" fantastic holiday "

couldnt fault the hotel this was our first family holiday abroad.we went as a family of 2 adults 2 children in early october and the weather was fantastic every day, it started off cloudy but turned hot really quicky be warned you can still burn in the cloud.the food was lovely different variety every day and the snacks were nice, ice cream in the restaurant was free which kept the kids entertained. there was a lively pool which had games for the adults and children and played music for most of the day and the other pool was a bit more quite if you wanted to relax.on a night time you have the disco bar where entertainers keep the kids happy and then bingo for the adults, then adult entertainment till 12 after 12 the drinks have to be paid for.siam park and loro park is a must see they were both brilliant and the kids loved them.the only thing that we couldnt get used to were the black sand beaches but we couldnt fault the holiday one bit just a shame we had to come home

Advice: nice and quiet area, shops a short walk away not suitable if you have difficultly walking

Activities: lovely irish bar in playa la arena a short walk from the hotel

" no complaints "

Booked Tamaimo as last minute break, self-catering for one week. Apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped with air-conditioning, microwave, fridge etc, Hotel staff helpful & friendly. The problem with lack of airbeds did not bother us as we did not intend to lie by the pool all day. Good supermarket across the road.
Found good non-British restaurants in the area (I don@t go abroad for British breakfasts!)
Regular bus service to other beaches
Visiting Mt Tiede and the cable car is a must!
Only complaint was the Thomas Cook rep was less than professional /efficient in sorting out a problem with the bus pick up for the airport.
Tragic news about the rock fall on 1st Nov which killed two women on the beach in Los Gigantes.

Advice: fantastic views. Take care in the sea, strong waves and undercurrent.

Activities: dolphin & whale spotting boat trip, Car hire to Mt Tiede & Masca - amazing hairpin bends & views

" Total disaster "

My wife and i booked for 1 week, I read the reviews and decided the only way to find out how true they were was to try for ourself. I would not go again if it was offered free. As for getting a sun lounger its a no go, they unlock around 9am and within seconds they have all been put down with a towel on them and left, some nearly all day before the people returned, even though it has signs all around the pool saying no reserving. I videoed this 3 times in the week to show people and they cannot believe how the hotel could let it go on. We were fortunate with the cockroaches we didnt get any in room all week, although we had 2 dead ones in wardrobes, we saw on 3 occassions cockroaches in dining room, one was actually running down the servery, put me off my food, the food is also repetitive, chicken pork veal and fish, every day you knew what to expect. The dining room was only available by one entrance and you had to walk all the way around the hotel to get a snack and had to eat in dining room could not take outside. There was a door at the poolside which gave entrance but was a fire door for the dining room but they put on a hasp and staple with a padlock to stop people using. Maybe we have different laws about locking fire doors. You need to travel if you wish to see shops etc as it only has a couple there which are no use to anyone. All in all i would not recommend to anyone but see for yourself like i did, look forward to read your review.

" Absolutely Fantastic, Couldn't Recommend More Highly! "

Me & my boyfriend (both early 20s) stayed for 7 nights all inclusive at the end of september and paid £395 per person for this break, and frankly I'd pay double that if I had to, to go back! The hotel is spotlessly clean, our room was cleaned every day apart from 1, when the cleaners even left a note telling us they wouldn't be cleaning the next day. If you need extra towels or bedding you only need to ask at reception. All of the staff speak very good English and are friendly and helpful, will let you know which bus you need or help you get a taxi etc. The rooms have a kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Ours didn't have air-con which I wasn't too bothered about but if going in Summer season I would definately request an apartment with air con.
As for the food, it was delicious, I've never had such great food from a hotel. So much choice. Breakfast - different cereals (including sugar puffs), sausages, bacon, scrambled and boiled eggs, beans, chips, tomatoes, loads of different fruits, cooked meats, toast and varieties of bread and pastries.
For the main meals there was always 2 meats, a different type of rice, pasta and potato every day and obviously chips along with at least 2 kinds of veg and any kind of salad you can imagine. And vegetarian options available too. Sooo many puddings to choose from and fruit aswell if you want to be good.
You can order a picnic basket for lunch to take out, and there are snacks available all day including hot dogs and burgers after lunch so you could eat non stop if you wanted to! Pots of ice cream included aswell, however no food can be taken out of the restaurant which keeps the pool area nice and clean.
There are main brand soft drinks available including Coca Cola, Fanta and Sprite. None of the alcohol is watered down at all and the bar staff are brilliant, all spirits and shots are included aswell as beer and wine.
The entertainment team were fantastic as were our Thomas Cook rep. The kids club was brillaint and always planning something throughout the day and doing "booms disco" at night and handing out awards for kids and parents. Cash prize Bingo was on most nights and some professional acts so didn't need to go out of the hotel at all. If you did want to go out theres plenty of bars & restaurants just around the corner from the hotel about 2 minutes walk including a mexican, italian and chinese and an english bar which plays all the sports on tv! Theres also a couple of supermarkets if you want to buy some snacks for the room or souvenirs. There were plenty of sunbeds, and you don't need to get up early to grab one and no-one can put towels on overnight as they are locked up. The pools were lovely and you had a choice of the pool with music and entertainment around (including diving lessons) or the quieter pool.
Puerto Santiago is beautiful, with plenty of stunning scenery including a natural swimming pool and black sand beaches, and a few shops however it is hilly so not good if you have walking difficultys. Theres a great bus service which is very cheap and takes you all around the island including playa de las americas and costa adeje. Taxis are reasonable too. I'd highly recommend the water park Siam Park we had an awesome day there something for everyone including a very scary wave pool.

