Hotel Alkan

Me and 3 of my friends stayed in the Alkan hotel at the beginning of June. The hotel itself was lovely, really nice compared to what we were used to on the usual cheapy holidays. Our rooms were spacious, the air con was really good, and the shower was fantastic with the jets! But the bit that really made the holiday for us was all of the staff in Jimmy's Bar below the hotel. Stayed at this hotel as a last minute deal and all i can say is it was fantastic. Arrived late at night to a very warm welcome and as it was so late just went to bed. In the morning I asked the lady at recepion if i could change rooms as id like a lower floor one and nothing was too much trouble for her. Four of us stayed for 10 days half board in September.We found the rooms were very good with a nice balconey (we faced the road but not to noisy) The beds were made and towels changed etc. but the shower washbasin and floor was not quite as clean as could be.Breakfast is the usual Turkish i.e. boiled eggs. cheese, salad,sometimes sausages and the usual bread and jam etc.The evening meal I would avoid we ended up going out.virtually no choice of main meal (fish chicken or stewed steak) Pool area very nice plenty of loungers at this time of... more

I have just returned from the Alkan Hotel in Marmaris and felt the need to review it (I feel that people tend to review more when there's something bad about the place that they stayed). Me and my friend (in our twenties) arrived at the apartment after a late flight and 2 hour transfer at 6am, exhausted and fed up. I've literally just got back from the Alkan hotel with my mum and my friend (me and my friend are both 20). So, there were three of us..and we arrived at 7am in the morning with no sleep at all (CHECK YOUR TIMING OF TRAVEL) and they put us into a 2 bed room. Tired and irritated we asked them to move us to a three person room, but instead, they just brought in a pull out bed. This to me, was not on. Hi. Came to Turkey for my 1st wedding anniversay and found this hotel through First Choice. We booked half board from 22/06/2009-06/07/2009. I have stayed in Turkey a few times before but this was my first time in Marmaris.
