Very dated hotel - dirty and uncomfortable Greeted by 3 cockroaches in our room on night one. Same again on night 2, same again on night 3 - droppings all over work tops. This was more than the normal amount of cockroaches you'd expect to find in a "hot climate". Thomson... more

A nice place however it is a bit far from the nightlife. Having been told the apartment I booked was near the nightlife and wasn't largely focused on people around the age of 40-80 and families I was a bit angry when I turned up. The pool was nice though and all the staff... more

Different room types
People going here need to remember that there are 4 different types of rooms ( all use the same common facilities) 1. Private owned - private rents 2. Resort controlled rents 3. Tour opertaor apts 4. Timeshares I have stayed 3 times in latter , and they have all been good - now with decent lcd TV , air con, spa bath ... but don't expect that in the other types
the honeymoon from hell
I must admit, that after ready reviews of these apartmnets from many different travel agents and other holiday makers, i thought that it seemed to be a nice place to spend my honeymoon, given that i didn't want anything to posh! the first thing that i found when we arrived was that the man on reception spoke very little english and was not helpful at all in showing us where our room was and there was no-one to help us with our luggage and given the fact that we had a toddler with us, no-one seemed to care. we then spent the first 5 nights of our honeymoon infested by coachroaches, it was the worst experience of my life. i tried to contact our travel rep and was told that i was over reacting and to just accept the fact that this was what we were going to have to put up with the entire time we where there. i have an awful argument with the manager on the monday morning, who informed me that she didn't to move us but given the fact that it was supposed to be our honeymoon she would move us to an apartment that was owned buy a lady who was not using it during our stay, this was done on the understanding that we would not take things any further when we returned home. the apartment that we were moved too was lovely, the lady that owned it had done some work to it and it was nicer, much much nicer that the ones the company owned themselves. would never ever stay in these again.
Not brilliant!!!
Very basic appartment, but that's what you get if you book through a well known travel agent. Slightly dark inside and though patio area was nice the grass area was basically weeds. As our apartment was on the back there were times during the night that it could be very noisy. If you book a studio remember that you will all be sleeping in one room. Maid came every day except Sundays. Not many parasols to go round and people were getting up very early to get sunbeds. When you go to lunch you have to get a ticket to put on your sunbed otherwise the lifeguard may remove your towels. We did this one day and when we came back the lifeguard had put a warning note with a time on, he totally had dismissed the tickets which were clearly on view on the sunbeds. Pool was in good need of a clean - no filters were in operation and the ceramics inside the pool were dirty and broken. Outside area is in need of some attention, with broken steps, pavements and bins that are overflowing. Also be prepared for people pestering you to eat in their restuarants.
Reviews differ from experience
I was really looking forward to my holliday having read the reviews from "previous holidaymakers" but as you will see the reviews are suspiciously inaccurate....... No air conditioning anywhere in resort rooms or lobby(stayed in two different rooms).....it is crazy that a resort in modern day has no air conditioning.. rooms are like ovens really uncomfortable... Cant get a sunbed unless you get up before 9(pool area way overcrowded) ended up going to beach every day...... 45 minute walk to playa de los Americas....... Staff have arrogance in answering your questions - we asked to change room on sat night but we had to wait to talk to manager on Monday - farcical sitution - I complained and all he did was smirk at me claiming no matter what he could not do anything until Monday... Just read some of the below reviews to see how inaccurate the reviews are...... Was extremely dissapointed with this place....
very good
Nice little apartment, very clean and well appointed with new kitchen and air con in living area and bedroom. Pool was good and always managed to find a sunbed when we wanted one. Staff helpful and room cleaned regularly. Good location for beach and wandering into town.
great stay
just got back from tenerife staying at the sunset harbour /pueblo torviscas apts booked a standard room .only downfall was no iron or toaster in room but you coul d hire these if required.they come included in superior rooms.everything nice &clean &helpful staff. .had breakfast all the time at 44 regent street which is a pub /restuarant on site very good value &plenty of it .the sunday dinner is not to be missed.
