Sep 2007, Mr S B

I have been the Green Golf Resort 7 times in 4 years and have loved it each time. I have gone at many different times of year (May 2007 being the latest). It was very clean and very luxurious. The staff were friendly and the food was nice.
The area around the pool was lovely. Plenty of sun beds and plenty of sun. The pool side bar was really relaxing as was the indoor area around the reception. The kids had great fun swimming, playing pool and playing table tennis.
The Resort was a 15 minute walk away from the centre of Playa De Las Americas and an extra 5 minutes to the beaches and Los Cristianos. And if you didn't want to walk the taxis were very cheap. The Resort also provided a FREE shuttle bus to the centre.
There were so many things to do I can't even remember them all! There were so many nice restaurants in the area and some great shops. I would recommend The Green Golf to ANYBODY.
I intend to bring my number of visits there well into double-figures!

Just back from 2 weeks at the Green...

Just back from 2 weeks at the Green Golf resort hotel, PDLA, Tenerife and had a lovely holiday!
Hotel- first impressions were that it was a bit out of the way but after going into the resort and seeing the other hotels literally on top of each other, I was glad of the Green Golfs location. Yes it is a good half hour walk to the beach, resort centre etc but if you want to taxi it, they are relatively cheap at between 5 & 7 Euros.
I am a single parent and went with 2 daughters, 11, and 13 and I felt very safe using the taxis. There are several female drivers too if that makes you feel safer... The road back to the hotel is frequented after 9.30pm by 'ladies of the night' but only 2 or 3 and they weren’t bothered by us and we weren’t bothered by them, it’s a fact of life that these ladies exist and it actually resulted in some interesting chats with my daughters.
During the day the hotel provide a bus service to the resort which was great after shopping trips!!
The hotel is quiet by contrast to lots I have been too; the entertainment is minimal and not of a great standard but it didn’t matter for us. If you want full on entertainment morning till night, this hotel is not for you.
The place was spotlessly clean with beautiful gardens. The pool area also very clean indeed. We did go and reserve sunbeds at about 8ish each day but if you came to the pool late in the afternoon there were always beds available. There is a lifeguard which is reassuring.
The apartment was fine - everything you need from a tea towel to a coffee machine! It was cleaned daily but sheets and towels less frequently. No aircon but if you kept the shutters closed during the day, it was cool enough to sleep at night. My only grumble was the folding bed which we had to get out each night; it was uncomfortable but wouldn’t stop me going back there.
The bar is slightly more pricey than in town but you would expect that. Food good - we tended to lunch there and eat in the resort at night. The card system with no cash works well - just keep tabs on your spending - reception will give you a statement whenever you want. Reception was great - English speaking and very helpful.
Nothing was too much trouble. I had heard that they were unfriendly staff on other review sites but frankly the way some of the brits act I am not surprised! Some English people staying there were darn right rude and it was embarrassing.
The supermarket at the hotel is pricey but again - what do you expect if brits insist on eating Heinz and Kellogg’s when on holiday!
The hotel for me only looses points on the beds and the lack of aircon.
The resorts - PDLA is mostly a dump I thought. We ventured only once or twice at night. Shopping was good though and lots of designer stuff and surf wear at cheaper prices than home. By contrast, Los Cristianos was lovely. So many great places to eat from 6e Chinese buffets which outshone any I have been to at home - to expensive fish restaurants - literally something to suit all - McDonalds too!
Playa de la Vista beach was great, plenty of sunbeds and not at all packed even in August. Near the hotel at the bottom of the hill are some very friendly places - The Whiskey jar has lovely staff and very nice food. The Chinese next door to it has a great meal deal of 4 courses for 10e each and a free bottle of wine- again lovely staff.
The aqua park is an expensive day so be warned - they charge for everything! Worth it for the fantastic dolphin show though - a better show than Loro Parc. Personally I thought Loro Parc was over rated but the children loved it.
Book your trips though Direct Excursions (they give out leaflets at the airport). I saved 70e on my loro parc trip and 50e on a boat trip compared to booking with first choice that rip you off terribly!!! I did organise the medieval night through first choice however as the rep agreed to take my 13yr old as a child rather than an adult.
All in all a great holiday and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

Stayed at the Green Golf, the last...

