Whilst expecting “a simple standard of accommodation”, to our utter dismay the standard of this hotel can only be described as torture.
Thee beds were of poor construction with a slatted base, which had misplaced and missing slats upon which lay a thin DIRTY hair mattress.
The electrics in the hotel were an accident waiting to happen; although my husband who works in the electrical construction industry says “an accident is an unforeseen event” these were “incidents with severe or lethal consequences waiting to happen”.
The shower was in a dangerous state with some kind of pull switch tied to the shower curtain. The switch had been pulled out from the wall exposing wires in the shower area.
The electrical connections to the lights in our boys’ bathroom were exposed and the connections were made by twisting the wires together and covering with a non electrical tape (it looked like medical tape). Medical tape being porous will conduct electricity when wet (not ideal for a bathroom).
The bedside (over head) lights were hanging out of the wall and it looked as though they were only held by the wire. We therefore had to move the beds for the safety of our children.
In the corridor the light switches, which were at the same height as the dado rail were broken and had exposed metal elements. These corridor lights were on a timer, therefore, as you came out of the room in the evening you would run your hand along the dado rail to the switch, hoping to illuminate the corridor not electrify yourself.
The showers were cold, we later found out (from staff we found in the kitchen) that the showers were out as the electrical system had “blown again” and that when someone (the name escapes me now) came in he would change the fuse. This is clearly indicative of a re-occurring problem, which seemed to be matter of fact to the staff!
As for the Half Board, we expected a continental style breakfast with the evening meal having a range of choices from a menu.
What we got was:
Breakfast - Bread and Jam (you could toast the bread in the toasted sandwich machine if you could be bothered to join the queue).
No continental breakfast of croissants, cold meats and cheeses, but we could have bought an English breakfast for 4 Euro’s.
Evening meal – (one evening’s choice)
Starter - Omelette - Bacon /Ham - No other choice
Main - Chicken (no other description than that) or Meat balls (again no other description than that)
Dessert – Melon No other choice
However, we could have spent all day eating chips from the poolside restaurant as many of the residents seemed to be doing! Not exactly why we go abroad.
As for the pool, well you could take a refreshing dip if you could find a place that wasn’t crusted over with dead flies or other bugs. The “Free Sun beds” were free of use as many of them were broken!
The amenities stated in the Olympic Holidays brochure :
Reception – Unmanned, however the car hire desk was constantly manned (presumably to help residents escape!)
Restaurant - See above reference half board.
Pool bar – Reasonable with a friendly barman. Although, your life was in danger if you sat under the fan expecting a refreshing breeze as the light fitting, which had presumably unscrewed itself, was dangling from its damaged cord. As the fan span, the light fitting (quite a heavy looking one) oscillated tempting its cord to give up and fall onto what or whoever was below (better viewing than the football).
TV/Video Lounge - I suppose you mean the wide screen TV showing English football in the bar area.
Money exchange - How can you exchange money when you can’t find the staff unless you want to rent a car.
Safety Deposit Boxes – (at a cost) Yes, these were a large metal cabinet not bolted to anything in the unmanned reception ideal for carrying away.
Telephone facility - The phone in the hotel didn’t work, not surprising as again there were bare wires.
Car Parking - For rental cars!
The hotel was so bad that on our introduction by the rep on the Saturday, we requested a move. This cost us an extra £2.000 which bent the Barclaycard but to get away from that hotel it was worth it.
Make no mistake this place is a very poor back packers hostel but if your idea of a holiday is eating chips at the poolside watching English football then crack on!

I want to start my review with the positive side: Corfu' is a beautiful island, the landscape, the sea, the food in the local tavernas are great and the Greek people made us feel welcome!
Messonghi is a great resort, quiet, clean, near to Moriatika and it's nightlife!
My boyfriend and I took the excursion to Paxos and Antipaxos and we enjoyed the boat trip very much! So we'll definitely go back to Corfu!
But not at Pantheon hotel, not with Olympic holidays, and not flying with XL!
The Pantheon hotel has a good location near the beach but that's all is good about it!
Half board basis meant bread and butter with orange juice for breakfast, and some not very well done English like food for dinner, with very limited choice ( fixed starter, 2 main courses to choose from 1 pudding) If I wanted to eat cottage pie and jelly I would have gone to Blackpool, not to Corfu'!
The worse thing was the lack of cleanliness in the room, the ladies would only empty the bin daily, the towels were supposed to be changed midweek but we only had 2 on 4 changed once in a week because we asked 3 times, the sheet were never changed!
The Olympic representative wasn't helpful and knew very few about the resort!
The flight going in was spot on but coming back we had 9 hours of delay! XL offered us a free dinner in a local restaurant but then forgot to book transportation to go back to the Airport! A nightmare!
So thumbs up for Corfu' down for Pantheon and XL!

