The hotel is alryt...
The food is terrible and would not be recommended by people of the UK..
The animation team is very very good and always get you to try something..
The roms are a bit run down but a quick decoration may be required..
Our rep was very good aswell..
I would come back only if the food had improved..
It would definatly not be a 4*..It would be lucky if it was a 3 star never mind a 4..

We have just returned from two weeks at the Mirramamar hotel and had a great time. The hotel has been around for a while but this adds to its charm. The food is great you would have to be very fussy to go hungry. The staff and the waiters are helpful and the hotel is very clean and runs out of view of the guests. The entertainment team were tireless we found ourselves playing games and and meeting people we would have missed otherwise. Last year we went to a 5 star hotel in Tunisia it was great, but and to be honest this time we had a stress free two weeks and enjoyed every day I think if you try this hotel you will find a gem. We dressed up for dinner every night but you dont need to, we did not feel over or under dressed, we were at home whatever we choose. We met familys singles and partners a lot were people returning time and time again, We will be going back later this year. It was that good

When we arrived at this hotel for our weeks hoilday we were very shocked at what we saw. As well travelled people we new what we expected from a 4* hotel and this was not it. When we arrived there were no porters to carry your luggage and nobody to meet 'un' greet you. Our room was not ready until 2hrs after our arrival and we were left just wondering around the hotel. When wondering around waiting for our room we decided to get a coffee and observe the pool and beach area. What a mistake - we had to wait 10 minutes for a drink as there was nobody to serve us and when we went down to the beach area there were more broken sun umbrellas than useable ones, and as for the mats you are suposed to put on your sun loungers well, they were grimey and black. Our first impressions were not good! And then it got a whole lot worse....
When we were told our room was ready we were given the key and left to find it ourselves. On the journey to our hotel room there was an awful smell of drains which became more and more unbareable the closer we came to our room. On opening our room door - well where do I begin? Knowing that the cleaners had just finished we were expecting a clean room - but no. Nobody could prepare us for what we saw....
- Chewing gum on the floor with hairs in it,
- The paint was falling off the walls as you looked at it,
- Yellow stains on the sink from a leaking tap,
- Damp on the walls, above the door and in the wardrobe,
- The balcony had seating for 2 people and we were a party of 3 and the seating area was brown,
- Stains on the bed sheets,
- Fluff and hair on the rugs,
- Mildew and damp around the edge of the bath,
- Rust around the lights in the ceiling,
- Missing crome on the shower head,
- Cracked tiles in the bathroom,
- Rusty shower curtain pole,
- Rusty bath handle.
We observed all this within 30 minutes of being in our room. On which note we demanded for our rep and we gave her two choices. To send us home on a return flight with our money back or to move us to a proper 4* hotel. The rep was very good and within an hour we were on our way to a new hotel in Port el Kantoui.
Please take a look at our photos before you even contemplate booking this awful hotel!!!

Well, i went to this place few times and observed a lot of personal affairs going on there.
The hotel itself is located in a quiet and peaceful area, away from hassle of a big cities. If you miss night life you can take a cab about 7 dinars to go to Sousse. There is Safari outside the hotel with some sort of Disco there, but very low profile.
Food in the hotel is nice, very tasty pancakes. It's a lovely place to go to in the summer time. Animation team will give you a lot of attention. I can't wait to see Bibo again !!! Great guy with sexy smile, we've spent lots of romantic moments together... Can't forget it !! Bibo thank you for all those lovely moments. Can't wait to see you again !!!
Lots of love,

Fantastic time had by all. We ranged in age 19 - 52. This hotel caters for all age groups.
Room very clean and very spacious. Food plenty of it, breakfast was both of continental style but also consisted of cereals, fruit, toast, jam, eggs etc, evening meal again buffet style but we found plenty to choose from - various main meal options, if you do not like choices you can always have pasta or salad, always plenty of sweet things for desert plus various fruit i.e. melon, dates, peaches etc.
During the day there are various pool games, beach volley ball, darts, table tennis, water aerobics, and water polo. Various water sports. Early evening outside entertainment done by animation team, we also had various visiting acts, most nights are continued into the night club. Animation Team at this hotel work very hard to please all.
Taxi's very cheap 10 dinar to Sousse or Monastir 22 dinar to Port El Kantoui. [lovely to visit in evening] Very little to do outside hotel in Skanes but after a day out it is nice to get back and relax.
When staying here you can really relax or enjoy the evening choice really is yours. Staff are very helpful and very polite. We will all go again this year, can't wait.
This hotel really is value for money.
Note: Do not expect a fry up breakfast you will be disappointed as many English are - This is Tunisia, people are friendly, great places to explore, camel train a must.

The hotel was very nice. Rooms were basic but did what they are meant to do (provide a place to sleep and keep clothes/ possessions safe).
The staff at the hotel were fantastic and can't do enough to help and be friendly.
The rep we had (Moez) was great also.
We visited during a quiet period and the hotel had on average 120 people, so was quite quiet. However the entertainment staff (Bebo, Picasso and Momo) did their best to liven it up and showed our daughter great attention. If she wanted to do an activity they went and fetched the equipment and we did it. 10 out of 10 for those guys.
My only few criticisms are as follows: The hotel is not really near to anything. Once you have had the evening meal the only thing to do is have a drink in the reception area. If you want to go anywhere, nothing is within walking distance and you would have to get a taxi to find some other life.
The onsite Gym is not really a gym. It is a huge health spa (facials, body massage, spa etc) with a room upstairs with 2 cycle machines and 2 rowing machine which are not owned by the hotel and all have to be paid for separately. Very misleading in the brochure.
Tunisia is a nice place but a few words of warning ! The whole plan of Tunisian traders is to hassle you into buying something. (I am not blaming them, this is their culture and what they know) be aware on your first few days of your holiday as they will know you are new and try to "nail" you on any deal they can while you haven’t worked out the currency and have no idea on the true cost you can actually buy thing for!
The quality of all the goods in Tunisia are fantastic and there are some fantastic products and deals to be had but take a few days to find out what you should be paying before you are talked into parting with 25 pounds then later find out you can actually pay 2 pounds elsewhere.
On a whole the holiday was good and the hotel and staff work really hard and are great. Nothing against the hotel but if we do go back to Tunisia we need a hotel nearer other amenities.
If you want a quiet holiday lazing around than this place is great, if you want lots of nonstop activities then maybe somewhere else may be better. We did visit in a quiet period but I would imagine that high season offers the same activities but there are just alot more people around.
Final word...Enjoy.

