cheap
from lfc84
We had 3 studios and stayed from Sep 1 - 15th. We booked accomodation (room only) using Travelocity. The first thing to say is it was cheap. We wanted a holiday as cheap as possible and got it. The main pool is big, there were sufficient sun loungers, location was good, Legends bar and Irish pub within a few minutes walk. San Blas is about 5euro in a cab, where there are plenty more restaurants... That's about it on the positive side of things. It has the facilities of a 3* on paper and ticks the boxes in order to meet the rating, but the facilities are either shabby, run down or dont work properly. So dont use the rating as your definitive guide. None of the studios had air conditioning or a fan. None of the studios have a kettle (despite being self catering). We anticipated this and took a travel kettle. There was nothing we could take with us to combat the heat in the rooms, and since we were on a budget we didnt hire a fan from reception. None of the party tried the cooker, but one did use the hob in one of the studios. We had 2 studios on the ground floor, one of which happened to be above the pool filtration and chlorination equipment. This made it extremely hot for the entire 24 hours. It didnt cool at night in this room and because it was on the ground floor we couldnt leave the terrace door open. the other room on the ground floor didnt have this problem. The fridges in all rooms worked fine so it was possible to chill the beers. The 3rd room was on the 2nd floor and was newly decorated. The rooms on the ground floor were in need of decorative attention. In respect of cleaing, it was pot luck, depending on which room you were in. In the first week, the room on the 2nd floor had the towels changed every 2 days and the beds changed 3 times. On the ground floor one room had the bed changed once and the other twice, which the towels were changed twice in one room and not at all in the other. During the second week the beds were changed in all rooms once, whilst towels were changed twice. Those occupying each of the 3 rooms complained to reception and were told that it would be done, but it wasnt. The only way we managed to resolve the issues with cleaing were to take the stuff off the maid (once she had gone further down the corridoor) and do it ourselves. The maids appeared to do rooms at random if at all. The floors were not mopped during our stay and having walked round the roms once in bare feet it was pretty obvious they had never been done, so we wore flip flops inside the rooms. The bathrooms werent cleaned and we had to go the shop to even buy toilet rolls. again we highlighted this but nothing was done. Regarding security.....we had a hire car in the second week and used the hotel car park. Absolutely fine - no problems with parking the car. In terms of room security....we heard of 5 rooms being broken into and stuff stolen dirung the first week. This might have been an isolated few incidents, but it was a bit worrying. We heard of clothes being taken and some electronic stuff. The door lock broke whilst we were inside the rom and the key (inserted on the inside) couldnt open the door. We called our friends in the other room down the corridoor and they went to get maintenance. Within 5 minutes we had the lock removed from the door and a new one put on and were then released from the room. An exapmple of how quick people can gain access to poorly secured doors. There were a number of doors were it was evident that screw drivers had been used to tamper with the door locking mechanism, which also added to our concerns about security. Overall, I would stay at this place again despite what i have wrote because it was so cheap. BUT bear that in mind. Every time I found fault with something I said to myself.....remember what you paid and remember that you get what you pay for. After all this is the cheapest 3* accomodation in Tenerife. After two days you forget about the planes and dont realise they are going overhead. Sunday is the quietest day, and between about 0000 and 0630 there is only about 1 per hour. Again despite what i have wrote we did have a good time, the location is good, its close to the airport, taxis are available right outside, its near San Blas, the staff are friendly (albeit inefficient), the pool is good, 2 bars near by are good & cheap, you get an excellent breakfast at caddyshack. The airport is 9 euro in a cab. Las Americas was 30 euro (if i remember correctly). I suggest a visit to Los Abrigos which for me was the highlight of the trip.
Definitely not 3*

