Submitted By: CalderssMy partner an I travelled to this hotel for a much needed break much to our dissapointment.
: Room this must be the worst room ever to be classed as a hotel room, we were met with a ceiling falling in due to flood damaged, in both bathroom and bedroom.
dusty with no clean sheets or towels, we were told we could pay 1 euro a day to have towels changed.
: Food, always cold the restaurant even had a microwave to heat the food up... complete health hazard!! Cats often ran around the restaurant..
: Entertainment great if your French, because they only cater fro French and any one else is invisable. They can speak English but prefer to talj in french.
: Pool always frozen,
Hotel is part residential complex so dogs run around fouling the grounds and barking all night.
Bar snacks if the staff can be bothered to give you snacks then you are lucky, as they often replied no they were too busy.. unless you have a french tongue then dont even ask..
The manager is a rude man and has no skills at all.. he agreed to allow us a late check out then put us out the room at 12noon .. he insisted we delete the photographic proof we had and we refused..
Pls for a stress free and healthy holiday avoid this hotel....

Submitted By: amohareThere was no menus whatsoever for any drinks or food, so we unable to identify what we were drinking or eating. All meals were cold and tasted foul. There were flies all over the lettuce. And there were cats running all about the hotel including in the dining are…which really turned us off our food. Most of the people there were English speaking but are not catered for. Numerous people were sick and had got food poisoning. The resort was a run down deprived part of a residential street, with one hotel with nowhere to go… a lot of places in the area were boarded up and run down. We ended up spending more than we planned, as we had to buy food and eat out a lot, we also left the resort on the bus everyday and booked into another hotel! This does not end up being good value holiday…. You get less than you paid for
Advice: Its horrible

Submitted By: Mr A AnonWe were a group of 4 adults looking for a relaxing week in the sun. We stayed on a Half Board basis.
Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by what we found. We arrived in the early hours and were directed towards a spacious, clean room. We had opted for a 4 share room but were pleased to find their was a communal living area and 2 adjoining bedrooms. There was a balcony with plenty of space and the bathroom was well designed and equipped.
Throughout our week we found the reception desk to be very helpful in their demenour and they always aimed to help where they could.
However that is more or less where the positive experiences ended. The food was well prepared but was specifically designed for a French pallett. The majority of the hotel guests were French and the entertainment and food were aimed at their tastes.
Being a vegetarian, I was left choosing salad dishes every evening as the main dishes all contained meat (such as baby whole octopus, oysters, rabbit and varying forms of unknown seafood). Even some of the rice and vegetable dishes had hidden quantities of meat without any mention above the dish. If you are a meat eater and like to try new meats then maybe the menu will be to your tastes.
Breakfast was ok with cooked breakfasts, cereal, fruit and bread on offer.
For us the evening entertainment was a big disappointment. The entertainment team were mostly French themselves and although they spoke English, they seemed to prefer to speak to the French guests rather than speak their less competent language.
I constantly got the impression that they were only speaking to us reluctantly out of a sense of obligation. Obviously to say that all the entertainment team were such would be incorrect as there were a few more welcoming entertainers but on the whole we felt unwelcomed.
The evening entertainment program began most evening with an hour or two of slow dance French music up until about 10pm when the main attraction would commence. Most evenings we found ourselves unable to last this long. French guests were constantly talking about us and pointing in plain sight. There was a distinct atmosphere of being unwelcome foreigners.
Friday night was Karaoke night and was a long list of unknown French songs. Had there been even one of us that could hold a note we would have attemted to even the balance. The entertainers tried an English song but throughout most of it the other guests talked and laughed amoungst themselves in ignorance and even yawned in protest.
I was glad to find out whilst awaiting our trasfers out of the hotel on the last night, that we were not imagining the atmosphere, as another British couple had had similar poblems and were glad to be leaving.
Outside of the hotel there were a few amenities within a 10 minute walk and we found ourselves wandering out most evenings.
At least 2 of the major roads surrounding the hotel were in the process of being dug up and new pipework laid. The work started at 7.30 most mornings with the inclusion of earthmoving machinery.
The beach was a 20 minute walk but was too rocky to sit on.
The bust stop is a 10 minute walk and it cost us 1.15 euro each for a single to Las Americas.
Once in Las Americas I couldn't help feeling we should have paid the extra and stayed there.
To summarise, I would not recommend this Hotel unless you can speak French and like a very quiet holiday.