Sep 2007, Miss K Dolling

Stayed at the Green Golf, the last week of August. Absolutely loved it, apartments were extremely well presented and clean. The grounds were kept really well also. The food at green golf was limited but fair. They operate a no cash policy using your room card to pay for your goods, I found this worked well.
The beach was a good 30 min walk but we used the free bus a few times. We did see the prostitutes on our way home from a few evenings out by the beach, but we caught taxis which were between 5-7 euros rather than walk our family past them. 10 of us went - 4 adults and 6 children ranging from 4-17 years old - and all ages enjoyed it. There were always free sun loungers by the pool and it was never overly crowded. We rented a 2 bed apartment which had 2 bathrooms, was really spacious.
I was a little worried after reading reviews but security was never a problem. It is not ideally located for the beach but since we spent 6 days by the pool and there was a free bus it was not a problem. We are going to book again for next year. Definitely worth a visit, the shops in Los Cristianos were fab too.

The apartments at the Green Golf were...

Jul 2007, Mrs B Hopkins

The apartments at the Green Golf were excellent, very spacious and kept clean by the maid service 5 times a week.
The swimming pool was good although there was an issue with the towels on sunbeds and we adopted an if you can’t beat them attitude.
We were a little unsure about the no cash on site issue but it was very straight forward and by keeping all your receipts it is quite easy to keep a record of your spending.
Staff were very helpful and polite. Unfortunately our apartment had building works opposite so we didn’t need an alarm clock.
The beach and shops are about 15 - 20 minute walk away but we used the courtesy bus to go to the supermarket and bring all the heavy shopping back.
If you decide to walk home at night from Las Americas the dual carriage is a very interest place.
Overall opinion very good and would go back again.

The apartments were really spacious...

Jul 2007, Miss L Wayman

The apartments were really spacious and clean, they had everything we needed (except a corkscrew!).
The maids came regularly and despite hearing things about possessions going missing, we didn’t have anything stolen. However, some the staff were not very helpful or polite and the cashless system was sometimes annoying, it was good because it meant that you didn’t need to carry cash around the resort but I thought it was unnecessary that you had to put 100 euros on minimum then could only top it up with at least 20.
We heard of someone who got an unrealistically large bill at the end of the holiday and the receptionist wouldn’t accept that they didn’t spend that much.
The pool and surrounding area was beautiful, more regular music would have been appreciated.
Me and my friend did have an amazing holiday, we used regular taxis because it was a 20 minute walk to the clubs and bars, but taxis were reasonable prices.

I was extremely pleased with these apartments. They were really spotless and we had the towels changes 5 times a week.
Our apartment was very spacious with an extra en suite bathroom and we had 2 balconies. The staff were very helpful and had excellent English.
However we were a bit disappointed with the entertainment which virtually nonexistent.
It was about 15 mins walk down to the centre and a 5 euro taxi ride back up again. We would definitely go back to these again.

I have read so many negative reports...

Jun 2007, Mr Ben Aldridge

I have read so many negative reports about the Green Golf Resort, but I don’t know what they were all complaining about.
Hotel was very clean and just a delight to be in, the plants were very fashionable around the complex.
Lunch time menu was a good selection of food but on a night time I didn’t think there was as much to choose from. Jorge and Salla the bar staff were very pleasant and made the stay very enjoyable also provided brilliant service. Staffs in all areas were happy and cheerful.
There was a range of evening entertainment such as Snake Show (I had my picture took with one), Parrot Show, Singers, Tommy and his violin also a lot more.
If you are all inclusive like me all you have to do if ordering food or drink is give your room number then sign a ticket easy as that.
Windows and patio doors all have safety shutters. If you are by the golf course there is a fence to stop anyone climbing over. I felt very safe in and around the resort.
You can get a taxi from the hotel because otherwise there is a distance between the town and the hotel; the taxis cost around 6 Euros to the plaza.
Otherwise you could get a free bus from the hotel in designated times and they take you to the plaza then drop you back off at green golf later on.
Everyone brags about Los Cristianos but I preferred Las Americas because there is a lot more selection of shops also you are a short walk from the beach which was pleasant.
We had a really good holiday. Overall the holiday was top class.

Enjoyed one week in the Green Golf...
9 / 10
Apr 2007, E Belfast

Enjoyed one week in the Green Golf last year and would highly recommend it to others!
The apartments are lovely and of a high standard and are all based on either the ground or first floor.
The resort wasn’t overcrowded and the pool was very relaxing. The apartments are very spacious we had something like thirteen seats for two people, however we had a little visit from a field mouse from the golf course but he left a few days later!!
The golf course is nearby and is great for those who love golf! Staff at the golf course where helpful and friendly, although the staff at the hotel were a little less friendly, although the cleaning service was excellent.
The evening we checked out we had to shower in the shower room downstairs which was ok, although there was no lock on the door!.
Would definitely visit this accommodation again, although would definitely book a late checkout time from our room.

