Wonderful location. Los Gigantes is wonderful; there are lots of shops selling designer clothes to touristy gifts. Plenty of bars and a lovely church.
It is worth checking out Oasis the public lido. It is in a lovely location and it is good to lunch there and laze the day away. I was there with three children and they absolutely loved it.
The hotel was clean and the food was good, plenty of choice.
I would definitely go back again.

We stayed at the Tamaimo Tropical in November and were pleasantly surprised. Our room overlooked the main pool and we where allocated a room on the 4th floor. The first night we were kept awake for most of the night by drunken English "tattooed" yobs around the swimming pool. Fortunately they left the following day, good riddance. Security guards patrol the premises 24/7 which was great.
I would recommend to people, depending on what they want to do, but we hired a car for 4 days and travelled throughout the island. Teide is a must! Absolutely brilliant as well as the pyramids at Guimar. The beach at playa was awesome, a mere 15 minutes walk for Tamaimo.
The food I thought was excellent, and there was a good variety, fish, steak and rabbit if you wanted it. We didn’t make use of the snacks really as we were out and about most of the day. Ask for a picnic basket if you intend going out for the day (sandwiches, cheeses, ham etc).
We found the staff to be very pleasant, rooms cleaned everyday, although we did have to ask for clean towels one morning.
Pools were great, if you want peace and quiet use the smaller pool which is situated near the entertainment bar. The other larger pool is quite busy with quite a lot of people compacted together.
One word of warning is the south airport - they will charge you excess weight if you are over. We stood in line to hand in our luggage for about 40mins when we got there we put our suitcases on the scale and with not a word said, off the baggage went into the hold. We were then told that in order for us to get our boarding passes, we had to go "over there" to pay the excess baggage fee of 50 euros and then they would issue us with our boarding passes.
Well, we had other plans, as we were definitely not paying this as they had not given us the option to unpack some of our heavy wet towels etc which we would have gladly got rid of in the nearest dustbin. People on the concourse especially a German airline were so damn rude "sorry, I only speak German", eventually after much deliberation and standing our ground and asking for our baggage to be returned so that we could empty the heavy belongings, they relented and finally issued us with our boarding passes without the excess baggage fee!
Also, be careful of the people who frisk you at the x-ray machine. They asked people to even take there watches off and necklaces, some poor lady on our flight who lives 6 months in Tenerife and 6 months in the uk, had her Rolex watch stolen from under her nose as she put the watch in those plastic trays, it goes through the x-ray machine while she was being body searched and bingo....no watch in the tray - police called in, she missed her flight... an inside job indeed, and never got her Rolex back!
All in all, we had a wonderful time though, and I would recommend Tamiamo to anyone who is in doubt of any bad reports.
Hire a car, its well worthwhile to go and explore the island. It’s beautiful! We would definitely go back!

25th December for 1 week including New Years Eve at the Tamaimo Tropical by mistake we should have stayed at the Dragos Del Sur in Playa Del Arena.
Not very pleasant staff, rooms needed to be updated and certainly the bathroom as the bath had no enamel on it and was rusty, the maids folded the dirty towels up and put them back for re-use they also made and cleaned the rooms as and when they felt like it.
All inclusive does not mean that here, you are only allowed some drinks no ice creams or snacks only if you pay, if you go for New Years Eve you would be expected to pay for drinks after 12.00, there is crazy golf and table tennis etc again you pay.
The restaurant is not big enough for the complex you have to queue and the meals are very much the same pork, chips and chocolate cake fruit juices are watered down also. The area itself is not suitable for children, pushchairs, also anyone who has walking difficulties as it is very hilly and loads of steps to encounter to get out of the resort you have to use taxis.
Overall we made best of the holiday as we had got nowhere else to go as they changed our hotel at the airport it would not have been my 1st choice and I don’t think I would go back has to improve loads before I do a lot of people complained. Hope this helps you.