JUST HAVING COME BACK FROM THR DON PEDRO, WE FOUND THE HOTEL TO BE OK, DONT GET ME WRONG ITS FAR FROM PERFECT, BUT ITS CLEAN ,THE ROOMS ARE CLEAN BUT VERY BASIC AND HAD CLEAN TOWELS AND CLEANED EVERY DAY. THE FOOD WAS FINE AND STAFF IN THE RESTAURANT ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS POOR AND MAINLY FOR THE FRENCH. THE BAR WAS TERRIBLE, MOST OF THE TIME THERE WAS ONLY ONE MEMBER OF STAFF ON SERVING FOOD [WHICH WAS TERRIBLE AS BAR SNACKS], AND SERVING DRINKS. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY YOU WAIT ALONG TIME FOR YOUR DRINKS. YOU ALSO GET YOUR DRINKS IN SMALL PLASTIC CUPS WITH LOTS OF ICE AND 3/4 FULL, WHILST THE PAYING SELF CATERING GUESTS GET DRINKS IN FULL SIZE GLASSES!. ROUND THE POOL WAS NICE AND CLEAN, AND PLENTY OF SUN LOUNGERS. WE WOULDNT RUSH BACK ALTHOUGH WE ENJOYED OUR STAY.

Submitted By: Mrs C EllertonThe buffet style restaurant was more than adequate catering for all dietary requirements and sold wine by the carafe for a mere 3.2 euros. Las Galletas is a small fishing village about a 10-15 minute walk away and is worth visiting first thing in the morning to watch the fishermen bring in their catch and sell it on the harbourside. Buses to Los Christianos and Las Americas are frequent and inexpensive.
This is a quiet resort, ideal for anyone who wants to take it easy and not be assaulted by time-share/holiday club touts or street sellers which are the scourge of the major resorts on this island. The english guests who arrived on the Gatwick flight for an all-inclusive holiday at this resort, were clearly disappointed from the outset and they should have really checked their package before leaving England.

Submitted By: Ms S BennettWe got in to our room which at first glance looked ok, being that the restaurant didn't open till 7.30pm we went for a walk, we passed about 4 pubs and some shops that were closed but being that it was the evening and Christmas day that was the reason so we thought. We met up with our friends who were there and walked back to go and get some food as the children were hungry. When we entered the dinner hall it looked ok, sat at our table then went for something to eat well that's another story a menu that was horrible, the children didn't eat much at all we were all so tired that we went to our room and hoped that the morning would be better.
Breakfast was a bit better but as time went on it was chips with every meal, salad for lunch and evening meal, the meat was horrible and they really didn’t think about children putting rabbit on the menu, scrambled egg which was swimming in water and was black, bacon full of fat, tried to get the children to eat cereal but the milk tasted funny. We went the next day a bought some extras so we could have a cup of tea but the hob would not work and there was no kettle.
We had no hot water for a week went and complained sent the maintenance man round who didn't speak English but managed to work out that he said lukewarm water was fine. Our friends in another block were moved due to no hot water, another friend had to have our children round to bath.
The life guard that I believe someone said was there the whole time watching the pool was there 3 days out of our week.
We went to Los Cristianos two nights to get away as all we really wanted to do was come home, that cost us loads of money to get back as the taxi driver didn't know where the hotel was on one night we told him to stop and we would find it ourselves.
No rep what so ever, the pool was supposed to be heated it was really really cold, the weather was good but I really do have to say the rest was awful.
Our friend who also was away with us was woken one morning to have cockroaches crawling over her face and across the bed she had two children with her, one was in a cot. She went and complained and was left a tin of stuff to spray the room herself. How out of order was that.
I would really say to anyone don’t even entertain going there.