I must admit that I wasn't really sure what we were letting ourselves in for when I had read some reviews about this hotel from a couple of years ago. But I am so glad I took more notice of the good ones as I had the best holiday ever and would definitely use the same hotel again next year.
The hotel maids provided an excellent service as they cleaned our floor every day, replaced towels and bedsheets daily. The hotel room was left absolutely spotless by them. The beds themselves at first glance looked very basic, but they were extremely comfortable. The first week we arrived there was actually a heatwave. The only drawback was the fact that there is no air conditioning, but at the price we paid paid for this holiday, it would not put me off coming back. I'd make sure I'd hire out a fan a bit earlier than I did.
As we had booked the Pantheon on a half board basis we found the food to be very adequate. Breakfast consists of Greek bread ( a bit like a crusty loaf) and jam, along with fresh orange juice, tea or coffee. I noticed in other peoples reviews some were not impressed with this, but I personally thought it was actually very nice to get away from the full English Breakfast or Ulster Fry.
The evening meal consisted of a 3 courses, out of the full 2 weeks we only felt the need to eat out once and that was just for a change of scenery. The location of the hotel was excellent, literally a 2 min walk to the beach. The beach itself was a mixture of shingle and sand, once in the water it was all sand. I would recommend the beach shoes which are for sale in all of the local shops to wear as they are brilliant for walking on the shingle (about 6 euro a pair).
The local people we found to be the friendliest anywhere we have been, and all the shops, restaurants treat you very special without being pushy. Finally we would like to mention that our holiday was made very special to us by the friendliness of Billy, Mel and Petra who made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and kept everyone entertained at the hotel bar. Even though they work very long hours, nothing was too much trouble for them and they always had a smile for everyone. Absolutely first class service, I do hope the owner of this hotel realises what a superb job these people are doing, I would say they are one of the main strengths of the hotel (along with the maid service).
All in all, my holiday in the Pantheon Hotel was absolutely brilliant. The resort, the people, the beach, the food, all get ten out of ten and I will definitely be back next year and believe me I am very fussy about cleanliness, good food etc. In case Billy & Mel should see this, I just want to say to them "What about ye mucker?"

Well what can about the Pantheon Hotel? Firstly the weather was good considering we went in the first week of October. It was rather quiet which was lovely hardly any children about not that I don’t like children.
When we first arrived at the hotel they put us in a double bed room when we requested twin beds. I must admit the double room was rather horrid and we got no sleep that night. Luckily in the morning the lovely receptionist rectified the situation and we got a pretty decent room rather basic, but had a lovely view of the Gemini’s hotel pool. Their explanation for putting us in a double bed room as they thought we were Mr. and Mrs. They did not realize we were girls. Yes I can see how you can mistake Miss on documentation for Mr. or Mrs. Hmm. Well they were very apologetic so all was good.
The maid service was excellent and they kept the rooms and en suite bathrooms very clean. We had a problem with our shower as we could not turn the cold water off in fact we were not the only people that had the same problem. The situation was resolved the very next morning.
The food was not that entirely great in fact when it came to mid week you did not even have a choice of menu it was one meal. They said as there was less than ten people staying at the hotel they did not see the point in offering a choice of menu. I thought that was disgusting and not good enough. But there was nothing we can about it unless we want to pay for a meal. So be warned unless you go when it’s busy don’t expect much choice in the food department. Breakfast was not that great, felt like I was in prison with the amount of bread we have eaten. One day wanted to pay for a full English breakfast the chef was not there. That’s all we need, just our luck, typical.
The beach was ok it was crowded most of the time not very sandy so spent most of my time in the pool.
The hotel pool’s ok would not recommend going in. A woman broke the pool ladder and she was really slim. So I went and used the Gemini’s pool opposite the pantheon very quiet and lovely.
The Oasis bar is good Billie is lovely and happy hour is all night so that kept me happy. Cocktails at 2 euros 50.
All in all despite our mishaps we did have a good holiday and the receptionist was truly lovely so I can’t entirely fault the hotel.
This hotel would be ideal for people who are not to fussy what they eat, who don’t mind paying extra costs for food and drink. I personally would not go back to the Pantheon hotel. I would definitely come back to Corfu. But I guess people should give it go.

