We did not know a lot about Tenerife or Playa De Las Americas.
After booking the holiday, people said it was noisy and full of young people partying. We found this to be far from the truth.
We saw no evidence of the 'club culture' at all.
Eating out is inexpensive, especially during the day when you can find some very good offers on set meals, (alcoholic drinks such as beer are also much cheaper). The Canaries potatoes are a must to try.
Las Americas itself does have a somewhat run down feel to it in places, but we found that efforts are being made to rectify this. A short walk to Los Christianos shows what can be done, very clean and well looked after in most parts, but it does tend to be a little more expensive. Lots of activities and places to go in the area and the island in general.
Car hire is quite cheap, but locally advertised prices look good, but do not include the cost of insurance and sometimes they charge for mileage, check with your hotel, as they often have an arrangement with a local car hire firm at very good all inclusive rates.
Hotel Bonanza is very well kept and clean, but for a 3 star hotel, the accommodation was a bit basic. The front desk staff at Bonanza were excellent, very friendly and helpful, and spoke English as well as you or I, (along with a variety of other languages).
This was a self catering apartment with a cooker that comprised of 2 gas rings and nothing else. If you like a cup of tea or coffee, take a travel jug, as a kettle is not supplied and has to be hired as an extra, (as with quite a few things).
Very nice pool, but cold and did not receive a great deal of sun. Situated in a relatively quiet area, (despite the islands main motorway being a short distance away). The bus services are excellent, with the bus station being only a 7/8 minute walk from the hotel. There was also a very good supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away. The nearest beach, which was very good, was only 7/8 minutes walk from the hotel.
If you do nothing else on a visit to Tenerife, go on one of the full day dolphin and whale trips, expensive, but worth every penny, a trip up to see Mount Tiede and its National Park is also highly recommended.
The Las Americas and Los Christianos areas of Tenerife, are excellent places for a holiday, beaches are reasonable, and most have life guards, we will definitely be going there again.

Good location, shops & restaurants within 10 minute walking distance.
Accommodation is very basic (clean but old fashioned) and would not advise half or full board as the food is not very good.
Pool & sunbathing area is nice, but quite small so can be quite crowded if property is full.
Staff generally were helpful, although reception were quite rude on occasions.
The Bonanza will suit those looking for a basic room who basically just want a bed for a week.

There were 4 of us that stayed at the bonanza and when we first arrived the first impressions wasn’t at all very good! However, after we had chance to look around our room and the rest of the hotel we could see how clean it was and how well looked after it is!
We stayed half board but if you are a fussy eater i wouldn’t if i were you! Out of the 4 of us that went 2 were very fussy so never really had a good meal! However there was a good range from meats, fish and as much salad and ice-cream you could eat!
The hotel it-self needs to sort out where certain age groups stay! Because the night life is only a 5 min walk away and a lot of young people stayed there, including us! And because the night life doesn’t get started until 12 we would stay in our hotel with our music on getting ready and when we are doing that families around us are going to bed, so in a way we kind of felt that we couldn’t start our night off how we would of liked to, because the manager said that he would put 4 17year old girls out on the street if we ever put our music on again! So what i am saying is if you want to go on holiday to have fun and to enjoy yourself don’t stay at the Bonanza!!

Our first impressions were not good, staying in room 621 the room had a lingering smell, looked very tired dull and dark, however the room was very clean and the beds very comfortable.
Location was good, close to the shops, beaches and nightlife, and the local people were very friendly.
In the hotel itself, we had trouble finding the tropical bar, internet photographs viewed before arrival were obviously taken 40 years ago when things were relatively new, and you had to be up early to get a sun bed.
The hotel entertainment was good but unfortunately not well supported by guests.
Lunch time snacks were not more than satisfactory and we found it preferable to walk down to beach front bars to have our lunches each day as it is not too far.
Bonanza was a very poor 3* hotel and we would have rated it more a 2*, but location made up for the lack of facilities, i.e. the tropical bar!
We enjoyed our stay in Tenerife, the island is a good holiday destination and on a low budget the Bonanza apartments are adequate, if you are lucky enough to get one of the refurbished rooms!