I have read so many negative reports...
10 / 10
Apr 2007, Mrs M Gray

I have read so many negative reports about the green golf that I was beginning to wonder if we had made the right choice... how wrong could I have been.
Complex fantastically clean and well maintained, unlike some I’m not going complain about the odd cockroach, you get them everywhere you go!
Happy hour at the bar 5pm/6pm, buy 1 get 1 free.
Lunch time bar menu very reasonable and a good selection. Staff very pleasant.
rooms...really nice, lovely furniture, everything you need in kitchen if you are 1 of those people that wants to pay stupid prices in the supermarkets and cook.
Why bother when you can get half a chicken, salad, jacket potatoes and chips for 3 euro in los Cristianos!

If you are self catering, you just give your room number and sign a receipt if you are buying anything then get the statement at the end of the holiday...easy peasy.
Safety, windows and patio doors all have safety shutters. If you are overlooking the golf course there is a very high fence!! I slept with the window open and didn’t feel unsafe at all. More robbers at home than there.fact.
Out and about...don’t let anyone tell you Green Golf is a 10min walk to las Americas or Cristianos. It isn’t. Its 20mins to las Americas and 30 to Cristianos, but a very pleasant walk, passing all the shops and restaurants.
If you get a taxi (which stand just down the road from hotel it’s around 6 euro to both) or get the free bus from outside the hotel during the day.
Los Cristianos was my fave, loads of eating places at reasonable prices, but seems to be more entertainment bars in las Americas. Try the Dubliner for great Irish live music by none other than Toby from the x factor, he was amazing.
The full Monty around the corner for karaoke and compares. The railway tavern for quizzes. Wigan pier for a funny as drag queen called Chrystal star.
I had a fantastic holiday and am booking Green Golf for next Easter.

Feb 2007, Mrs S A Williams

This holiday was one of the best we have had as a family. The apartment was clean and spacious and fans were available upon request.
Found the security ok, although did have a couple of wanderers in round the pool area, but this was promptly sorted by management when brought to their attention.
The food was good and the staff were excellent (although the staff round the pool was a little bit rough), I suppose though she was only doing her job but should have been a little more polite to guests whilst doing so.
Overall an excellent family holiday, the children loved it and my husband loved the golf course and have booked again for 2008.

Hi just back from 10 wonderful days...

Jan 2007, Mrs A Haddock

Hi just back from 10 wonderful days at the Green Golf Resort.
The apartment was fantastic, very well presented with beautiful furniture well equipped kitchen, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster oven and grill kettle e.t.c.
The complex was beautiful spotlessly clean and very well maintained; the staff were very helpful and spoke very good English.

There is no cash used on the complex you pay a minimum of 100 Euro at reception and if you spend in the shop or bar you give in your room number and the money is deducted from your account, you can check your balance with reception at any time.
The apartments are cleaned 5 times a week towels and bedding changed each time.
I cannot fault this complex and would not hesitate to book again, there is a 15 minute walk to bars and restaurants, its ok walking down the footpath but stick to the main road on the way back, as it isn't very clean.
I would recommend this complex to families or couples of any age group.

Best holiday I have had so far ....
9 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr M Shaw

Best holiday I have had so far .
Accommodation was nigh on perfect. Very nice furniture, and decently equipped kitchen. Oven, toaster, kettle, microwave and percolator and large fridge/freezer, with hatch into lounge with breakfast bar.
Plenty of wardrobe space too, bed was quit comfortable, and very large. With pullouts hidden in furniture for kids.
A well sized ,secure balcony space overlooking the golf course to chill and eat your meals. If you want to cook.
Bathroom with shower and all facilities, be careful of slippy tiled floors though.
No cash or keys needed on site though, we paid cash into account [100 euro min] and then just spent till gone or top up as needed as you go along, decently stocked mini mart, or site food was ok, not tops but very nice all the same, service was fine too.
Staff were always polite and bent over backwards to help you I thought, no complaints there, always rung for taxis to come to doors, and to arrange trips for us as well.
All other areas were cleaned on a daily basis and were always in top condition, they had a gardener in the day keeping things nice and a security guard in the evening to.
The place was very quiet, so ideal for families ,but there were a lot of single gender groups there and it wasn’t rowdy at all.
The resort was very good, plenty of choices of local restaurants, with all good food, even if they did bug you a little to eat at theirs and not the next one, also lots of people selling hooky watches and sunglasses. Best thing is to say no and blank them. Loads of deals can be had on drinks at veronicas areas, just keep asking for happy hour, no matter what time it is, but not really suitable for young kids
All in all a ,very ,very good holiday, and I would recommend first choice and this resort without hesitation, I am definitely going again in the future.