Fantastic, all the staff, especially, Billy, Mellie, Vasillis and of course not forgetting the restaurant staff and room maids. The service at this hotel is second to none, yes ok the rooms are basic but extremely clean. I can't praise them enough Bev and Chris have certainly got the best staff in their hotel.
The food at the Mythos restaurant is fabulous a very wide range is available, traditional Greek being the best. My daughter is getting married in Mesonghi next year and we will be taking a party of about 20 people with us. So if you are there we look forward to seeing you, you will have the best time. The hotel, the village and all the local people are very welcoming and will look after you. Here’s too many more years to come.
Love to all of you at the Pantheon and keep up the good work. Maria, Tina, Jon, Hayley and not forgetting Ruth, Danielle and Kim. Xxxxx

Little late putting this review up but we returned to the pantheon for the second year running. This time we took our youngest child with us, she loved every minute of it and is now wanting to go back again this year too.
Bev the owner was brilliant again as usual, our daughter Kimberley really took to her and still talks about her to this day. She even tells people that she is going back to see her auntie Bev in Corfu (oh bless) her. Once again the staff where great nothing was too much trouble for any of them, despite new waiters who where just fantastic.
The food this last visit was better than the first visit , but then again we had no problem our last visit. We would really recommend a holiday to the patheon and we look forward to a return visit soon.
P.S If you see Billy before we get back there ask where MONKEY IS, ha ha he will know who you talking about. Love to you all at the Patheon as we know you like to read the reviews Chris. Gillian, Derek and Kimberley.

Spent 11 nights at Pantheon, very basic, and dated rooms, but the service more than made up for this.
Dinner meals were excellent. Breakfast not so hot, toast and jam, unless paid for cooked, which swam in fat, strange given the quality of evening meal. Bars run by Billy were quality, and Vasilli kept the pool in excellent order. Some rooms suffer from noise from the bike hire adjacent to the hotel, but scooter noise is a problem anywhere in Corfu unless you get a room in the mountains, so put up with it.
We were there late in the season, so it was very quiet, recommended for couples looking for a chilled holiday away from the football tops of Kavos.

We stayed for two weeks Half board at the Pantheon Hotel, The accommodation standard is basic but the staff at this hotel and the food are fantastic...
Breakfast was very basic i.e. toast & jam , tea & Coffee..... cooked items can be ordered as can cereals but you pay extra for them.......but to be honest the bread is so fresh and its already so hot in the morning that toast & Jam really does suffice.......besides you can have as much as you like and you can even take your breakfast and eat poolside which is nice ......
The hotel rooms are very basic but also very clean, towels are changed every three days with beds and floors being cleaned daily, even the two cleaners who work in the hotel are super friendly always saying hello ........whenever you pass.
The restaurant is excellent with a choice each evening of either Greek style dish or English style dish, we went half board with the intention of eating out a few times ......we did however eat in the hotel every night as the food was so good.......its a 3 course meal every night.
The pool is extremely clean in fact it is cleaned day & night, with lots of sun loungers around the pool, also a decked area with pool table, excellent pool bar with Billy the barman ensuring everyone is having a great time, he doesn’t hassle you or pester you he’s just a really nice guy with a real sense of comedy timing.....his cocktails are fantastic and only 2.50 euros between 4.30 /5.30pm HAPPY HOUR!!!!!!!!.
He also runs the evening bar OASIS which has different themes each night, ie Greek night, Film nights, etc etc...
You can organise car hire or bike hire via the lovely Stephanie at the car hire desk located in the hotel....if you want a car be sure to let her know a few days in advance. she can give you maps and lots of good advice on where to go etc... just a note she also runs the local dog sanctuary for rescued dogs on the island, so if you are an animal lover and you have any old dog leads, collars etc take them over for her as she is always so appreciative of them.........just tell her Darren told you she needed them.
On that note watch for the hotel owner Beverley and her rescued terrier Boomer ........Bev is fantastic and will sort out any reasonable requests you have,,,, she is so friendly and very informative about where to see what to do etc...Boomer is just fab he is so cute and very very playfull....
Mosquitos !!!! they do bite, they are about .....and you WILL get bitten , buy a plug in, also if you can buy (off) from the local Greek supermarket its about 6 euros, not 1 euro as heather the rep would have you believe........but it does work..... take as much repellent as you can carry. Oh and take a little pack of anti histamines if you get bitten by any of the bugs you can get a reaction and the local chemists charge lots for anti histamines (about 20 euros) so its cheaper to take a pack just in case.
Hire a fan for your room as it makes all the difference, the beach is 5 minutes from the hotel, its not sandy its shingle but its so clear and not very deep..........great for kids etc, supermarkets are about 2 minutes away and the resort is quite quiet........ yes you hear bikes, buses etc on the road outside as well as music from the German hotel opposite but everything closes down noise wise around 11.30pm/12.....
Go and have a great time and be sure to tell them what you have read........and mention if you remember that graham & Darren will see them all soon.....Have a great time and remember to enjoy the cocktails......
Watch out for Melinda (barmaid in Oasis bar at Pantheon), Billy’s girlfriend she is just the nicest person you could meet.....and so funny.........
Graham & Darren Manchester.....

