Fantastic week

Just returned from a week here. Had a wonderful time all inclusive loads of good food and drink. Dinner and lunch is almost the same so well worth asking for a picnic the night before as the picnic was wonderful with lots of bread ham chesse cakes and fruit.
The place was clean the staff very helpful.
The sofa bed was not the best in the world but we changed the mattresses about with the two in the bedroom as the children were so little they couldn't feel the diffrence.
The room was cleaned daily.
Weekends Friday to Sunday are quite busy but the rest of the week is nice and quiet.
The childrens entertainment is wonderful all day their was lots going on for the children. A nice touch was that after most activities the reps take the children to the bar to make sure they get enough to drink.
Have a fantastic holiday here and don't worry about negative reviews you will have a wonderfull time.

dont expect a sun bed

Nice large room, food o.k. kept it well stocked up. now for the bad, dont expect a sun bed when you arrive,we were there for 1 week in July and had a sunbed twice, towels on beds all week, regardless if they were being used, someone actually saw a man taking a umbrella to his room. Manager seemed to of lost controll of situation, as the beds were not stacked up at night they were not hosed down and the pool area was dirty, with food and plastic glasses. The manager seemed to have no controll if he cant sort the problem out who can. It was a shame but it spoilt our holiday a bit, also a barman named I think called Danele, was a right misery, not a smile on his face, and more or less had the drink thrown at you, did not acknowledge you at all, I would not go back to this hotel, be warned.

We arrived back last night after 11 days and the weather was absolutely faultless 29+ every day and not a drop of rain. We were all inclusive and the food was really monotonous to say the least - OK if you like pork or white fish!!! We ate out quite a few time, but as all the drinks were free it made up for then food in costs for us. The entertainment didn't start until 10 - 10.30 pm so a bit too late for children and we had a few problems with the room but were sorted out fairly quickly. The hotel staff were all helpful and friendly, there were still signs up about virus - and my daughter was very sick for 24 hours the second day after we arrived, but we bought sterillising and cleaning things at the shop and contained it to just her.No problems with cockroaches just a few ants in the room. The pools loungers were being reserved by 8am in the mornings and this is a shame as some had towels on them from 8am but not actually being used until 3pm in the afternoon. This was British people - and they were just spoiling it for others.
Would think again about being there at Easter - on the 1st April about 200+ Spanish arrived for their holidays and took over the hotel. This is quite the norm at this time of year as the hotel was busy preparing for them arriving a few days before. Until then it was quiet by midnight but the Spanish took over the pools, restaurants and were still partying at 3am!! Glad we were coming home as it really was unbearable.
Trips were great, excellent meal and cocktails at The Bamboo Bar in Los Gigantes and the English sports bar in Puerto Satiango had lovely Pie + Chips when you needed a change!!! at 4.50 euros good value too!!!

me and my sister went here for two weeks all inclusive the hotel is clean and tidy and has three large pools and two small children pools, good holiday spent most time by the pool with music as very few beaches around, also went siam park which is a good hour or so bus ride but its worth it! the food is not so good breakfast was good with toast cereal fruit yoghurts fry up etc but lunch and dinner was near enough the same every night bread salad chips rice sum kind of meat most food did not taste of much, we stuck the food for a week and then strted eating out in the evening there are a few nice restaurants around. would still recommend all inclusive as the breakfast was good and the drinks, could get soft drinks juices beer vodka malibu you name it and they had something close. it was worth the money as buying drinks would of cost alot more. this is a place for older people or families as there is not much night life in the area the hotel disco bar was a bar open 8.30 till 12.30 where bingo was held every night and music played; sometimes a few entertainment shows such as snake or parrot show. other than that a few good pubs and bars around but no clubs. no complaints about the hotel really food could be better but was edable, area bit too quiet but overall nice place had a good holiday.

The notice by the pool should have rung the alarm bells. 2 days in the holiday and one of us was struck with the "runs". That took 3 days to get over. The microwave was filthy and no glass plate was there, so soothing cups of tea were difficult to make and the food on offer was not so appealing when one felt completely drained because of illness.
The last day of the holiday, the other one of us got the bug, but managed to be well enough to fly home, only to spend the next day vomiting.
We needed a holiday to get over that experience, and have found out since then that many people had become ill with the same bug.
Los Gigantes was at the end of the drop-off route and not close to any interesting places, so a lot of time was wasted in getting there and back - not an ideal location, and not much help or information available from either the locals, or tour reps.