Advice: peaceful and beautiful but very hilly.

Activities: Siam Park was a great day out.

" fantastic holiday "

we have just returned from a week at the tamaimo tropical and it was a fantastic holiday ! the food was lovely massive choice and something different every day, none of the drinks were watered down at all. all the staff in the tamaimo were lovely, friendly and very helpful. our room was cleaned every other day with fresh bedding and fresh towels. all the rubish about the towels getting put on beds at 4am is absolute rubbish !!!! the beds were locked up all night and didnt get unlocked until 9 am evry morning after the area around the pool and the beds were cleaned. there are two big pools to choose from. we will definatly be returning to the tamaimo tropical. i had read all the reviews before i went but wanted to make my own mind up.

Advice: beautiful place the beach is only small but los gigantes beach is only 3 euros up the road in a taxi

Activities: the chinease resturant around the corner from the hotel is lovely, also a british bar close by

" Get what you pay for! "

Have just returned from the Tamaimo Tropical. We too were a little concerned having read some of the reviews online. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We were a party of 8 and having searched endlessly for an affordable holiday came across the Tamaimo. Its 2 star and cheaper than everything else out there. Maids clean the room every day; pool was cleaned every day; we never ate the same thing twice and there was plenty on offer; never had to queue for food; 3 young kids were well catered for both in terms of food and entertainment (well done Em and Abbie!); fresh food brought out regularly; staff cheerful (other than lifeguard!). No - there was no food served after 9.30 at night; there were some omissions from what was advertised in the brochure but all inclusive resorts always reserve the right to change what is on offer and this rider is clearly stated in the brochure. Reps didn't intrude and were helpful when needed. Biggest problem was lack of sunbeds - with 2 large pools there are not enough to go around and my wife was one of many residents up early every morning to get one: not everyone was always successful. We certainly got what we paid for and enjoyed a very relaxing break and more than satisified with what we got. Kids made loads of friends, we enjoyed oursleves (including my hard to please mother in law!!)- holidays are what you make them!

Advice: quiet resort

" WHAT A DISASTER! "

What a disaster this holiday was! We booked through Thomas Cook and have gone all inclusive with my two kids and sister for 20 years and this has probably been the worst! We were greeted into our unclean room to two cockroaches which after 10 mins of catching them had to leave them on the floor with a glass on top for the maid to pick up next morning. My kids don't get up till around 10:30 and we thought there would be no problem in them getting food as there was "snacks" between 11- 1pm however we went in and found left over breakfast, went to see rep and she said it was "extended breakfast" but it was stone cold. Had to get up at 7am every morning to get sunbeds and umberellas and there were teenagers up till 3am every morning jumping in and out of swimming pools as there was no security. Entertainment at night was supposed to be professional shows- only one proffessional spanish dancing. Absolutely crap entertainment and the so called "kids club" was a load of kids playing manhunt and running round the hotel screaming ! Only 2 people on the entertainment team all week and didn't have a clue how to entertain. We went out everynight around to the bars and restaurants and ended up spending a fortune as the entertainment was so bad. Couldn't get chairs and tables to sit on at night so we decided to go out. Went to "Courtyard" Pub and it was the olny good thing about the holiday, the live acts were FANTASTIC!!! If you have already book to go to Tamaimo Tropical make sure you go to the Courtyard. Pools were unclean grid coming out the bottom of one, was supposed to be a pizzeria, bbq and a la carte restaurant as advertised but were no open all week. Food was the same most days and my daughter who was vegetarian had to eat pot noodels all week bought from the supermarket. Things were labelled as vegetarian and she ended up eating pasta with meat in! Found a dead fly in my lettuce one day, went to see rep and she said she was "off duty" and had no interest in anyones concerns all week. Bar and restaurant staff were rude, asked for milk for cereal and had 10 mins of staff saying there was none- after i waited for so long outside the kitchen they finally brought some. Was lay on the sunbed one day asleep and a cleaner came and rammed the trolley into the back of my sunbed hitting my head and kicking the sunbed until i woke up. Got up and received a load of spanish abusive off her- didn't even do anything wrong! Gardner one day put the sprinkers on a load of sunbed with towels on, towels soaked wet through all day. Around 200 people per day lay on the grass as there was not enough sunbeds for everyone. It was clear that the hotel could not cope with this amount of people as they had completly filled the large hotel and could not cater for that many people. We were told that the hotel would not be all inclusive after this season and that thomas cook would not be putting the hotel in their brochure, i think thats says it all. The staff had clearly given up and the rep just could not be bothered. A games room, keep fit, aqua aerobics, snacks by poolside, bbq, pizzeria, a la carte restaurant, volleyball, afternoon tea and cakes and proffesional shows and acts were advertised but did not receive any of these. Ended up eating pizza most nights from pizza takeaway, sitting in pubs and bars and had mexican tea one night which was very nice. Ended up spending around £300 that week on the above and buying food from the supermarket, not the money you expect to pay when going all inclusive. All i can say is if you haven't already booked, DON'T!!!

