Aparthotel El Duque

Stayed at this hotel for 1 week, wish we had stayed for 2, Apartment was immaculate, we were on the 1st floor of block E which although next to a not to frequently used road, overlooked a park with stunning mountain views beyond. So impressive was the view that I now have it as a desk top background!. Both our children felt safe and relaxed enough to go back and forth to the pools and other amenities on thier own. We had our own bedroom with double bed but seperate mattresses, kids slept on L shaped settee in living room which they said was comfy. Only down side was 2 ring electric hob with no kettle, toaster, or grill, made tea/coffee by boiling water in a saucepan which was no problem really. Ricardo the the entertainments chap is very patient and encourages children and adults to take part in Rifle shooting, water polo, Darts, Table tennis, basket ball and pool, but doe's not bully you into it if you just want to chill. You enter Hotel via a small shopping mall which has an underground supermarket which stocks a lot and bakes fresh bread, though the Hyper Dino 200yrds down the road is cheaper and staff very friendly. Would definatly stay here again. Really classy area of Adeje Hotel full of Germans and Scandanavians which is always a good indication, no cockroaches or litter 15mins to beach down hill, 20 mins to main restaraunt areas, 4.80 euros in a taxi

Would reccomend this hotel to families. Breakfast worth getting up for, lunch was adequate, evening meal was excellent- every night we had a choice of 5/6 meats!! The staff are very good here, only 1 bar at nite but hardly ever queued longer than a minute or 2, even at last orders for AI !!! Pool and area is excellent, plenty of room even though we were at height of the season. Rooms are the best ive stayed in for AI.

Lovely resort, very handy for shopping ( a lot of shops on at front and underneath the complex).

Bad points- No air con and entertainment average. DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF!

In all we had a great time at el duque and would go back.

We found the apartment at el duque to be spacious,and very clean. The whole complex was superb.Staff were very helpful and friendly. The walk to the beech take about 15 minutes the downside to this is it is all down hill, meaning it is all uphill coming back and very tiring to walk back.

Only saw 3 cockroaches 2 of them on the morning we left.

If you are looking for a good entertaining evening in a british pub then try The Bay View situated in fanabe on the seafront which has great entertainment both for adults & kids seven nights a week.

Would definately recommend staying at these apartments.

I found El Duque a good value for money deal for my family vacations. We stayed there a forthnight and despite our fears for the risks we were taking for so long a stay, I must say that it was a very convenient resort for our two short age kids.

Staff was really helpful, our kids were occupied with activities throughout the day, and we even had time for some sport and reading.

We might go back to Tenerife next year, and will repeat El Duque. I highly recommend it for families with young kids and need for rest.

We went there with two kids and hardly saw them during the day, as they kept them busy with activities. Weather and food were excellent , rooms big enough and we had a rest, so everyone was happy.

It is actually located within a shopping mall with very nice shops.

Only thing is that there is quite a walk to the beach, but children wouldn´t want to go as they were having so much fun at the apartments.

A good value for money, specially for families with limited budget!

I would definitively recommend it.

My wife and I, along with our two year old son stayed at the El Duque Aparthotel in the last two weeks of Nov 07, and had a great time.

The hotel is open plan, with several three storey blocks on the complex. We were in Block A, top floor, which afforded views of the smaller (Heated) pool, and looked towards the sea, catching the afternoon sun. Make sure you get a South facing apartment, as we noticed that many balconies were in the shade in the afternoon.

The complex has two pools, one absolutely huge pool, with a kiddies paddle pool, and the smaller heated pool. We swam in both pools, and the larger was defiantly a bit chilly, but fine if you kept moving.

The apartment we stayed in was of a good size, with an absolutely huge balcony, and was cleaned every day except Sunday. Have to commend the hotel on the level of cleanliness.

The kitchen wasn’t particularly well kitted out, but then we didn’t use it much, so it was fine.

One small gripe…. Twin matresses on a double base in the bedroom wasn’t great, but they were comfortable.

We were on a B&B package, and never tried the evening meals, but breakfast was OK, as long as you can do without your cooked English breakfast. The eggs, (fried/scrambled/omelette) were consistently bad, and the rashes of fat, with streaks of bacon weren’t much better either. The continental breakfast was very good however, offering a wide selection of cold meats, salads, croissants, breads, yoghurts, cereals etc. Breakfast is all buffet service, but was never busy and we never had to queue, and was served from 7-10am.