I have just come back from Aparthotel Green Park on Friday 20 October 2006. Advertised as a 3* complex, I was rather disappointed. No Air conditioning or fan, not even a kettle to make a coffee! And the cooker didn't work! I tried (unsuccessfully) for an hour to heat some water so I could have a cup, and ended up buying a travel kettle. Granted, the towels were changed every other day, and the floors mopped and bathroom cleaned, but the sheets were never changed during the two weeks I stayed there. I have never experienced that before, not even in 2* accommodation.
fantastic day entertainment
from els2208
After reading the reviews we were sceptical, but we came here last year, and this year surpassed last year, we had a fantastic holiday, the apartments are large, maybe cooking utensils are basic, but hey, I come on holiday not to cook. The daily entertainment was amazing, Ricardo is fantastic, great with adullts and kids alike, a great find for this hotel (wasn't there year before) we can't wait to see him again. Nightly entertainment could be better, but we ventured to local hotels or to San Blas, some exceptional eating places there, try the chinese/indian,, fantastic, even do doggy bags (home all over), overall we had a fantastic time here and would come back, you do get used to the planes (being near to airports an advantage), if you want 5 star not for you, if you want down to earth basic friendly home from home then I can't fault it, have a fab time xx
Had a nice break
from holidaytripper
Had a nice break at this accomodation in September. We stayed in a studio with inland view which was fine for our needs although to describe it as self catering was stretching the truth slightly if you intend to do cooking on holiday which I dont when food is very reasonably priced in the restuarants. The Irish restuarant on site serves lovely food at a good price (try their sunday roast). If you have a travelkettle take it as they charge to hire one. I must say the beds were very comfortable although basic and the pillows were the softest I have ever had abroad ( I normally take my own but glad I didn't bother this time.) The pool was fine with loads of sunbeds. Not a lot going on in the area but after meeting a couple who told us of San Blas we took a taxi there every evening 5 euro with tip and had a great time. This is basic accom. but at a very cheap price so how can you complain. We had a clean and comfortable bed to sleep in a clean bathroom to shower in and a decent balcony to have a coffee when I woke up to see the sun rising promising another warm day ahead.
Do not stay here!!

Oh my god this hotel is a nightmare. I was there between 18/8 - 26/8. We were due to arrive at 1am but had a delay and arrived at 6am. They informed us we had no room. After a little confusion they allocated us a room with 3 single beds. Quite annoying for me and my partner but I thought 'oh well lets get on with the holiday and push them together'. The room was ok but not great. There is no aircon or a fan which we desperately needed in the stiffling heat. If you dare to open your bedroom window through the night you will not sleep. The planes fly over all day and night. They are so loud that you have to stick your fingers in your ears. We had about 3 hrs sleep max each night and couldnt relax during the afternoons either. Between 3-4 am the bins are collected, at approx 7am the skips are changed, the swimming pool sun loungers are smashed around by the pool cleaners between 8-9am and there is a constant stream of very loud spanish people walking up and down the corridors all day from 8am. You will never get any peace never mind a decent sleep. I was aware that we were booked in a hotel under the flight path but I assumed it would be ok. No way! It is horrible! There is an english rep based in the hotel who is helpfull enough, she has so many complaints each day from customers that she just hands out complaint forms to anyone. I complained so many times. Firstly because we booked a room for 2 adults and a child. We were given 2 small towels, 2 plates, 2 cups, 1 extremelly large cooking pot, no knife and no kettle. Impossible to cook!!!!!! No self catering here! We then complained that we needed extra cutlery and towels, we were informed we couldnt have any. Then our drain became blocked and spurted sewage all over the bathroom floor. I was told to wait until Monday and someone will come. I had to use our towels to clean it up as much as I could. I then needed new towels and was told to come back on Tuesday and ask. But they were handing them out to anyone speaking spanish right in front of me. I fixed the drain myself as no one ever came. Everyone we spoke to were having the same problems or even worse. If you havent already booked this hotel. STOP! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! To make matters even worse, the security guy changed our locks when we were at the pool because he thought we were meant to leave the day before. I then had to have a very heated argument with the staff to get the locks changed again. We had a nightmare holiday and you will too if you stay here.
cheap....thats all

Stayed at the Green Park for 8 nights in August. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the room. The staff were very helpfull, changing the room after the first night as we were happy with the roadside location! I do think it helped that my partner was Spanish! As we arrvived vey late the first night...it was quite uuneventful and slept well. The next day we decided to go the supermarket on the complex....could not belive the prices they were charging. It great if you want Britsih produce..but a total rip off. the Netto in San Blas is also a rip off. They are obviously aimed at British tourists. There is a Mercadona about 3 mins drive away from the Hotel. Stock up there! back to the hotel......The first real night there was spent a little tipsy beside the pool watching the landing gear of the planes arriving Its a spectacle and DAMN LOUD. no matter what ppl say..you cannot get away from this noise. it starts at 7 in the morning and continues until about 3am at 15 minute intervals. (wecounted!) Its quite a sight. for this reason alone i would not return to Green Park. i live on a busy street so i'm used to noise..but this is shocking. The room was cleaned once during our stay..because we asked. Another time i took the broom from the cleaner to swep it myself. Same with towels..you have to ask. The 2 pc's in the hotel also seemed to be broken. no interent for me. Overall you get an ok room for a great price. The staff were fine, no problem with other hotel users. Would only recommend it for groups wanting a cheap bed for the night while travelling to toerh parts of the Island. i recommend going up the Teide, Loro Park....the rockier northern shores. Hire a car and explore. a really beautiful Island.