" Great Resort "

Me and my boyfriend are just back from a weeks holiday at this aparthotel and i honestly can say that it is a great resort. Its very family orintated which gives it a lovely vibe however, its a place which i would recommend for couples too. The area itself is quiet and a bit out of the way from the madness of young clubbers however, if like us you would like to visit the main tourist attractions of tenerife i.e las americas/los christianos then its only 3.55 euros and its about 45mins journey. The hotel itself was extremely clean, i was very pleasantly surprised, even outside on the balcony it was spotless! The only thing is that half the apartments are air conditioned whilst the other half are not.We were actually expecting to get an air conditioned apartment but when we arrived at our room we realised how we were without. This was an immediate let down but after speaking with the staff at reception they said they could move us in 2 days. I would have liked to have been moved straight away but figured that i was fortunate enough to be moving at all. The two nights we spent in the non air conditioned room were pretty difficult to withstand, the heat at night kept me awake mostly therefore it was a huge relief when we did get moved into an air conditioned room. So my advice is if you are looking to stay here, make sure you get an air conditioned room or be prepared to have a few sleep less nights. The pool was really beautiful and i enjoyed the evening entertainment. If you are going all inclusive then dont worry you will be well fed!We found the food good and of great varity, so if your a picky eatter dont worry, theres chips! and other foods to suit all.The drinks aswell were great, free fanta lemon, coala, fanta orange and sprite all day every day.All in all, its a great resort for a relaxing yet fun holiday with good food, entertainment, clal apartments and sunshine..what more could you want?

Advice: quiet yet a beautiful part of the island

Activities: los gigantes cliffs were amazing

" can't fault it "

If you have read people's reviews saying that it's rubbish you shouldn't believe a word of it. this hotel is the best i have ever been to in Tenerife as i have been here before. The weather is brill and can always catch a tan by the side of the pool or even on the beach, the beaches are lovely but we went on a black beach, i would recommend a dark coloured cozzie as it takes ages to get a stain out if it's bright. the food at the hotel is gorgeous (i should know i'm picky) and sometimes we even went up for seconds as there were 8 of us there were still plenty of activities to keep people occuppied especially for the kids. the entertainment were great so we would recommend you watch it especially eagles had picture taken with them they were beautiful creatures. the rooms were cleaned throughout the whole week and all staff had a smile on their face , rooms came with either a balcony or terrace overlooking the pool which by the way is lovely especially the heated one you could never find me out of it there were a few cockroaches about but what can you say it's there country of origin so you can't blame staff for really having an untidy hotel because that's where they live. the waterpark is amazing the slides are great you would always find me on one of them, it was a great day out. definately worth going back , let's see what the future brings, but overall a great holiday.

Advice: brilliant

" My Holiday "

my teenage daughter and i went for a weeks all inclusive hols at the end of may. i'd read reviews of the hotel so we arrived with a little trepidation. frankly was pleasantly surprised the hotel is not modern but clean, the staff are really nice.the food was ok little bit repetitive after a week, but drinks etc were good. you get what you pay for!
The hotel itself is very family orientated which is good, only problem for me was my daughter made that many friends that i was abandoned and felt like shirley valentine without the romance! during the day relaxed by the pool, and different entertainment every night. The area is absolutely gorgeous, views spectacular. My friends actually came over but staid at the barcelo santiago around the corner, which is a really mordern up to date hotel with really nice food. But they ended up coming to our hotel every day, because frankly the atmosphere was not there. So if your after an affordable down to earth holiday, friendly people etc. then come here we'd definitely go back..If you want modern and strict then i'd choose something like barcelo santiago, and pay more money, but it was very high standard and you didn't feel very welcome as it was too posh and not very homely, basically it wasn't a comfortable environment.
so if basically you enjoy moaning don't go, cos your bound to find something to complain about.Your holiday is what you make it.some people should just stay in britain with there knotted hankies.

