Now, please don't let my negative title sway you, I have to say the hotel was ok, a bit basic but clean and in general the staff were polite and helpful. My issue lies with the food, hence the title of "Poor First Experience of All Inclusive". As the the title states this... more

thieves thieves tramps and thieves
me and my family got back from the tamaimo tropcal last night and we are so glad to be home. our first day there was lovely we were all realy pleased with our choice of holidaythe weather was realy good hotel was nice not as clean as we expected but we wasn't going to let that get us down. The food was also quiet nice. Day two thats when something not nice happend my brother in-laws room was broken into and my11 year old nephews new mobile phone had been stolen but at that time we thought that it had just been misslaid.Day three we had a lovely walk round the shops and spent the afternoon around the pool we all went back to our rooms for an afternoon nap while my husbands parents were sleeping someone entered there room with a key went into there suit case by picking the lock and stole there mobile phone a camcorder and a digital camera and left the door open in there room we thought that we had forgotten to lock the door so we didn't realise anything was missing until the next day we went and reported the theft to the hotel manager and all he said was what do you want me to do? so our fun holiday was a disaster. My advice would be DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!
Money was stolen!!!!!
I was very surprised when i read these reviews! I spent 2 weeks with my friends in Tamaimo in january. On the second week, we were cycling about 3 hours. We were stupid and left our money and mobiles in the hotel room. they weren't in a safety box, because we read before our trip that safety box were robbed very often in Tamaimo. So, when we came back to the hotel, cleaning lady had stolen our money!!! She wasn't interested of mobiles or any other stuff, only cash! I am pretty sure, that cleaning lady had stolen the money (luckily only 100€ ), because she had cleaned only one bedroom before we came. And when she came back she didn't clean floors and left rubbish in our room. Later that day we met that cleaning lady on the street, and talked with her. She denied everything, but she looked terrified, so we hope she won't do the same thing again. Just one more thing. In the hotel we talked with other finnish people, and they had also very awful experiences. In the first night, that they spend in the hotel, in the middle of the night someone came in their room when they were sleeping, and stole most of their clothes, watch and almost all their luggage. Someone had a key in their room!!! I never go back to that hotel!
Brilliant, some downers...
+ all inclusive is amazing and well worth it, wide range of delicious food, and people just remember you are in a foreign country so dont winge if there arent any baked beans and turkey twizzlers. hey, try experiencing a different culture! really get your moneys worth during the day when all drinks & ice creams etc are free, and in the evening when the free booze flows! + apartments and complex beautifully maintained and decorated, staff very helpful and speak several languages. - dont bother with a safety deposit box, they have the master key and the robbing security guards or cleaners who have keys to all the rooms. as we found when our cameras, phones and wallets (which were hidden around the flat) got stolen one night from our locked room. they left all cards and passports. we were the 6th people that week to get robbed. hide the stuff really well or take it out with you. that was the only downer. if you like the bars etc the Karaoke Tropical is brilliant, more of a club... Oh, and to the person who complained of spanish people being drunk and noisy, i think you'll find it's actually their country, they're allowed! - The entertainment in the evenings is rubbish! tone deaf spanish singers murdering the classics. the Parrot Show however is brilliant. In all, a truly brilliant holiday marred only by the theft. ****
not as bad as i'd read on reviews
After reading the reviews on this site before we left we were terrified we had made a huge mistake! I hate cockroaches!!!! We didn't see one all week, apart from the one in my husbands jacket potato at the Aberdeen Steakhouse up the street. There was no apology from the waiter...just a new potato....so he said! That was the only problem with food in the resort though, as everywhere else was fabulous...couldn't find fault with any local restaurants (and there's usually no pleasing my hubby) The apartment itself was basic, but adequate. The only fault with it was the maids didn't clean it as often as stated in the brochure and I had to keep requesting clean towels. Pool was great for the kids and complex had a really nice feel. The weather was in the 80's and the locals were really friendly...and more importantly child friendly. Its an ideal base for a self catering holiday and would recommend it as long as you don't have hugely high expectations....oh ....and the excursion to Loro Parque...Hotel didn't tell us it took 3 hours to get there as the coach does a full circuit of the island to pick-up...and Tamaimo is 1st.(and last to get dropped off)
Excursions are pricey from reps
Returned from Tenerife 1st Marcg. Spent 1st week at Tamaimo Self Cat.room 133. to the left of reception below pavement level.Very quiet, bit of building works. No problems. 2nd day someones securuity box was robbed, we had used a padlock on our cases. Problem lies with the cleaners I believe they tend to leave up to 4 rooms open at any time ,first to empty rubbish in all and then do other things. They washed our floors once( only because we were still in!). Hotel meal £10 is only useful on first night when you are desperate. "EL Varadero 11" is a particularly good restauarant, used it 4 times, gets full very quickly after 6.30 pm. Oscar the waiter keeps everyone amused especially the children. It is opposire Barcelo Santiago Hotel. A big mistake we made was going to Welcome meeting before looking at local shops and our reception. Reps charge on average 12 euros extra for every excursion. Hotel excursion notice is very very small and easily missed. The Dolphin Safari on Nostramo out from San Juan isn expensive 43 euros with a free bus laid on by the ship. Trip to Mount Teidi laid on by the Hotel is very good value and no tedious pick ups.Too much smoking in Hotel. Reps coach to Lora Parque took two and a half hours owing to pick ups and back again,2ndweek spent cruising on Carousel. Will go back to Hotel again. 20c all week.