We read the reviews and contacted the rep concerned by the "bugs" across hotel, resort and island. He proved to be very responsive and competent so we took the risk. We found everything really good and suggest to those that are critical to go 5 star elsewhere as we got more than our moneys worth. Yes the brits ignore the signs and book the loungers, moan about the food and have an attitude toward those hoilday makers they feel may not be entitled to a foreign trip! Despite this staff were courtious and swift to respond to any moan or groan (whether justified or otherwise!) YES some folk did get ill but could it be a different climate, excess food/alcohol or one of those things which could happen anywhere? Our 4 year old made some great friends and loved every minute - BACK TO WORK MONDAY :-(

This was a last minute holiday for my boyfriend and I on the 13th of Jan-21st of Jan 2010, great price at £333 from N.Ireland, all inclusive!
This is located quite a distance from the airport which made us nervous as we travelled up the windy mountains but once we arrived we were very pleasently suprised. The room was very spacious and clean, with a great view of the pools from our balcony. It was never overly noisey, at most there was about 5 mins of noise as the bar closed at 9, however this was shortlived.
The food was fantastic, there was always a great selection thoughout the day, even for vegetarians (I was vegetarian for 7 years prior to this year). The was an extensive drinks list to suit all tastes and tea/coffee is also available throughout the day. I would highly recomend you book all inclusive as it works out cheaper, 5drinks through the day would cover the cost of a days all inclusive. Also, if you wish to go out for the day the staff will arrange a picnic to take with you so you don't have to pay out for food when your away from the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and you can attend welcome meetings even if you have not booked through a certain holiday company, this provides you with information on the area and excurtions. We went to Lora Park which is fantastic for all ages, sit near the front and you might even get chosen to participate in a show! It's also worth a bus trip to Los Christianos for the sunday market, however it works out cheaper to travel on a local bus rather than booking through your rep.
Everyone mentions cockroaches, we had 2 within our weeks stay but this was due to the window being left open, these can easily be targeted with a good insect repellant spray which the hotel provides so no need to worry about that, and this is coming from a cockroach phobe!
There are four pools within this hotel, 1 heated and 2 children's pools. There is also a jacuzzi which you have to pay for. The hotel also has tennis courts, pool/tennis tables and mini golf options.
I would seriously recommend this hotel for families and couples of all ages!

We stayed here for 2 weeks february 2008 & had a great time. We got a great deal so our overall opinion is probably coloured by this. However the location was great (not perhaps if you have difficulty walking as the area is quite hilly), the hotel room clean and well equipped and ammenities V good. Ignore all the bad reviews unless you are expecting 5 star accommodation -if so you will be disappointed. Its certainly 3 star and in a great location. Im going back in January 2010 and hoping its exactly the same. The only downside is that the pool wasnt heated and too cold for swimming in Jan/feb. However I see from various web sites that supposedly there is a heated pool somewhere, so am looking forward to discovering that this time round.

We stayed at the Tamaimo Tropical for the New Year period. Although our apartment was clean and spacious thats the only good thing I can say about it. Glad we were self catering as most of the all inclusive guests were eating out at the same place we were, obviously their food was not good. The pools, apart from 1, were freezing and the main pool was closed for maintenance whilst we were there.
Entertainment was absolute crap. Nothing going on for children during the day or evening apart from Mega Connect 4 whoopee !! One day they had Scuba diving which was run by external people and my son took part, I have to say it was brilliant and he would have done it 5 times over. Drinks served in plastic cups, queuing for ages for a drink. No snacks available during the day.
The areas around these apartments was very good but the nearest beach was closed due to high winds.
DONT EAT AT LOCAL CHINESE as my son was severely ill after eating there. My partner had bad diahorrea which we discovered was very common throughout these apartments, and had been for a while.
Go to Route 66 lovely people, the best bar.
Our advise DONT GO THERE
They really need a good makeover .....

