Submitted By: Mrs J HaneyWe booked the holiday through BIC Leisure as a discounted bonus week on the condition we attended a 90 min presentation. After we had booked we checked out this site and found some reports of 'hard selling' which did concern us. However on the Saturday after we arrived in Tenerife we were met by a polite and friendly representative who arranged an appointment for our presentation during the week. When it came to the presentation it was very relaxed, and at no point did we feel that we were put under presure to buy anything. We were very interested in what they had to offer and our time with the rep did run over the 90 mins but mostly because we were asking all the questions.
If you get the chance to go to this Hotel, even as a bonus week, we would say go for it.

Submitted By: Mr S JohnsonWe needn't have worried as
a) Golf Del Sur is a lovely area, NO street traders! No-one jumping out at you from restaurants, and no chinese ladies with clockwork rats. (Who would want one anyway?)
Lovely golf courses, good choice of places to eat out, and check out the marina, a really nice place for a walk after dinner.
The planes do go over the golf courses but they aren't as loud as some of the trousers the golfers were wearing, and they don't go directly over the hotel. (The planes not the golfers)
b) Golf Plaza is without doubt the nicest hotel we have stayed in. It reeks luxury and quality. It is a new hotel and everything is still fresh, unlike some that we have stayed in, which are old and in need of a refurb.
Our suite was so large I joked that we had to share with another family, which did not impress my wife at all. What did impress her was the excellent standard of service we received from the staff, they really do like to make you feel looked after.
Relaxing by the pool on our comfy sun loungers whilst planning a treat in the spa, will be a lasting memory.
c) The presentation was relaxed, polite, no pressure, and most importantly of all, it really was just an hour and a half.
The staff at BIC seem happy, it is a nice company to deal with and although my wife and I declined their offers, there were no hard feelings from them, and we parted on good terms.
All in all, a lovely area, excellent hotel, and a nice co to deal with.

I do agree however, that the Timeshare business has more sharks and dodgy characters than the motor trade, especially the re-sale business. RCI needs to take some leadership and control here. I think the more of us that canvas this the better chance we have of regulating things.

Submitted By: Mr M PollingtonWe didnt eat at the hotel so i can't comment on the food but found places around the area which we thought were lovely. The area is ideal for couples and golfers and probably retired people but there was not a lot of entertainment for children. There is a bus stop outside the hotel which worked on a hourly timetable. Couldnt fault the hotel and will not hesitate to return.

Submitted By: barryhiWe have never taken up these offers before but this deal was so good we thought it worth the risk.
The hotel is excellent and difficult to fault - my wife made full use of the spa facilities!! - We had a great room looking back towards the mountains. We found the aircraft noise minimal whilst in and around the hotel as the flight path is a little further inland.
We attended the presenation with treidation (this was part of the offer) but it turned out to be very relaxed and although we were tempted we decided against another week due purely to our personal circumstances. There was no problem, and they even bought us another drink at the nearby bar before taking us back to the hotel.
All in all a fabulous holiday and we would certainly consider any future promotions that come our way.