I walked into our room on arrival and had to walk back out immediately, the stench was unbearable. It smelled like raw sewage. Upon further investigation we discovered that our room didn't have a balcony or terrace either, just a small window overlooking a stairwell. All the blurb in the brochures and on the net says that rooms have a balcony or terrace; not if you're allocated a room on the 5th floor! I went back to reception to complain, mainly about the smell, and was told they were full try again tomorrow and was given a bottle of air freshener. I tried the next day and was told they were still full, try again tomorrow. Finally they had another room available, but it had one tiny bed and it wasn't big enough for two so they offered another room. This one had a balcony, but being on floor one and on the road side meant that we had a view of the wall. However, it didn't smell, so I guess that was a bonus.
The food is decent, a bit repetitive but no different from the other times we've stayed all inclusive. The Christmas Day Gala Dinner was a total farce. We queued for 20 minutes to get into the dining room and when we got to the front we were asked for our tickets. What tickets, we asked. It transpired that even though we were all inclusive we needed a ticket for dinner. We had to walk all the way back to reception and queue for a ticket and then join the queue for the dining room again. We queued for another 40 minutes before we finally got seated. Great things were expected after all this fuss; however, the only difference was that there was some beef and turkey at the side of the buffet. Big wow!
Snacks were available in between the main meals and it said that you could take them away. When I tried to take some burgers out to the pool area after watching people doing it every day, I was grabbed by the arm by a waiter and told that this was not allowed and we had to pay for snacks. I told him that we were all inclusive and he just went on about how some people paid for their rooms; again I pointed to my all inclusive wristband and he said "No, you must pay", I wasn't going to pay for them so I gave him the burgers back, he refused them and told me to "go away". Needless to say, I was very confused and quite angry.
I wouldn't stay here again, but other people we met there had very positive experiences.

My partner and I have just returned from a 7 night break at the Tamaino Tropical after enjoying an excellent holiday, and we have to say that we have very few complaints!
The food is great, plenty of choice and the chefs try to be imaginative (some of the desserts were just fantastic! Others not so but 10 points for effort!). It annoys me that some reviews state the food as boring - it's a buffet - not a la carte! We really enjoyed the food and it was the healthiest we'd eaten in years. Plenty of salad, soup and vegetables. Being all inclusive saved a lot of time - we were in and out of the dining hall within half an hour, leaving more time to sunbathe or explore the island. It is definitely worthwhile and value for money. The service is good and the staff are friendly.
The location is great if you're looking for a quiet break. There is a short walk to the promenade which overlooks the sea out to La Gomera, with excellent sunsets. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the area, and it is a nice 10-15 minute walk to Los Giganties beach.
The pool is cold, or refreshing should I say! It would benefit from a bit of heating. People do reserve loungers which was slightly annoying, but there are still plenty to go on. Maybe at busier times of year it could be a problem.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I booked this with my bf for us and the kids as it looked like what we wanted on the quite side. It was great we had a good holiday, we were upgraded which was a real bonus, so we didn’t have to worry about food and drink at all.
The area and hotel were quite no loud rowdy people, the food there is OK, there was a five or six hot meals 2 choose from and a few cold ones 2 every mealtime but they were pretty much the same day in day out - we went for 2 weeks.
There aren't many shops close to the hotel plenty of restaurants, for more gift shopping you need to go up the stairs, which there are quite a lot of so not for the faint hearted, but you can take your time and maybe watch the lizards if you want. The shopping centre isn't very big but it's not bad.
There is a place called Scooby’s - they are very friendly do English grub even crumpets and cream teas, the kids loved it there especially their chocolate milkshakes.
There is a mini super market next to the centre, walk all the way thru it to the end and go out the exit on the right, at bottom of steps turn left, and its a few yards along. They have a good selection and sell 8ltr bottles of water cheaper than the 5ltr bottles Netto’s or Delfin sell which are closest to hotel.
All in all we had a very pleasant time at the hotel the staff spoke good English the rep was very helpful the maids were in everyday except Sunday’s the lifeguards were there every day only 10am-6pm though the hotel was very clean we only saw 3 cockroaches and 2 of them were when we weren't at the hotel.
The entertainment was a bit butlins I’d say 5/10 score wise for that but then you do have the bars nearby with their entertainment.
We would definitely do there again!