We booked this holiday lastminute through Thomas Cook via Direct line
Hotel was nice and clean, rooms well equipped. On arrival we didnt like the room that was allocated to us, just from a location point off view.Reception changed our room with no fuss at all, Reception staff very helpful and friendly as were all the stasff we met in the hotel.
the food was basic homecooked food hot and plentiful, somehthing for everyone. Drinks goood to.
The area is very pretty but not for people with walking difficulties, we took the locla bus instead of hiring a car they, cost about 6euroes each.
all in all we had a lovely time and had fantastic weather even the locals commented on the good ewather for the time of year
ignore other reviews and enjoy

A Lovely Time Had By All

Hi I hope you find my review helpful. Myself & my hubby stayed here with 5 other adults & 2 kids (7 & 8). As a lot of people do before you go away you have a quick look at the reviews & I just thought to myself that it's all paid for now I'm going with family & we'll have a great time. That is exactly how this holiday turned out !! It was fab. Other reviewers are spot-on with regards to the rooms needing updating they absolutely do & are very tired, BUT comfortable let's be realistic here you don't spend all day in your room do you !! We were in room 274 with the bedroom facing the road & honestly it was fine. The road really isn't that busy at all & the balcony we had overlooked the quite pool which was lovely. I saw some reviews saying how many hundreds of cockroaches they had in their rooms & around the hotel I had 5 small ones in the bathroom & we saw 2 in the evening around the pool area, but come on guys we have spiders, daddy long-legs,wasps,bees,flies etc etc over here that's just nature !!! Reception Staff extremely helpful. On our first day we went round to the pool where more or less everyone hangs out & found that there was just too much noise, no sunbeds, cramped too, so we decided to go round to the Quite Pool & that is where we loved being the most for the rest of the holiday, it was exactly that QUITE. My Nephew & Niece had the pool to themselves mostly as near enough everyone else was around the other pool. If you like BOOM BOOM music then stay at the main pool, if you prefer to read your book, have a swim & just ABSOLUTELY CHILL OUT then stay around the Quite Pool. We could still get sunbeds at past 10 o'clock NO PROBLEM. Ok the pool was cold, but as you swam about it was fine & refreshing at it was so hot !!!! Over 90 degrees most days PURE BLISS. Also when you look in the pool it looks dirty, but it is only because the paint has come off & does need re-painting that's all. Around the pool was fine & clean. You can get 4 drinks at a time from the bar & some of the staff are really nice & cheerful only a small few of the others are a bit miserable (I don't know why as it's us tourists that are paying their wages) !!! There was entertainment on most nights which was ok when there wasn't it was BINGO !!!!! & to be honest if there's a good crowd in the club bar you could win over 100 Euro's !! They do play the same music in the club bar all the time as that is all the management will give them, if they had the internet or cd's they could play more variety, but they haven't & it was ok. We all thought the food was really good Cooked breakfast every morning, Bacon,Bolied,Fried,Poached & scrambled Egg, Sausage, Beans,Fresh bread, Cereal, Jam, Honey, Continental breakfast too, Lovely coffee,Fresh fish most nights, Pasta, Vegetables, Veal, Pork, Chips, tons of salad to choose from, lovely cakes for afters. Lots to choose from & as we were only there for a week it wasn't the same every night. JUST A POINT TO REMEMBER :- When you go for breakfast the fizzy drinks are NOT SWITCHED ON, you can only get coffee & the juice from the machine which is NASTY, but the coffee is LUSH !! The toilets at the main restaurant & by the quite pool are clean & work on a timer but there is a switch in the cubicle just in case the light goes off when your you-know-whatting ! There aren't lots of shops to look in near the hotel although the ones that are there are nice & you will get some lovely prezzies. Try out the D I A Supermarket which is facing the hotel, it's excellent & has a vast amount of goodies if you have forgotton something & includes a delicious in-house bakery !! There is a big hill of steps opposite the hotel which I can only imagine would be HELLISH to walk up, we tried the hill to the left of the hotel as it's more of a steep slope as we wanted to see what other shops were there & to be honest I wouldn't bother, coming down the steps was bad enough lots of them & we descended in the dark & there is NO LIGHTING !! Just be careful. We went to the Sunday Market in Los Christianos which was organised through the hotel which was 12 Euro's for Adults & 6 Euro's for Children, but you can get a bus which would have been cheaper, but hey your always wiser after the event. It has lots of stalls which are covered over to protect you from the heat & most of the stalls are the same old same old, but it was nice. When your at the market there is an entrance to the inner arcade shops & usually a woman will give you a flyer for the restaurant upstairs which states an American All-You-Eat Buffet, DON'T BOTHER you can't help yourself which is not a buffet to me & you have to keep an eye on your bill too. To sum the whole week up for us all we had a fab time, the drinks were great, some of the staff were great, the hotel is tired & well used but comfortable & absolutely value for money. We finished our week off by going out for a meal & if you like Mexican food you must try the Mexican just round the back of the hotel IT'S FABULOUS !!!!!!!!! Hope you enjoy your stay & if I can be of anymore help then please don't hesitate to contact me on my email address :- [--]
