Mar 2008, Sunshineguy

We did this as a late booking and we foud the apartments where great, really clean, and the resort was just what we where looking for, no mad crowds, well described on the website. First time we Have used BookMe2 and would definatly use them again, even got luggage lables in the post from them and a letter when we got home!
If you are staying in Golf del sur, I would recomend a car, otherwise it can be a little isolated, and difficult to get out and about (we like to travel arround a bit when we are on holiday)
Lorro park is well worth a visit, and the Medeival night too (you can book it yourself, and drive up - it's a lot cheaper.
A little tip when hiring a car - I alsays book the smallest one they have available to rent on the website, usually (and I mean 9 times out of 10) they never have the smallest car available at the rental location, so they have to upgrade you free!

2 star accommodation that is tired...
5 / 10
Mar 2008, Mr B Jones

2 star accommodation that is tired but surface clean. The bedding and towels clean, towels(which were soft/white) changed 4x in our two week stay. The complex was well maintained, pool and surrounding area cleaned each day while we were there, but you do need to be up early to see them(0700) start. General areas tidy and mopped but litter dropped by guests in corridors can be left for a day or two. Didn’t see any nasty bugs(we were on first floor) nor any silver fish, a few tiny ants around edge of sun-bed areas and we saw them spraying around edges one day, so that was good. Sun-beds were free but again basic and plenty of them. THE POOLS ARE UNHEATED, but you do get acclimatised and need to keep swimming.
Yes it is on the flight path, being 1minute flight from landing, which is quieter than should wind change and they take off over you. Keep your doors and corridor windows shut at night then planes not disturbing, I’m a light sleeper and fridge cycling disturbed me more than planes(not many in early hours) , ear plugs worked well.
What you pay is what you get, reasonable value, many of other guests we spoke to were happy enough with Green Park and said “well you don’t spend much time in your room”.
Kitchenette; hob has four rings but there are only three pans. Take your own scissors, sharp knife, corkscrew, egg cups. There is no kettle, or toaster/grill but you can hire them €15 each/wk (also hair drier), so take you travel kettle or buy one there form supermarket. Waste bins only emptied every other day & not on Sunday.
Overall staff pleasant and our dead light and dangerous socket outlet in kitchenette were dealt with promptly within 4hours impressive.
Do use the safe - again €15/wk. Pay television but unless your sports mad don’t bother, watch a bar’s instead.
Do buy a bus card €12(from Hole19 supermarket) its 30-50% cheaper to travel and get a proper timetable from bus station then you know when buses are coming and despite what they say they start their journeys on time. Its cheaper to go direct to LosChristianos on bus 483 and much quicker 20mins, half of time by bus 470.
If you want a cheap good supermarket then go to mercadona yes it’s a brisk 20min walk but you can catch the bus back and you’ll save your bus fare on your first bottle of wine and they have some great meat and fresh fish.
We are aged in late 50's.

Hotel accomodation and amenities were...
10 / 10
Mar 2008, MCC

Hotel accomodation and amenities were absolutely fine, I've been to a lot worse. The rooms were cleaned reguarly (as well as by ourselves). So much to see and do, i recommend getting a car.
Only thing I didn't like about Tenerife was how unfriendly the locals and settlers are.
If I could pick up this hotel and put it in Greece I so would.
Not one complaint about the hotel.

Mar 2008, Mr C PETERS

if you are unlucky enough to end up here then all i can say is good luck, this place is without doubt the worst hotel i have ever had the misfortune to step foot in,from start to finish this this place is an absolute nightmare come true, the receptionist is useless it took two hours to get us checked in at 3 in the morning,we were tired and hungry,i had to go to the hotel next door to buy snacks from there machine, the rooms were grotty and thats putting it mildly, the balcony was full of rubbish that people had thrown out,the food was absolutly disgusting,i can honestly say i would not give it to my dog,the holiday spends i took for the kids were used on eating out,i would have trottled the manager if i could of got my hands on him, this place is disgusting and i cannot think of one good thing to say about it,i,ve rated it as 1,and that is being very generous,as i said if your unlucky enough to end up here, then the best of luck.