Me and my now fiance travelled to Tenerife on the 30th of July 2006. Most things in Tenerife are more expensive than they are in Britain. We saw alot of restaurants charging 5 Euro's for a glass of orange juice. We regularly travelled to Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos in the hope of finding good shopping but instead found the same shop replicated 800 times everywhere we looked. One of the items i wanted to get over there for the flight back was a GBA:SP, after asking everybody i could find and haggling for a few hours in total I managed to get an offer for 70 Euro's. A quick check online shows amazon about £10 cheaper. Anyway, back to Green Park. We didn't have any room cleaning throughout our entire stay, we even asked for clean towels at reception towards the end of our holiday and were told we had to ask the cleaner. We asked where the cleaner was and were told she was cleaning. By the end of our holiday our towels were disgusting. There are good facilities nearby to Green Park, San Blas for example is a great group of shops & restaurants. The Friends bar was brilliant with Play your cards right and Karaoke :) We felt unwanted by most of the locals, bus drivers hated picking us up and waiting for us to find the right change, taxi drivers didn't go by the meter unless told to, drinks were sold to us at double the menu price on 2 occasions. We saw an old couple verbally abused near the beach by some people with some kind of lottery game. Groups of [---] local black women constantly asked to braid my fiance's hair, everytime they were told politely no but everytime we walked past them again they would ask again... after the first couple of days this gets very annoying. The highlight of our holiday (other than getting engaged) was the medieval night at San Miguel castle. One of the best nights out ever! You pay 50 Euro's each for : * Hotel Pickup * Unlimited drink (red wine, white wine, orangeade, beer was 5 euro's for 3-4 pints I think) * A whole chicken (or vege lasagne/chips) * Excellent entertainment * You see Knights fighting with big long poles and horses doing cool things, although by this time your so drunk they could just put on an episode of Mr Bean and you would be just as happy * Music/Dancing afterwards * Hotel dropoff Overall Go to Tenerife if you have plenty of spending money, do the medieval night, go see some Dolphins jumping about your boat and bring me back 2 litres of whisky. But I would never, EVER, go back to Green Park again. EVER
Great value for money

Opted for a cheaper than usual hoiday albeit we stayed at the Golf Plaza in the Golf del Sur last year. For the difference in price, we would definitely go back to Green Park. The studio was spacious, clean and well equipped. The staff friendly throughout and the residents who were mainly British couldn't have done more. The bars on site are welcoming and very cheap. Never noticed the aircraft noise after the first day. The pools were a bit cold but when it's 85 deg that came as something of a bonus! We paid less than half of what we paid to stay in the plaza and probably had a better time and enjoyed better facilities. You couldn't get a dirty B&B in Margate for what we paid per night and we would have been happy paying more. Book directly if the package price doesn't seem markedly cheaper than more up-market hotels.
Not Bad At All

I'll keep it short and sweet The Bad * Flight Noise. It’s not a major problem. * No way of cooking if you’re SC. You only get 4 hobs. No oven, No microwave, not even a kettle * The pool is too cold to use. I dived in on our first day and nearly drowned. Could not get my breath or swim back to the edge * Its very windy in this area. You also get a lot of cloud from the mountain drifting over so not much sun!!!! If you go 5 mile down the road to tourvisco, you get no wind, better sun, cheaper food, drink, fags * Noise from the karaoke at sundown’s bar. (This is only the case if you get a pool view room) The Good * The rooms were tidy and cleaned 3 times during our week stay * The staff was more than happy to help if there were problems * Security staff was on site at all time * Some activity’s for children to do (Darts, Archery, Pool etc) * Taxi rank outside the Irish bar that don’t rip you off (say your a resident at green park and you get a better rate) * The prices around the resort are very expensive. Overall if you come here open minded you will have a great time. Hope this help
Mixed feelings

Stayed at Green Park in second week of April. We had a pleasant holiday and found the hotel reasonably clean and the staff varied in helpfulness but were mostly nice enough. We went self-catering which was easy as there are ample little supermarkets dotted around close to, some selling English products! We walked in the evenings to San Blas where there was a clean square with touristy shops and restaurants and usually some form of open air entertainment which was quite amusing, especially the fire eater...The golf courses gave the area quite a smart, clean appearance and there is certainly some construction being carried out which in the years to come should result in a fairly up-market feel to the area, but at present it is undergoing quite considerable changes. We would probably try and stay in San Blas if we go back to this island as we found Green Park quite noisy at times, with planes low flying (and at night) and buses, taxis and general maintenance vehicles being driven very noisily at break-neck speed passed the side of the building we, amongst many others, were on. However, considering that we had not paid huge amounts to stay here all in all we had a good deal - cheap and "quite" cheerful!

Had stayed here before for a cheap holiday in 2oo6. Basic accomodation, good pool. Now hotel has left, some problems apparently. All private apartments now. Booked a studio in September 2010 overlooking the pool for £175 per week for both of us! Clean, almost luxurious... more