Well I have so much to say about Tamaimo Tropical! The place was HUGE and very, very clean! Maids were in EVERY day to change the beds, towels, sweep through and even wash up my cups and glasses!
The service was outstanding and I would recommend this place to anyone. Although, there isn't really that much to do in Puerto Santiago, Los Gigantes is only a five - ten minute walk (and it's a very pleasant walk!) - and has a lot of bars, restaurants etc to offer.
I went basically to relax during the day and go out on the pop during the evening, this was no problem!
I'm 22 and went to meet some friends out there with their parents too - and there was something to do for everyone.
If you are thinking of going away - book this place! It's very cheap and outstanding value for money. So much so I am going back there in two weeks time! :-)

The hotel, rooms and pool were very clean and tidy. Around the pool areas there was a lifeguard on duty everyday and there was an abundance of sun beds, however, if you want a good spot for sunbathing I would highly recommend 'saving' your bed with a towel by about 8am in the morning as at the weekends the hotel has a lot of Spanish visitors who come in their droves, they will use up the whole of the sunbathing area.
The staff were very polite and helpful.
The reason I only gave this hotel 5 out of 10 is due to the following:-
Very small beds approx 3 x 6 ft
No air con in the rooms
Most of the rooms back onto a main road, which can get very noisy.
This is a family hotel, so obviously they encourage children. If you want quiet don’t go there.
The food was ok; very basic.
The evening entertainment was a bit 'Butlins'

Just returned from Tenerife on the 5th Oct. At 1st we went self catering but ended of going AI it’s a really good hotel. When we 1st went I thought omg as I read all the reviews about the cockroaches, there were a few but they were ok to live with as we just chased them out.
The pool was very clean and around the pool area was clean.
The restaurant was nice but after the first week it seemed to be the same things for dinner and tea time, and that ran all week, so if you like eating the same thing every day (like chicken, fish and veal) you're happy and chips for breakfast, dinner and supper!
The entertainment was not that good but we made it ourselves and ended up meeting up with a few families (one from forfar, montrose and Wales and we made a great hol.
The aqua park excursions is a must to visit my 6yr old loved it. Los Gigantes is a lovely place to visit and the natural pool is amazing.
Oh yes you need to be really fit for this holiday, as its full of hills but other than that it was a very good hotel. There is also internet and the reception and bar staff are brill.
Also the kid’s entertainers Alfonso, Rony, and Andrea - my son thought they were brill.
7hrs flight from Aberdeen a bit much for young kids.

All I can say is what a holiday. The hotel was 100% in fact everything was 100%.
There was 7 of us we had the time of our lives!
The pool bar was a bit slow on service but there was only 1 person serving so we understood that one.
Hotel had over 12 security walking around everywhere on grounds 24/7. Rooms was spot on.
All I can say is I want to live there in Tenerife! I didn’t want to come home They treat us like we were one of them!