Mar 2008, Miss NC Kirk

OK, so if you like me are were reading the above reviews after you had already booked- DONT PANIC! No green park is not a five star hotel but no it is not the worst place ever! Firstly, go self-catering, there was adequate fridge, hobs, cutlery and plates for about four people. Our room was lovely, quite spacious living area, beds and balcony. It was cleaned every other day if not more often whilst we were there. Yes aeroplanes are flying overhead but to be honest they didnt bother us once. The receptionists we found very helpful, they helped us book to excursions (i would really recommend a boat trip with Freebird, its 49 euros but they pick u up from the hotel, its five hours on a boat we saw whales, dolphins and a sea turtle, there was a nice lunch and free drinks and we went for a quick snorkel in los gigantes masca bay- WELL WORTH IT!) The pool was nice with plenty of sun loungers and the small town of san blas is nearby with restaurants and shops and a supermarket. There is another bigger mercado about a fifteen minute walk away, you can get everything here for quite cheap. Would definitely recommend going into the playa des americas, loads of great shops inc designer labels, a nice beach, restaurants etc. You can get the bus here easily from the hotel ask at reception but is at bus stop outside golf plaza hotel. costs about 2.30 euro. last bus home is at half 8 so i would suggest going early (bus takes about an hour) taking beach stuff, pack lunch, money etc and staying the whole day you can mix up shopping with sunbathing! In san blas would suggest the indian Taj resturant as was one of the best indians i have had and i like indians! Another day trip i suggest is to aqualand, especially if you have young kids, bring a pack lunch tho! its 27 euros to be picked up from the hotel and that includes entry in and entry to the dolphin show! In short, enjoy hour holiday, make the most of tenerife and enjoy green park- it is more than adequate!

Feb 2008, Mr J Lucas

It cost me £560 for two including flights and transfers to this resort, for a one week stay. I would say that I got value for money. Tell me where in the UK you will get the same weather this time of year and for the same price. Yes there is aircraft noise, if you do your homework and that bothers you then dont go. The pool is cold, I am told that its very much the same in the other Aparhotels. Its not for you if the nightlife is a must. The bars do open late though. I would not say its for the little ones, more an adult resort. San Blas is only a short walk away it is serviced by a number of shops and restaurants. If you take the cab its 4 euro's. Other resorts are within easy reach. Overall a good winter holiday location and good value. You could always stay in the uk and go in a Travel Lodge for a week and pay the same!

This is a review from a couple aged...
8 / 10
Feb 2008, Mr T J Williams

This is a review from a couple aged 50 and 45 so is obviously more relevant to people of that age group. Having booked Green Park before having looked at the other reviews, I must admit to arriving with a bit of trepidation. However, I must class this resort as great value for money. If you are expecting a 5 Star resort for £120 per week then you deserve to be disappointed!
GOOD POINTS:
- We arrived at 1.30am and the night porter was polite and efficient. Our electricity didn't work in the rooms (because we hadn't switched on the mains switch) but a handy man came within 1 minute and sorted it out.
- Our security safe wasn't working but again within 10 minutes an outside contractor had been called and dealt with the problem (it needed a new battery)
- Reception staff (I dealt with 4) were friendly and efficient; one was British and the others Spanish.
- The paella made by Pepe at the poolside bar was exquisite and cost Euro 7.50, a totally passable house wine was only EURO 6 per bottle.
- Rooms were of a decent size and were cleaned and the towels changed every 2 days
- We hired a car so were fortunate to be able to visit other parts of the island, nearby San Blas is worth a visit or two, we drove, but I guess a 10-15 minute walk. Lots of restaurants and some shops, including a quite nice Netto, (not like their British branches).
We found a Chinese buffet for about EURO 6.50 each. We loved Los Abrigos, a small fishing village about 3km away, eat at the Los Abrios restaurant where you choose your own fish to eat and a table by the window overlooking the harbour is great. A 2 course meal here costs about Euro 70 including wine.
- Try and visit El Medano, a larger but still in the main undiscovered coastal town, great for windsurfers etc and with some lovely bars and restaurants overlooking the sea.
- If you want busier nightlife Green Park is about a 15-20 minute drive from Los Cristianos and Las Americas. The latter in my opinion being Tenerife's Blackpool (but less classy!!!!!) but I am 50 so perhaps it's not my scene anymore.
- Within easy walking distance there are plenty of bars and restaurants but maybe research the area first and get a local map
BAD POINTS:
- It is on the airport approach, but all the information tells you this, so if you are a light sleeper, this place may not be for you. We found it not to be a problem and sat on the balcony drinking wine and plane spotting!
- Golf Del Sur is growing and I foresee problems in getting out of the area in future as there is only one road out and it gets busy at rush hours and this is only going to get worse as the area expands.
- We didn't self cater, other than morning coffees and snack lunches so cannot comment on the cooking facilities, however they did seem a bit sparse, not even a kettle or toaster provided. We had been warned and took a travel kettle. You can hire them but they might prove expensive.
- There was a TV in the room but it was not free, I think it was about EURO 3 per day to have it enabled. We didn't bother but it would be nice if this was included.
Overall, I guess the holiday moaners will find lots to moan about here, but, if you want a good base to stay at a budget price then I would recommend Green Park.

