like a car port where there were table tennis (free to play), pool tables, football table, tv and internet for the kids which was nice and cool as the days (and nights) were very hot! do not let the reps drag you into going to anfi. it is a free but completly wasted day out!!! camel trekkiing was a good experience and so were the dolphin trip (as long as you take you sea legs !!!). the beach is nice although by dinner time the (black) sand is too hot to stand on. if you have trouble walking up and down steps playa del ingles is not the place to go. you have to walk down 76 steps to get to the beach!! all in all good holiday.

" After reading a large number of... "

After reading a large number of reviews on various sites my wife and I decided the Montemar apartments were ideal for a one week break. Our room was one of the studio apartments it was very spacious, plus the air con was working as it should do. We had a fridge, a toaster, kettle (but used our travel one) and a microwave. There was enough cutlery and plates, etc. The condition of our room was very good and room service was on most days.

The hotel is situated about 10 mins from the beach, however the areas are named after mountain ranges so there is a steep climb. Anyone with walking difficulties would really struggle with this, something to think about even with pushchairs, not impossible, but the hotel is surround by pine trees and residential roads so there is only one way to and from the hotel.

One of the common problems of when going abroad is people feel the need to put towels out on sunbeds at 7.30am.....and then not use them all day. Montemar is no different so for people/familes who wanted to spend the day by the pool and missed "The towel run" you would have been forced to sit on the plastic chairs.

As we were self catering I can't comment on the hotel food, we found numerous bars and places to eat, you will not be dissapointed with the choice and the quality. I would recommend the "up and in" opposite the little fairground. There is a little SPAR by the hotel and they have all that you could need really, self catering or not.

The beach is a blue flag beach and is really great the water is clear and shallow enough the kids so you will not have a problem there. I highly recommend the taxi ferries that run from the beach to a number of locations, you must go to the old town of Ibiza, and Santa Elulalia, then over at Es Cana there was a hippy market on one of the days.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montemar, there is a life guard on pool duty, the entertainment in the evening is the usual thing which finishes about 11.30, the entertainers try to do various things for children.
Other reviewers had problems with ants and various problems, I wouldn't say theses are unfounded as I heard a couple talking to others saying they had to be moved because of the ants and the other couple had problems with hot water. That said I still think it is a good hotel, internet cafe and reception is open 24 hours, pay phones and the pool is clean.

" We arrived at 12.15am. We were given... "

We arrived at 12.15am. We were given a map of the hotel drawn out in a highlighted pen which told us where to go. We were in L Block. The pathways were very dim. We found it eventually and opened the patio door and the smell just hit us. My husband stepped inside and there was water all over the floor. He further checked and found there was a burst pipe in the toilet and there was excrement on the floor as well. I went back down to the reception and was told it was probably coming from the fridge as the electricity had just been turned on. I said it couldn't possibly be as there was too much water. The receptionist said they didn't have another room as the hotel was full. I said that that was not good enough and was given a room on J level. We opened the door and found that the room had not been cleaned. My husband had to sweep it out. In the corner there was a large piece of sponge with spiders webs hanging from it (which was supposed to be a seat a (and 2 pieces of sponge which was supposed to be the cushions) There was fallen masonery on the patio and behind the safe was a 2 inch layer of muck and dust. We went to see the rep at the welcome meeting. We were moved to a Half Board Hotel. Do not go Disgusting

" We have just had a very enjoyable... "

We have just had a very enjoyable week at the Tenerife Tour Hotel.

Our room was in a fantastic location just above the sea and the pool. The hotel was very Spanish and put on an excellent New Year's Eve Party for the locals but included all the hotel guests with dancing to a live band and as much wine and cava as we wanted. We liked the fact there were a whole range of nationalities staying there.

The food was fine and there was a microwave provided if anyone wanted their food piping hot. We tended to enjoy 8 Euros 3 course meals with wine included at various restaurants at lunch-time anyway.

The hotel is well placed for buses into Santa Cruz from where you can get buses all over the island. Santa Cruz is a lovely city with the best sandy beach on the island, Playa de Teresitas, just a short bus-ride further on. It is a very pleasant walk into the town of Candelaria which is very local and very friendly.

The bar/restaurant just next to the hotel on the promenade has excellent food. The man working on reception was very helpful and spoke good English.

Well done!

" We have just returned from a very... "

We have just returned from a very pleasant 10 day holiday staying at the Montemar Apartments. We booked the apartments knowing they had quite mixed reviews and was a little apprehensive as to what we might find.

I have given the apartment 7 because 3 things let them down:

1) The maintenance of the apartment. The 1 bed apartment badly needed refitting and modernising. It had been painted recently but the sliding wardrobes in the bedroom didn't slide. It really needed a new bed or beds as the bed was smaller than a double and we constantly rolled together as the mattress had seen better days.