Submitted By: Miss N MWe were horrified to find it was directly next to the entertainment hut. Our room was actually an apartment, but with a condemned kitchen. The gas hob didn’t work, there were no utensils and the fridge was actually warm and very dirty. The work surfaces were written on and stained all over.
The cupboards had huge insect infested holes in them and the room itself was very cold. The bathroom was surprisingly nice. Newly tiled with a power shower and comfortable bath. The bedroom was a decent size, with two very uncomfortable beds and sheets that were very dirty.
We waited until midnight for someone to bring us a cot for the baby, which was falling apart and with a terrible pink itchy blanket. After a very uncomfortable first night we were very hungry and looking forward to breakfast. But again we were extremely disappointed.
The food was absolutely terrible. It was definitely to suit the French who made up the largest proportion of the guests. It was very cold and bland, the bacon was actually mostly fat and the eggs were (when boiled) freezing cold and green. The evening meals were not any better. The area itself is very quiet, although our room was noisy due to the entertainment hut on our doorstop and two fights between the entertainment staff in the middle of the night!
There are very few restaurants nearby, the beach is around a 30 minute walk and has no sand or parasols etc!! There are some shops also around a 30 minute walk away but these tend to open late and shut early! We spent every day of our holiday getting buses into Los Christianos and Las Americas and spent a fortune eating out as we refused to eat in the hotel. The bus service was really good, and easy to get on and off with most drivers happy to help with the buggy etc!
The weather was fantastic but I would never return to this hotel, and never to that area of Tenerife. If you go, prepare for the worst as it absolutely dreadful. The only saving grace was the reception staff who did their best to help! They actually were very sympathetic to the pit of a hotel!

Submitted By: Mr P BradyThe rooms were simple, but sufficient and the catering likewise. Food and drink was available from early in the morning through till 11pm at night. The catering leaned more towards satisfying the French who made up the largest part of the hotel’s guests, but I figure if you want English cuisine with PG Tips then Bournemouth is more suitable than a group of islands off the coast of Africa!
Los Silencio had very little to offer. The beach was poor so the local area was more suited to families wanting to stay around the pool all day, or romantic couples.
I disagree with the comment about ball games as several people played with balls in the pool and they even have a volleyball net set up.
The staff at the complex were incredibly helpful to us and my only advice would be to take a kettle, spare towels and don’t expect 4 star on a 2 star holiday!

Submitted By: Mr GF PerrymanWe have just returned from a week at Don Pedro, and found it excellent value for money.
The food was good, and varied – three or four different choices every evening, and many options for breakfast. You could eat as much as you wished. Most of the other guests were French, so the menus probably reflected that rather than catering for English – but bacon & eggs, cereals, toast, fruit juice, tea & coffee were available every day. And if you’re really desperate, there are plenty of English pubs/cafes within easy waling distance… and some excellent German and Chinese ones too.
True, the architecture was 70s cubist – but this can have its own fascination – in UK it would probably be listed! And who goes to Tenerife for the architecture anyway? Yes, the area is a bit run down, and some of the external decoration poor, but the sun shines the same wherever you stay, and there are some wonderful views of Mt Teide and the coast within a hundred yards. There was very little traffic noise, just the odd aircraft rarely passing directly over. The fact that ‘nothing happens after 10.00pm’ is for some of us a bonus!
The rooms were also part 70s and part recent upgrading. The 70s bits were very well-made and in good condition, and the upgrading to a very high standard. Because they used to be self-catering, the rooms are large, and include extras like a full size fridge, work area and a proper sink and a decent balcony. They were scrupulously clean, and maids cleaned the room and made the beds every day. No, sheets were not changed as often as we would have expected in a 4*hotel, but this is only 2*,and the costs are pro rata. And how often do we change our towels at home?
The pool is excellent – a full 25 meter oblong, with a FULL-TIME LIFEGUARD!! Lots of free sun beds and a large terrace.
No, there is no TV or radio, but we took a small radio which was quite enough. We also took a traveling kettle so we could brew up whenever we wanted to.
The entertainment was nightly, but that’s not what we went for. What we saw was very good. In the daytime, we could have played table tennis, pool, darts, rifle shooting, pistol shooting, boules, aquagym, keep fit, scrabble, etc. etc. No one need ever be bored! But it was also possible to ignore these activities and just chill in the warm sun!
The staff were always friendly and helpful. The only complaint we heard from anyone was a Frenchman who objected to having to pay for water at the evening meal. Overall, excellent value for money.

For a cheap, quiet holiday you could do a lot worse than this (we certainly have on other occasions). The food tended to be a bit "samey" but there was always something you could eat and occasionally it was actually very good. If you want your full English Breakfast there are cafes along the "strip" which are very cheap, run by a variety of nationalities - try Scooters - a lovely Scots couple who are very friendly and work their fingers to the bone, despite charging rock bottom prices.
We had a really good week and although we ate out a couple of times this was our choice and not because the hotel was awful. Probably not a great deal of choice for children, better for couples. There was a real mixture of age groups and nationalities, but plenty of Brits for those of you who can't be bothered to make the effort to improve international relations.
Well done Don Pedro.
Advice: Try it, you might like it! We did.