This Hotel was great
We stayed in this Hotel in Spetember 2007 for a two week break. I realy enjoyed it at this Hotel - the best part has to be the swimming pools that were free form and with very few deep parts so you could just sit in the pool or use your lilo if you wanted to. There are various places to eat and 44 Regent Street was excellent - superb quality food and entertainment every night. There are also loads of shops quite nearby - the ex-market across the road is a bit run down but nowhere near as bad as anywhere in England. The major downside is the parking - if you hire a car it is a total gamble - if you get a parking space you are really lucky. Make sure you get the slush puppies from 44 regent street in the day - get them to mix the strawberry and raspberry flavours - they're great and I had about 10 every day by the pool!!!
We Loved It!
Arrived home yesterday after 2 wonderful weeks at the Pueblo Torviscas apartments! The rooms were fine, always clean! Quite basic but we got by. Staff were so friendly and made our stay very pleasent, they were always willing to help with anything. The reception is open 24 hours and there is security guards on site which was good. The complex had a pool bar which served brilliant food and for very reasonable prices! You could get two meals and two drinks for just over ten euros! Next door to the apartments is a 'Mini Asda' which sells all the British products and food you can think of and its one of the cheapest in the area! The staff there were so friendly and if they didn't have something you wanted they would always try their best to get it for you! The apartments had 2 main pools, one for 'serious swimmers' and another for your lilos, rubber rings etc. There was also a small kiddies pool situated a short distance from the two main pools. A jacuzzi is also by one of the pools. Pools were fantastic and always clean, the temperatures were just right to cool off in the heat! Also, there is an endless supply of sun loungers so you don't have to get up extra early to put your towels on them! Some of the restaurents we ate at were: Da Angelo's - Situated along the seafront. The food was beautiful here and very reasonable. Staff were fantastic and very friendly! Tusscany's Steak House and Pizzera - Down the small hill past the mini asdas. The food was brilliant, slightly more expensive but we didn't mind as the food was lovely. Staff were so friendly and there is live entertainment on every night which was nice to listen to. Mexicano Bar and Grill - Further along the seafront. Great food for great prices! Another great meal we had here and staff were great. I would recommend going to the Jungle Park, it was a great day out and theres plenty to see and do! The aqua park wasn't brilliant, it's very small and not much to do. Don't waste your money on viewing the dolphins in the underwater tunnel. We payed 5 euros to see them and didnt see alot at all! There is only 2 panes of glass to look through and you can't see a thing. However, the dolphin show is free to watch and was absoloutley brilliant! I would reccomend taking your own packed lunch and drink as there is only one small hut which serves food and gets very busy which isn't too nice in the heat! Lockers are available near the enterence, and you get your money back on the lockers when you leave! We had a brilliant holiday at the Pueblo Torviscas apartments, we didn't want to leave! Can't wait to go back next year, hope this review helps!
Comfortable
Stayed at the hotel for 1 week. Clean, 3 star self catering studio apartment. At night our room was too noisy as it was over the resteraunt entertainment but rest of hotel prob quiet. Nice pool, good location, as expected, no frills.
Excellent place to stay
We spent 6 nights here in March 2007, the first night of our stay was in the centre of Las Americas, The Columbus. Pueblo Torviscas was by far the better hotel. We booked with Thomson on accomadation only. At a last minute low price we didn't expect much but the hotel was excellent. Situated 1 mins walk from the Torviscas beach the hotel was in an excellent location. Close to all bars and shops, don't miss the Asda (nice price) for all the best deals. The beach is situated next to the harbour so is enclosed and much better than the main Las Americas beach. The hotel itself is 3 storey aprtments which circle the pool area. There is one long pool (with pool bar) which has a jacuzzi as well. There are also table tennis and pool tables. The apartment was big with a large belcony. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need (although we eat out). Next to the pool the hotel has its own restaurant which has a barbecue buffet on Wednesdays. The nightlife around the hotel was fairly quiet in March, some nice bars which I imagine would be a lot better in the height of season. For a busier selection of bars and clubs Las Americas is a 20 minute walk away. All in all an excellent base if you want to sit round the pool or wander down to the excellent beach.