The hotel had evening entertainment on 6 nights a week, ranging from local bands to a Snake show. We saw a magic show, comical in itself, and a snake show. Must have had too much to drink that night as we ended up with a 15kg Python draped around our necks. All good fun.

The hotel itself is located behind a shopping centre. You have to walk through the centre to get to the hotel. May sound a bit strange, but it’s fine. There’s a Supermarket in the centre (check the sell by dates!!), and a few restaurants, along with a large kiddies play club, that attracts toddlers to 16 yr olds, with soft play, ball pits, video games and mini golf. It’s got a bar as well, so you can have a nice cold beer while you watch you kid/s play.

It’s about a 10 minute walk to the beach, and there are two to choose from. We used the Fanabe beach most of the time, as it is very big, clean, fairly calm sea, and not crowded.

We did the usual trip to Loro Parque, which is about 1 ½ hrs by coach to Puerto de la Cruz, and as always, the animal shows were excellent, and it’s a good day out.

We also went to the Jungle Park, which was really good. The bird show was fantastic, with eagles, buzzards, and owls swooping so low they touch you as the fly past you. They also have an adventure trail and a downhill toboggan, which would be great for young children.

The Monkey Park is an absolute must! It’s in the middle of nowhere, and cost about 15 euro to get there by taxi. We would never have found it if we had hired a car. It’s really basic, but you can up close to the monkeys and feed them, including the chimps. They have a big walk thro section where the monkeys roam free, and will hop on your shoulder and let you feed them. They are very well fed monkeys! If you do go, don’t forget to take some dried fruit with you.

All in all a good holiday, in a nice resort and a nice hotel.

we arrived in the middle of the night and once we walk through the strange entrance through the middle of a shopping centre ( found out later alot of hotels in tenerife have entrances like these ) we where very pleased with our chosen hotel and were given a warm welcome and even when we got to our rooms the reception made sure we were ok. When we woke up in morning to our surpise we had the most fantastic view from our room overlooking one of the mountains in tenerife. The rooms where very spacious and it was idea having a separate bedroom to the living area. The room was spotless when we arrived and cleaned daily, We went half board even though the food was good it did gets abit samey after two weeks. The pool was idea for adults and children, shallow pool for small ones. but do be prepare to get up early if you want a sunbed, mind you the hotel advises you to take the towels off if they haven't been used for a 1/2 hour. The hotel is not that closes to the beach approx twenty minute walk down hill then of course it all up hill on the way back ,but tenerife is know for it hills. Come out of the hotel and turn right the turn right again walk down the hill and past the spa (very nice) and you get to one of the best beaches in tenerife and the Avanti cocktail bar is very up market with comfy wicker sofas and oil burns very romantic (only problem we had the kids with us) also you can pop in to the grand hotel which is next door to el duque and enjoy there bar area which is much better than el duques. but in all a very enjoyable holiday

we have spent a fortnight at this aparthotel for easter. It looked like we were entering a shopping complex when we first arrived but we had a very pleasant surprise. The location was very good in an excellent area of Playa Fanabe. We booked half board and the food was very good as were the choice of food. The restuarant staff were very friendly. The apartment was huge and comfortable. The pool was large and there was a good sized baby pool. Another pool was heated at the other end of the complex.

The entertainment was excellent as was the entertainment organiser.

All in all a great location, place, food and would go there again.

The El Duque Aparthotel was absolutely beautiful. The apartment blocks were clean, smart and simple with everything you could need for your stay- minus a kettle though! So tea lovers need to take their own!

With a choice of 2 great pools and pool bar you never need to leave the complex unless you wanted to explore the beautiful El Duque beach and prominade. The food is very reasonably priced in Costa Adeje and you're spoilt choice with the great selection of restaurants.

The only drawback of the holiday was that it was very difficult to get a sunbed in the complex, unless you were willing to get up very early to ensure you had your share of the sun!

Overall our stay was brilliant and we would definately recommend these apartments to everyone.

It is a very nice hotel, located close to the beach and in a very nice part of that side of the island. Everything was clean, breakfast was very good and my overall experience was really positive. The only negative thing was no parking in the hotel at all, although it was clearly stated on the hotel's website that there was a parking belonging to the hotel and that it was also included in the price.

I was really surprised when I found out about this on check in. It seems that they give wrong information on their website.
