Went out for my first trip to Crete and stayed in Luna 1.
Accomodation is excellent. Although basic, it has everything you need and the small complex means you feel a cherished guest rather than just a number.
VERY clean, although rooms are cleaned every other day, the towel and bins are changed every day.
good location about 5 min walk into the centre of Stalis so you get the feeling of not being in the centre with all the noise.
Woudl def recommend the place to friends!!!

good apartments basic with a camp stove as a cooker, charges us 15 euro for a fan for a weak bit steep! gr8 bar there. owners a nut case threatened us wif a tazer gun wen we would not pay for damage to the apartment that was already there! avoid! no pool but can use neighbouring hotels pool!

spent 2 weeks there and enjoyed everything. The owners are really friendly and welcoming.no matter wat u needed they would go out of their to get it. really friendly atmosphere, family friendly. weekly bbq's and karoke where fun owners joining the fun. the food is really nice. the rooms are very big, and clean. pool is big and is kept clean. took my nephew he loved it, the owners really good with children. would go back there again make it a regular hoilday place. A* :-)

We arrived in the middle of the night and were greeted with real friendship. There were 5 of us 3 adults, 1 teenager and an infant of 15months.
After our initial warm feeling everything went down hill from there. We had no cot for the wee one, even though we were assured that this would be made available on arrival. Managed to hire one the next day from the less than enthusiastic rep for 30 euros.
The rest of the 2 weeks was a constant battle to get hot water - a necessary essential but every day the water was freezing which I became distressed about.
The apartment was basic to say the least with none of us having any privacy at all. None of us were impressed by that.
There were no facilities for children at all, nothing. No kiddies pool, just 1 very deep, very cold swimming pool.
We did enjoy the hospitality shown us and of course the barbeque that was available for all. It was very nice.
We have been to Greece many times and enjoyed every time we have been there. Crete is a lovely island and we visited a few places whilst there and would certainly go back.
However, we very much doubt if we would stay at the La Luna Apartments. We dont mind basic but this was just a bit too basic even for seasoned travellers such as we are.

After our first trip to La Luna last August, we returned this year for our honeymoon. It didn't take long before the relaxing atmosphere had us chilled out and feeling right at home from home. Also having met up with several couples who we enjoyed spending time with last year made it all the better... the usual phrase for newcomers is... 'you'll be back' - it certainly was true for us.
Thoxis made my week with his fabulous dance lessons. Lovely family run apartments, very clean rooms, serviced regularly!!!
Looking forward to visiting again... just wish the flight wasn't so long!!! Excel airways were also excellent, no delays and we arrived 30 minutes early. Book now you wont be disappointed especially if the regulars Ronnie and Doreen, Nev and Sandra and Trev and Carol are there(Bar flys - fully fledged LA Lunatics).

The apartments are very nice and set in a very good location; they are within easy walking distance of the centre but far enough away to avoid all of the noise. Although the apartments are set on the main road across the island we didn't experience any road noise. The main problem we experienced during our stay was the other guests! Over the fortnight we were there more and more single sex groups arrived and as a result we didn't spend any of our second week by the pool. Many of the guests are repeat visitors and so as first time guests we felt a little excluded. The resort of Stalis is lovely; it is very obviously a tourist resort. The beaches are very nice and not too crammed. There are also some fab places to eat, one of the best that we found was Minos, and we also enjoyed the Italian (Amici). The Britannia also seemed a good place to spend the night. It is very easy to get around the island by local bus, it is very worthwhile to travel to Agios Nicholas where you can do various things such as have lunch, shop, or go on a boat trip. Elounda is a little further away (2 buses) but still very easy to get to, it is a beautiful quite resort; we got the boat to Spinalonga (the leper island) from here. Travelling in the other direction you can go to the aquarium which is okay but I would recommend the very small aquarium in Hersonossis, it's tiny but a very worthwhile charity. The bus also goes to Heraklion (the capital) where you can shop, visit museums or go to Knossos. All in all we had an excellent holiday and wish we were still there! Perhaps wouldn't choose La Luna again but if you have already booked you really will enjoy your holiday. P.S Hi to Rob and crew. Jenny and Darren.

Arrived at la Luna 1 24th July for a fortnights holiday. Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. George (yiorgos) the owner greeted us as he did everybody with a free drink.
What was to follow was the best two weeks holiday we have ever had yiorgos his wife Helena mum Chrisoula and dad bill not to leave out the main man thoxis and nicos, for this family nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was cleaned on a regular basis and was very spacious. We can see now why most of the people their returned year after year.
I know me and my wife will be returning next year without a doubt, these were the friendliest people I have met whilst being on holiday, we have made some true friends of the salavantakis family, and all the friends we met while we were there.
Will look forward to seeing everybody back there in 2008.

Had a fantastic two weeks at the La Luna where they made you feel very welcome from day one.
The rooms were basic but clean and the pool area was amongst the best I have seen, the pool was clean and very deep at the deep end (about 8 foot) and with the high temperatures was a god send.
George, Nic, and Thoxis were very friendly and the Sunday BBQ with Thoxis is not to be missed, he is fantastic on the Karaoke.
The apartments are situated in a good position (on the main road but not intrusive) with a 5 min walk into Stalis for the bars and restaurants, Malia is a 25min walk away.
A word of warning ... if you intend to hire scooters or quad bikes be aware that most quad bike keys will fit most quad bikes and a few were stolen during our stay.
Also I had the unfortunate experience of hiring a bike from Heronia car and bike hire.. on my last night in the resort my scooter was taken and stripped of parts amounting to approx 300 Euros (my excess was 300 Euros) BUT it was taken and driven 8 kms before being returned (minus the parts). I am not saying it was a scam!! But it was very coincidental. My advice is don’t hire these machines without full insurance if at all.
We would definitely return to La Luna and the sooner the better....can’t wait !

We have just returned from 2 fabulous weeks at the La Luna where the staff (George, Thoxis, and Nic) were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were spot on and the pool is the best that I have ever experienced... clean, warm, and daft as it sounds deep at the deep end!!
The apartments are ideally placed and all the guests’ mix really well sharing the Sunday BBQ is a must and Thoxis is a real star on the Karaoke/entertainment.
A word of warning though...we experienced a possible scam with the scooter rental company. I didn’t take the extra insurance out and on the last night of the scooter rental half the bits on my scooter went "missing". The excess was 300 Euros and guess what the bits to be replaced came to... 300 Euros!!
I would strongly recommend that you do not hire scooters or quads (any key fits all) during your stay.
We will be definitely being going back to La Luna and I can’t praise the staff and the apartments enough. Very enjoyable.

I have just returned from Stalis and stayed at La Luna 2. I have been to Greece many times but have never stayed at a friendlier hotel. The owners, Bill and his wife Chrisulla, their son Yiorgos and wife Helena and staff Thoxis and Nikos are truly the best. There was nothing they would not do for us and their hospitality was second to none.
I am seriously thinking of going back later this year, it was a holiday I will never forget. The rest of the guests were really nice people, it was a pleasure to stay there. Thank you again to everyone at the hotel.