You get what you pay for:
Firstly, my partner and I got a last minute deal and paid £300 for a fortnight (each) on a self catering basis. All we were wanting was a fortnight away in the sun somewhere quiet and as long as the apartments were clean and not heaving with cockroaches’ we'd have been happy. We both thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, went from the 17th Aug - 31st Aug so only got back 2 days ago. Wouldn't hesitate in going back if we wanted another cheap break away from the norm.
Personally, I think you deserve all you get if you decide to go for all inclusive as these types of packages are notorious for attracting a certain type of individual and it undoubtedly will end in tears with unlimited amount of the local liquor, and reheated food - let's be honest! What do you expect? This is something we both witnessed during our holiday as when we got in each night after dinner, it was clear the folk who were all inclusive as they were all well gone at the bar and making plenty of noise, which is fine if you are in to that kind of thing albeit it never bothered us.
Food and Cost
We ate out every night and never paid over 35 Euros the whole time we were there (this included a 2 course meal, including fillet steak, beer and wine). I'd particularly recommend Valadero II run by lovely Chinese folk and their fillet steak Diane is to die for. Fillet Steak meal will set you back 7 quid and it's cooked to perfection! As we were self catering we ate out for lunch and dinner - I'd recommend the Outside Inn for lunch food, it's a British Bar and as much as I'd say the ladies serving you aren't exactly the friendliest in the world, the food is really good, cheap and local to the Hotel. Baked Potatoes, Burgers, toasties, fry-ups etc.
Hotel
Very clean, excellent reception staff - perfect English. We had a broken slot on our couch and the patio door latch wasn't shutting properly - fixed the next day! The pools are lovely and are cleaned every day. One thing I would agree with is that there aren't enough beds but if you are up early enough (around 9) you'll get a lounger but the umbrellas are like gold dust! Again, I'd agree with their being a lot of Spanish at the hotel at the weekend but hey, what do you expect - you're in Tenerife! I found out that a lot of the Spanish come to the hotel from Thursday to Sunday so there can be a shortage of beds.
Pubs
We are in our early 30's and were looking for a relaxing holiday not the club scene. Route 66 is a great pub and yes, Old Dogs New Tricks are a great band. Although, as much as I loved them and the pub, watch out as it's waiter service, a lovely guy called Wan, you settle your bill by the end of the night which is when you get a shock as they charge you an extra 2 Euros per round which doesn't seem a lot but over their 3 hour gig we spent an extra £15 than that if we went to the pub next door. Soft drinks are no cheaper - A beer and wine will set you back 6 Euros, however a beer and a diet coke will set you back 5.50 Euros so you're better having the wine!
Shops
Same shops everywhere selling the same stuff but no surprises there, so no disappointments for us as you half expect it when you go to places like Tenerife, Gran Canaria etc.
Overall
If you are looking to be spoiled and have a fortnight in lavish surroundings then why go to a 2-3 * hotel? If you are looking for a cheap quiet break in a lovely picturesque resort then it's for you.
Supermarket
Don't go to the local one in between the pubs (turn right when out of the hotel), the prices are bordering on extortion! The best one is at the top of the 118 steps, much better choice and far cheaper. Although, if you are not fit enough to try the steps, a new Netto one opened up the Friday we left (Opposite Nino's) they're supposed to be a little more expensive but better for the folk that can't face the steps and climb to the other supermarket.

Never trust a travel agent. We run a very busy restaurant and after a very busy xmas and new year we asked the travel agent to find us a quiet relaxing holiday.
They booked us one week in the Tamaimo tropical on a all inclusive deal and also booked our extra leg room seats on the plane, they also advised us not to get the transfer to our resort as it would be cheaper and faster to get a taxi from the airport. We paid hays £1,300 for 2 adults and our grandson who is 9 years old.
On boarding the plane we were told that our grandson could not sit with us as he was too young. Why take the money off us the airline must of known at the time of booking the seats.
We arrived at Tenerife after a 4hour 50 minute flight, collected our cases, and proceeded to the taxi rank only to be met with the biggest queue I have ever seen. It took us 40 minutes to get a taxi then 40 minutes in the taxi to get to the hotel. It cost 60 Euros I don’t call that cheaper than the transfer. The reception is very slow only one person to deal with check in. We waited half a hour to be checked in.
The hotel its self is huge it took us 15 minutes to get to our room up a lot of stairs and corridors. The room was very basic no view, the beds were very small and hard and the one in the front room was broken. The full week we had to sleep with the grandson in one of the beds with us.
There are two pools but if you are not up by 7 30 in the morning to reserve your sunbed you won’t get one. I took pictures one morning at 8 o clock of every sunbed being reserved with towels, shirts, and books etc but no one actually sat or laid on them. Some of the sunbeds were not used till the afternoon.
The greed in the hotel is something to be seen. People pile their plates up time after time wasting a great deal of the food. They then wrap food up in napkins and take it to their room. People just drink alcohol all day and night even the kids. The noise is unbearable all day and night, kids shouting and running up and down stairs and corridors. The resort consists of about 4 bars,4 restaurants, and 4 supermarkets.
The beach, what beach never found one. Took a photo of a rocky inlet which some people said was the beach. Walking round everywhere is steps or very steep hills you need to be super fit to stay here.
We found ourselves getting the bus every day to las Americas. This place is a big no no. Lot more I could say all bad I am afraid to say.