After 4 1/2 hour delay with fly jet we finally arrived in Corfu. The resort of Messonghi is a quiet resort with everything i.e. shops beach Tavernas all within a minute or two’s walk.. Ideal for those not wanting to venture too far and also on the flat so no steep hills to worry about especially for the disabled. No difficulties for wheelchair users here. Plenty of free entertainment going on in all the nearby bars and hotels including Greek nights.
The Pantheon hotel is described by Olympic as being set in a quiet and peaceful location. The location is quiet but the hotel is certainly not due to the constant noise of mopeds revving at the car and bike hire situated in the hotel. Our room was directly above this so no chance of peace or quiet sitting on the balcony.
The hotel has a lift and is very handy for those with difficulties climbing the spiral stairs. The food at the hotels Mythos restaurant was faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful from the cleaners to the Chef who allowed me to make ice cubes to keep medication cool and also allowed me to store shop bought bottled water in his fridge. The hotel has its own entertainment including Greek night Karaoke live music and videos.
The hotel offers to take guests free of charge to their sister hotel in Benitses to use the Internet there and also provides transport back when you are finished..
The hotel is spotlessly clean. The pool area is cleaned continuously throughout the day. The steps for the pool are so far apart that it makes it difficult almost impossible getting out of the pool for those with restricted movement in their legs.
Now for the real negative. Our beds were unsafe due to the wooden slats not being long enough 3 to 6 inches short so leading to beds collapsing. Husband’s bed collapsed twice seriously injuring him in that he ended up in hospital he suffers with Osteoporosis . After second collapse I had too take off all the longer pieces of wood from my bed and put onto his to ensure that his bed was safe and secure. My bed collapsed on a daily basis and was just put back together by the cleaners also on a daily basis. Beverley the owner was aware and said that she had brought in longer pieces of wood but I feel that she should have overseen this herself to ensure the safety of the beds and her guests
However Beverley was extremely helpful once she realised the seriousness of the injuries caused to my husband and his medical condition. She called the Dr and also contacted Olympic when it was decided that it was in my husbands best interest that we return to the UK early.
Overall ours was the holiday from hell with my husband spending two days at the clinic and the rest of the time confined to our room because of his injuries and only venturing down for his evening meal. However we would return to Messonghi just to see more of the resort that we missed out on. We would also stay at the Pantheon again but Beverly has been forewarned that if we do I will inspect the condition of the beds on arrival and insist that they be changed immediately.
My advice to future guests inspect the beds and insist that something is done immediately if found to be unsafe. Also report it to your rep and get a report from her. Other than that have a happy holiday in Messonghi I’m sure you will.

We stayed at the pantheon for 2 weeks and had a brilliant time, taverns local and plenty of shop’s beach is shingle but everybody was really friendly.
The hotel is very basic but it is all over Greece , but the staff out shone everything nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend. This is a ideal place to relax in , the hotel as it’s own pool and 2 bar’s, the one at the side serve’s snacks.
On a evening the bottom bar [Oasis] is open for as long as people want to keep drinking is very lively and the bar man Billy is a really nice guy and keeps the party going .

We are a couple in our 60's and we stayed at the Pantheon hotel for a week in September.
Although the resort itself was beautiful and definitely worth a revisit the Hotel was abysmal.
Breakfast almost none existent, Slice of bread and some jam! Dinner was very poor, little choice and size of portion.
Nothing in the hotel worked, not even the door locks!!We only had hot water in the bathroom for one day of our weeklong stay.
Awful hotel and we would not go back if we were paid.