Don't go there!
We luckily only had to spend one night in this dreadful place. On arrival having booked a 2 bedded apartment we found to our surprise and with no explanation from the staff that we had been given a one bedded one, complete with a stained mattress and a dirty sheet on a sofa bed in the living area. To top it all we had a friendly cockroach too! Next day they offered us a 2 bedroomed aprtment opposite a building site with a lovely sound of pneumatic drills!! They then offered us half board but the food was absolutely disgusting. The hotel was also noisy and overcrowded. Luckily our rep moved us out next day to a LOVELY hotel nearby. If you want my advice cancel the holiday and book another hotel quickly!!
Catastrophic Start!
Week 21 to 28 January 2005. Firstly a disastrous start. Wife slipped in the bath/shower and broke her shoulder in 3 places within 4 hours of arrival! Meant hospital 2 days medication, taxis to and from hospital etc. First Choice representative of no help in connection with the circumstances following the above accident. Aparthotel accomodation was good and spacious with nice balcony. Two large pools with sun loungers, gardens etc. Snacks available at pool bar but at limited times and service on the slow side. Evening entertainment of good standard but service at the bar can be slow. Reception helpful and friendly. Room kept tidy and clean. Good restaurants partcularly San Diego opposite Barcelo Hotel. Recommend chicken it was superb. Unable to comment on the wider resort facilities due to wive's incapacity.
Beware, the robbers are there...and they have room and safe keys!!!!!!!!
We saved all year for this christmas holiday, we arrived on 24th December 2004, on arrival the rep advised us to get a safety deposit box, due to a room being robbed on the previous night. We paid 46 euros for the safe and placed all our valuables and money in it. Upon return to the safe a few days later we got a shock, all our money had gone (over £800) but our bank cards and our mobiles were still there, exactly as we had left them neat and tidy, as was the room, the thiefs had taken cash and Marks and Spencer vouchers, which we got for xmas. We went to reception and spoke to the rep, who did not help at all, we complained to the manager who said all he could do for us was move us to another room, they did, but not untill two days later, we had to spend two days in a room where someone had a key to, they never did change the locks while we was in Tenerife. The police came but they said they could not do anything because the room had not been broken into and entered, all they did was tell us to report it at the police station which took up the whole day. Someone had entered the room with a key and the safe with a key!!!!!!!!! . We spent all our Xmas and NewYear doing barely nothing because we had barely any money, only the cash we had with us from day one. The rep had told us that this had never happened before, yet he was the rep who had advised us on day one that a room had been robbed the previous night. After we had been moved to another part of the hotel we heard a lady shout "somebodys just snatched my bag". This happened after our safe was robbed, but while we was still in the hotel, it happened outside the room we were robbed in. When we spoke to reception about this they denied it had happened. We feel really let down, nobody helped us and we did tell them we had no more money, we can't believe they put someone in the room without changing the locks. If this had happened before, you can see why, if the locks are never changed. At the end of our holiday, we went by the room and found the locks had not been changed and someone else was in it. Beware of this hotel, and if too late beware of the safe, and anything the staff or reps say!!!!!!!!!!
FAB TIME
Hi have just been to the tamaimo for 1 week jan 2005 with my 17 + 13 year olds had a great time complex was beautiful well maintained, staff very helpful + friendly in fact just rebooked to go back in May for 2 weeks and we can't wait xxx
A nice relaxing holiday
Just returned from the Tamaimo Tropical in which myself and my mum stayed for a week. Initially we were put in one of the most dingiest, noisy rooms in the whole complex (138, I think) but we asked to be moved and were moved after two nights to a much nicer room higher up. Although it overlooked the street, the only noise we heard were coaches delivering and picking up new people. I think this hotel is lovely at this time of year when there are not too many people in the hotel but would expect that it could be too crowded when fully booked. There is still building work going on opposite the entrance to the reception, but the noise from this was minimal as they were mainly working on the inside of the building. The restaurants around the hotel were reasonably priced. One to treat yourself in would definitely be The Beeches restaurant (but you do need to book). This is slightly more expensive than the surrounding restaurants but worth every penny with fantastic food. The other restaurants were okay but not very much choice for vegetarians, although I think you would find this throughout most of Tenerife. All in all, a very good holiday and would definitely go again out of high season.
