Hotel Evsen

Just returned from Istanbul having stayed 4 nights at Hotel Evsen. Not knowing Istanbul at all, we booked there based on reviews on this site and are very glad we did. For 30 Euros a night we got a small but comfortable room on the fourth floor (402). There's a lift if you need one. Smart bathroom, mini-bar, flat screen TV, plenty of cupboard space. After reading the Trip Advisor reviews of Hotel Evsen, I decided to book a room for three nights. When I booked the room, the hotel was ranked #6 – but it was down to #13 by the time I stayed there. The room was on the 3rd floor (304) at a rate of 38 EUR per night. PROS I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Even though there were some language barriers, everyone was eager to help. Tucked away in a quiet side street only a five minute walk from Topkapi Palace and the Aya Sofya, we found the Hotel Evsen to be a perfect base for exploring Istanbul's Old City. The Gulhane tram stop is just a few minutes walk away too which we used to get to attractions a bit further away. The room was clean and modern, with a little flat screen tv and a small balcony. Excellent location, great for people who do a lot of sightseeing and want a clean, well heated room and a comfortable bed. Very affordable!

We took a cab from the airport to the hotel, and it was about 30 lira (about $20). The hotel is located on a narrow street, and there is no vehicle traffic on it (which is a plus, as diesel engines are noisy). The cabbie had trouble finding the hotel, but we got there..It's right across The Sapphire hotel which is highly rated on this site (actually called Hotel Safir). This is the place to stay in Istanbul. Located near the Tram, Blue Mosque, Saint Sophia and many other sights. We stayed for 2 nights. We were welcomed with Tea and a friendly smile. The rooms are clean, are nicely decorated, and have everything you want for a sightseeing trip. Importantly, it was safe, and located in a quaint quiet back street surrounded by restaurants. We spent three days at the Hotel Evsen in December and then one more day before flying out in January. I really liked the location of the hotel which is 5-10 minutes walk away from the Blue Mosque, the train station, the tram, the spice Bazaar, the ferries and lots of great places to eat. I had stayed in Sultanahmet before and liked it but I have to say I preferred this location and found it more convenient and central. The Evsen Hotel is in the best part of İnstanbul, as the Topkapi Palace, St. Sophia Mosque, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar are all within walkıng distance. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet and the staff are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Complimentary breakfast was great too. I recommend this hotel to all travellers visiting this city who enjoy a warm clean room and knowing that their belongings are safe.

Hotel Evsen in Istanbul is great. We booked last minute and paid a great price, and couldn't believe our luck. The hotel is brand new and is in an excellent location - tucked into the back streets near Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque, surrounded by lovely restaurants and bars. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. The rooms are slightly small, as I have experienced in many inner city hotels, but if you aren't planning on having a holiday in the hotel it doesn't matter. I have been a few times to Istanbul and tried variety of hotels but this time Evsen gave me a different experience. If I come again to Istanbul my place would be Evsen. Come and feel the experience yourself.