I agree with the comment below, I don't understand what these people are on who say they don't like this hotel. Me and my boyfriend are 18 and 19, we stayed here for a week and came back last night. It's fab, haven't got a bad word to say about anything. Foods great - a variety for all, rooms are cleaned well, friendly staff - we made lots of friends, always things to do such as, golf, tennis, table tennis, beach, swimming in 3 pools, therapy place, 2 restaurants, a nightclub full of entertainment every evening, kids disco, 2 additional bars, darts, dancing, aqua gym, normal aerobics, lots of opportunities for trips.
Overall, great holiday! I'd definately recommend this holiday to everyone - it's suitable for all age ranges. The bus journey from the airport is max 20mins. Please don't be put of by the people who say it's rubbish!!! x

Have just returned from a weeks holiday. I must admit I checked out this site before I went and became very apprehensive after reading some very negative reports. Fortunately I had spoken to friends who had been to Tunisia who thoroughly enjoyed themselves so I tried to remain positive!
First impressions of the hotel were very good. We arrived late at night and the front of the hotel was all beautifully lit up. The reception staff spoke good english and we were checked in and shown to our rooms very quickly. The main lobby was very large and in keeping with a 4 star hotel. However the trek to our room on the second floor (no lifts!) went on and on. The corridors were tired and I did begin to feel a bit worried.
The rooms were large and adequate but not 4 star. Linen and towels were all clean and laundered everyday. Food was interesting, breakfast definitely the best meal. Coffee great but take your own tea bags! Tried to avoid entertainment staff at beginning of week but by the end they were all good people who made you laugh and remembered our english names! They all speak at least 3 to 4 languages putting us brits to shame!
Definitely take taxis to Monastir 10 TD and especially Port El Cantaou 15 TD - port was lovely and great aqua park. Must go to medinas really good fun haggling but all stalls sell same things. Cleaners liked to go through your stuff had bra nicked on last day! - but didn't touch any money or valuables. Go and enjoy a different type of holiday but take a pack of cards for your evening entertainment if your not up for 70's nightclub!
Pancakes round pool in afternoon are definitely a must. Lots of cats who are very friendly while you eat but none the less were clean and well looked after. Our weather was quite varied although was told unusual for time of year but still managed some days on beach and by the pool. Pool was freezing so swam in sea. The indoor pool is like a bath with the facilities to eat and drink.
If nothing else you must try the camel caravan. I'm still suffering 2 days later. It was a trek through olive groves going to a traditional Tunisian dwelling where they re enact a tunisian wedding selling their daughters for camels!
Have come home feeling relaxed and would definitely consider returning. I would have liked to have had 10 days there. Don't take the harsh reviews to heart make the holiday what you want it to be. There is something for everyone.

Have just come back from this lovely hotel having spent two weeks there with my husband (first holiday without children - all grown up now). The hotel was very clean, staff could not do enough for you, very very freindly, our room was very large and very clean.
There was plenty of choice on the menu for breakfast and evening meal even if you are a vegetarian. The private beach which belongs to the hotel (although small) was adequate for the number of people using it, and it was cleaned every day as was the pool and the area around the pool. The evening entertainment, the staff put on shows and tried their best, there was also entertainers brought in a couple of times a week which was ok, but if you really want the night life get a taxi into Sousse or Monastir (about £4.00) and there is night life there for the people who enjoy clubs etc., We visited the Monastir which is absolutely beautiful as was El Jem (where they filmed Gladiator) both worth visiting.
The only downside was - we were recommended by our Rep to use a young man who works for the hotel if we wanted to go on trips etc, but BE WARNED, go on the trips with him but do not let him talk you into buying any "Gold" we purchased from him in good faith nearly £300 worth of "Gold" and have had it tested back in London and none of it is gold. We did not ask for cheap priced gold or anything "off the back of a lorry" we just wanted names and souvenirs of Tunisia in gold and we were conned. He also took us to a carpet factory and we parted with nearly £200 for a very small rug which we have been told is hand made and will take months to make and will be delivered to us by xmas, I just hope we receive it. So just be very careful.
Apart from this we had a really nice relaxing holiday and hope to go back next year - not purchasing gold or any carpets.

just returned from 2 weeks in the royal miramar. Food was terrible with no kids menu although this was advertised. Drinks where very expensive and were increased whilst we where there, price comparison water in hotel 3 dinar outside hotel less than 1 dinar. You are not allowed to bring drinks or food into the hotel from outside and are searched by security on entry, they will confiscate anything if found. Sunbeds are 3 dinar a day although this was not advertised. Hotel is very remote and you need to get a taxi to go anywhere.
Good points - animation team are very good and work very hard, rep was very good