The kitchen cupboards were also in quite a state, the kickboards were disintegrating at both ends and the worktop was broken and had pieces missing out of it. The fridge was so bad we complained (broken compartments, rusty, and a collection of dead ants squashed to the door seal NICE!) and they did replace it on the 2nd day, but only when we made a fuss.

The bathroom, for some strange reason they had painted the inside of the bath, every time we had a shower more of the paint came off and the toilet didn't work properly, maintenance came out, but it kept breaking we learnt how to fix it ourselves!

2) Cleaning of apartment. Our apartment had been cleaned sometime before we checked in, and I ended up sweeping entire apartment as the floor was dirty. The cleaners came every other day , sometimes every day towels were changed and bins were emptied, not once in the whole stay did they mop the floor or clean the toilet and sink. So the cleaning was not up to standard. The rest of the complex was clean and tidy though.

3) We would only in future book accommodation with air conditioning. The bedroom had a ceiling fan which was great but we could have done with AC throughout. We knew it didn't have AC but they could really do with investing in it.

For what we paid I couldn't really complain and we just got used to it after a couple of days, but the apartments would really benefit from some investment. We had requested an apartment near the lower part of the complex and a room above ground floor level.

We got both of these and the staff around the complex and in reception were always polite and helpful. We were in G block but on the top floor, 40 steep steps up, we are fit but be warned the complex is up a hill and is then set in the side of the hill and there are steps everywhere.

We didn't eat in the restaurant and the facilities were a bit limited for self catering, we managed breakfast and sometimes made rolls up for lunch. We ate out most nights in and around Cala Llonga and had lots of nice meals.

The beach is lovely as is the area around the pool which is also pleasant with plenty of beds, but it’s a real sun trap!

We hired a car for 3 days with BK Auto Rentals which I booked online before we went. They turned up on time and we had no problems and actually got a better car than we expected. It was much cheaper than booking in resort and they dropped it off and picked it up. There was a charge for this but it still made it cheaper that hiring a car in the resort.

All in all a nice holiday. I think we'd go back to Ibiza and maybe the Montemar if it had some money spent on it. It is a lovely Island and we had great relaxing time.

" The apartments are very basic, a... "

The apartments are very basic, a major ant problem is in attendance, and the staff are not that customer focused.

The setting is very pretty, the hill these apartments are on is called KILIMANJARO - not a problem for reasonably fit people, but for the elderly or disabled a definite no-no.

The resort is lovely and good for families with young children. The beach is lovely and the resort very clean with the usual family orientated activities available.

Zebra restaurant is excellent and very reasonable.

" The Montemar Apartments were lovely,... "

The Montemar Apartments were lovely, 600m from the beach up a steep hill up every day and about 100 steps to your apartment. As my in-laws found the hill a bit trying there is a shop on site but the shop at the bottom of the hill is better.

The pool is big and there are loads of sun beds which you don’t have to put towels on early. There is a sauna, a jacuzzi and tennis courts which cost 12 euros an hour.

The towels are changed every day and sheets every week. There is a poolside bar and a lovely restaurant which is 10 euros for eat as much as you like. The entertainment is great.

All in all, a great place as it’s quiet at night which is nice. The town is good with lots of shops, restaurants and a great sport shop. The buses are handy, every half hour into Elvissa the capital or Santa Elualia, 1.20 euros each you need or two buses to Playa Den Bossa.

The apartment was very clean. Bedding and towels changes regularly.

A few steps but helped work off all the ice -cream. Pool excellent with life guard.

Entertainment for kids but not over the top. Really good holiday would go again.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The actual location of the hotel is a good walk up hill from the beach, so not ideal for elderly or having to push a pram.

" Me my Partner, mam and dad have just... "

Me my Partner, mam and dad have just come from back from a weeks all inclusive at the Hotel Montemar we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would not be disappointed to go back there at a later date.

The hotel itself was spotless and the pool was large and well maintained. The food was alright although mainly catered for a Dutch client you would certainly not go hungry though with a wide choice of meals and desserts to choose from in the dining room three times a day.

As well as snacks such as burgers, chips and cakes available from 12 till 7 everyday. The all inclusive drink was excellent never any queues at the bar!

The resort was excellent with a wide range of bars and cafes to enjoy along the seafront there was plenty to choose from and I would definitely recommend Barcelona for a day trip you can get the train from the station for 6 euros return another brilliant day out is marine world.

The only down point is that it is a mainly Dutch hotel and therefore the entertainment was centred around that but it was certainly not bad also the hotel wont change your travellers checks for you if you are English but there is a bureau de change just around the corner or the hotel promenade will change them for you (so not really a hassle just a little bit infuriating).

Overall a very pleasant experience one which I wouldn’t mind repeating.