Advice: the views of los gigantes are spectacular

Activities: siam water park

" Brilliant Hotel & Resort "

Just returnded from a 12 day allinclusive break.I couldn't fault the Hotel, staff, location or the food. People in these reviews that complained about the poor choice....what do you want? Breakfast - a choice of several cereals, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, tomato's, beans & yes chips, youghurt, both tinned, dried& fresh fruit, cooked meats & cheeses, large selection of breads, croissants etc & thats just breakfast.
I travelled alone & not once did I feel afraid to go out of the Hotel complex day or evening. The walks around Puerto Santiago were wonderful the natural pool & the walk into Los gigantes was lovely, hilly, but lovely.

Advice: Fantastic for walking, relaxation & watching the sunset

" glad we ignored the reviews!! "

When searching for holiday, this hotel kept on popping up and before booking we researched the hotel. There were quite a view horrible reviews about the hotel and then a few good ones so we decided to just take the risk and book it anyways. And I'm so glad we did! We booked through directline holidays and flew with thomas cook and i agree with others about the legroom, it was a joke on the way there!
The journey to the hotel took about an hour but there was only 1 drop off so this was good. The hotel itself is huge and our room was on the ground floor and really accessible, just over the road there was a local supermarket so this was handy for buying bottles of water.
Our room was lovely and clean, we were surprised but pleased to find our own kitchen and the balcony had a lovely view of the pool. Contrary to previous reviews we found sunbeds really easy to acquire and didnt need to get up at the crack of dawn to get them! The food had a great selection and i think there was only one night when for me personally there wasn't anything great, however, other than that one night i thought the food was great. the staff were constantly taking away the trays and replacing them with new food even before they were empty. All of the staff were friendly and polite and all seemed happy with their jobs.
The pool area was lovely with the bar really near, the water was very cold but this didn't put us off! I thought the drinks selection was brilliant for the all inclusive package and there was definitely more choice than i thought there would be.
the evening entertainment we thoroughly enjoyed, bingo almost every night we played and the eagle show and river dancers were great too.
We mainly stayed around the hotel area during our holiday but we did venture to Siam Water Park and it was incredible, the park itself is beautiful and it is easy to get to without having to book through the reps. You can get a bus from just up the steps outside the hotel to las americas and then there is a free siam park bus from las americas. It was 28 euros each but it was well worth it. However, i would recommend waterproof suncream for this day out as you don't realise just how much sun you are getting!!!
The surrounding areas of puerto de santiago were beautiful and the local restaurants and pubs right near the hotel were all really friendly. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and I am pleased we ignored the reviews and even reading recent reviews i definitely disagree with most of the bad points on them.

" Great "

Just spent 1 week all inclusive at Tamaimo Tropical (8-16 May). Couldn't fault the hotel. There are 2 squares, each around a pool. Our 1st room was over the Disco Bar & it was very noisy so they moved us straight away to the other square. Lovely clean room, tame dove on balcony!
Food was plentiful & good variety. Had delicious steaks, lamb chops, lamb casserole, hake & fresh salads. Puddings were good. Breakfast had lovely bacon & scrambled eggs. Drinks were generous & it was nice sitting around the bar in the evening making new friends. We didn't go the nightly entertainment (bingo - house = €137!) but many did.
Pools were warm, Always sunloungers available. Never saw a cockroache!
Location wise - a bit out of way but there is a half hourly bus 473 (up the 140 steps)
Do walk to Los Gigantes (short cut takes 15 mins) as there are many small shops & eateries there. Also book your dolphin spotting trip here as alot cheaper than through tour operator. Had 3 hrs & meal - €25, saw loads of dolphins.
Behind hotel are many eateries. I recommend San Francisco - €7.45 for 2 delicious courses. Do not go to The Steak House!
If you walk down past Netto & turn left along sea wall, around harbour & up the hill, there is a very cheap tobacconist there.
Supermarket Dia opposite has an upstairs!
My only gripe is Thomas Cook airlines, you are packed in like sardines for 4 hours. It is worth paying for extra legroom. Also Laura the rep was ghastly.