Jan 2008, Miss D Page

Do not stay here!!! We arrived and when we entered all the receptionist knew what to say was voucher. We had to wait ages for our room. Once in room they were filthy, especially the bathroom. The beds were something you would get in a prison cell. Food was freezing, you might as well be sat down with a cat there were about 40 of them around the kitchen area.
Pool area was dirty and needs a lot of work doing to it. Plane noise is loud 24 hours a day.
It costs 20euros each way to get to a decent beach and also to some night life.

Jan 2008, Miss GDv Edwards

Basically the hotel was rubbish; no entertainment, no reps to help you settle in, no general hygiene in the rooms, the rooms very basic and got cleaned twice in the week I stayed there, the bars on sight well nothing special to them really. Ledgends bar & bar Dorbet, nothing good about them; no entertainment in there at all just at Sundowners very welcoming people, freindly, food well thats another thing that comes with complaining nothing for they children to eat, same things all the time. Bar staff were very freindly, but as for reception staff cant speak any english really just odd words here and there.
Pools were freezing, people ended up being ill while on their holidays because of the coldness of the pool .. some people couldn't even put there foot in the water because it was that cold. As for the hotel being three stars well I wouldn't even give it a star basically.
If you are going to Green Park I would totally advise you to .. change where you are staying. Golf del Sur is a nice place but just not the Hotel Green Park, I would advise; Winter Gardens or the Palms .. very nice apartments there well cleaned very hygienic, good entertainment ..staff which can speak english!
GREEN PARK IS A TOTAL BOMBSITE - except Sundowners .. best pub in Golf del Sur .. entertainment, freindly people and staff specially Jackie x

This hotel is overall ok, things that...

Oct 2007, Miss L Elliott

This hotel is overall ok, things that you need to watch out for is the location, Golf del Sur is very quiet with not alot going on, there are a handful of shops, bars and eateries but not alot of choice.
The nearest resort Las Americas is about 20 mins away although it is so close the taxi costs about 20 euros per way, the bus is not an option because they don’t stick to a regular timetable and they take over an hour to get to Americas!
The hotel rooms are basic and you get what you pay for, the maid does visit reguraly. The hotels facilities are good, there are 3 swimming pools. one which is meant to be heated, one large which is freezing and the other was closed down. There are a few cafes and bars within the complex and the sundowner bar for night time isnt my scene but was very popular. The hotel staff were ok, there is a travel agent within the complex where you can book local excursions and they will pick you up directly from the hotel.
The food at this hotel is horrible and the dining room is equally as bad, there is no choice and it’s disgusting, we paid for half board and ended up eating out every night.
If you are looking for a cheap getaway to the sun then the Green Park is perfect, but if you are looking for somewhere decent then I would not recommend Green Park!

I'll try and make this short and...
7 / 10
Apr 2007, Ms Nikki Z.

I'll try and make this short and sweet.
With myself being Canadian and my partner British, our standards of quality kinda differ.
We realized that Green Park was a 2* and we paid £135 each for a week self-catering. After reading the reviews (after we booked) I was extremely upset for the future of our trip.
I’ll complain about anything if it needs to be brought to attention but the things I read were devastating. DON’T PANIC! What these people have to understand is “you pay for what you get”.
I was relieved when I saw how big the room was! Little kitchen area, bathroom, 2 twin beds (we pushed together), dining room table and little lounge area with couch and TV. It was perfect. Get a room on a lower floor as the planes do come in close, earplugs for light sleepers.
We ate dinner on the balcony every night, but don’t close the door all the way or you’ll get locked out! Whoops!
The lady at reception was not very helpful and sometimes rude and ya, the cleaning crew doesn’t visit every 2 days but come on, do you change your sheets at home every 2 days? I think not. It’s a 2* people! Not the Ritz
We rented a car with TRC right beside a shop that had the best rates, 3 days for 70 Euros. We explored the island but spent most our time on the Del Duque beach which is a white sand beach and looks like a ritzy type of area.
All expensive name brand shops (Versace, Gucci) and bargain stores with a nice long path to walk down watching the sunsets. We shopped at Mercadona, which is the big supermarket before entering Golf del Sur (much cheaper than any of the shops).
The fish and seafood is at bargain prices and they clean them for you. The deli counter was interesting since neither of us spoke Spanish but we managed and made our own sandwiches for the beach. Half board is not worth it told to us by another guest.
All in all it was a cheap vacation for us and we enjoyed the warm weather and adventure around the island.
It was definitely worth going back to work and making everyone envious of my golden sun kissed tan.