Submitted By: Mr M JimmyBullet points as to the reason for crapness (specifically this hotel, but also Tener-griefe in general):
(1) If you know about travel and class of stays, and expect a certain feel to a 4*hotel, then this will simply NOT agree with you. It is most certainly not a 4* in the international standard --barely 3* infact! As with most Spanish destinations, they overrate their hotels by between 1-2 star ratings, and this was probably a bad 3*.
(2) PLANE NOISE: was not advised of this on booking, and it WILL get on your nerves. Especially when you had a late night out, only to be awoken at 6am(!) by the first plane of fresh chavs from 'oop-north' English towns arriving.
(3) RUDE MAIDS: speaking of late nights out, if you want a lie-in the next morning, forget it! From 8am till they manage to get you out of your room through constant harassment --ie. ringing on the doorbell (every room seems to have one for some strange reason -- IN A HOTEL ??) at least once every 30 mins-- until you get out of the room. This so-called 4* hotel has never heard of the "do not disturb" cards the rest of the planet has.
(4) CHAVS: yep mentioned the plane loads of them already flying-in from 6am every morning over your head... Just wait til you go to Las Americas (LA) or Los Cristianos (LC) next to it, and that's all you'll see. Don't even think about the Sunday market on the seafront of LC; the nastiest, cheapest load of pieces of shit stalls all trying to sell to you that you've ever seen. You'll notice everyone just walks through it but no one seemed to be buying anything, except northern chavs that is.
Checkpoint to note: the p***-up bars these people love when they're on holiday are ALL that exists in the towns. Even the better restaurants are not very good, if you have been brought-up with London/S.East UK standards. You won't find them here.
(5) POOL: looks nice, just one major thing they might have thought about given it's Dec not the middle of ruddy summer; IT WAS FREEZING!
'mmm... should we perhaps heat the pool at this time of year? nah ****-it, can't be arsed, let em freeze'.
(6) FOOD: rule of thumb; **NEVER EAT ANYTHING IN THIS HOTEL!!** Breakfast was buffet-style and the quality of the ingredients was the cheapest bulk-buy crap possibly ever found in the western world. Lunch/dinner was even WORSE. Rubbery, fatty meat anyone? mmm, yes please, YUCK.
Everything tastes horrible, so just don't bother. Notice every room has it's own kitchen, the managment know it's crap so I'm sure are gonna turn the place into a self-catering place any day now... Even our rep agreed with us FFS(!) -- so why the hell are they selling the place to us holidaymakers on a bloody half-board basis, one can but wonder ?! ... oh yeah; they think they can get away with it and they want our money, that could be the reason...
(7) TENERIFE: look, it's a s*** place OK. End of. (*)
(* Chav's please ignore this statement, as I'm sure you'll love the peed-up mediocre-ness of the place -- just go to Linekers bar as you all seem to do). Blackpool with the sun basically.
(8) WHERE ARE WE?: stuck in the sodding middle of nowhere, that's where!
Buses/taxis to get to anywhere. oh, but I should warn you, the buses don't turn-up on time or ever. And thus taxis of exorbitant lack of value for money are therefore the order of the day.
The most (i) B O R I N G ... (ii) U N C U L T U R E D ... (iii) C H A V - I N F E S T E D place in the world.

Submitted By: Mr P.J OxladeThe rooms were very spacious and well kept the maids come in every day. We had a ground floor apartment overlooking the pool so had the sun most of the day. There was entertainment in the downstairs bar every night which was great as we had the room right next to it (not too far to stagger back to the room after a couple of Vodka & Cokes.)
We never tried the restaurant as we went out every night so cannot comment on it, the best meal we had was at the Caddyshack just up the road - excellent steak. Brilliant Irish bar opposite or you had legends bar next door, also great fish and chips at The Trawlers Bar at San Blas with excellent entertainment.
We hired a car which you will need as you are a bit out on a limb there, ideal for going to the massive Market at Los Cristianos on Sundays, do not pay to park your car use the free car park between the golf plaza and the albatross next door.
Can highly recommend trying Atlántico Excursions for the usual tours, the others just left people waiting for hours or did not turn up at all.
You must go and see Mount Teide but take a jacket as it can get very windy up there, also try the full island tour.
If you can ignore being under the flight path (which by the way you do get used to you) you will have a fantastic holiday, ideal for golfers and those just wishing to relax and enjoy the most pleasant surroundings.
" We went with Continental Alliance... "
Submitted By: StirlingThe hotel was clean and staff pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious and overlooked the pool, much better than overlooking the road. The kitchen area was basic but served its purpose. There was a hairdryer in the lovely bathroom, soo ladies no worries about doing your hair! (or de-misting the mirror when everyone has used the shower).
The TV in the room only picked up 1 or 2 English channels and try as we might there was no way the Play Station would work on it.
Hotel entertainment was OK, but preferred a game of pool and the banter with some of the holiday makers, all washed down with a vodka and coke.
The surrounding restaurants are very good, which was great because even though I am good at it I hate cooking! The beach, well we couldn't find it! So we got a taxi (about 3 Euros) to San Blass beach which took about 4 mins and couldn't find a beach there either, but there are more restaurants and shops.

Submitted By: Mrs W CastleAs hotel only 10 mins from airport you must expect aircraft noise most of the day and into the night! Rooms OK but very basic - no microwave, limited kitchen equipment, spartan interior.
Finding a beach was a bit of a trek! Nothing close at hand - taxi to El Medano was the best bet which was about 15 mins ride.
The whole area is still being developed so lots of cranes and building sites. Not a very pretty area, nothing you would go back for unless you like golf of course.

we upgraded to a suite becouse the rooms were basic food we have had better in a 2 star,
A.I. you keep fit moving to different bars when 1 stops 1 starts.
