Excellent food, service, room and views!
9 / 10
Aug 2009,

We have just returned home from five days at various hotels in Scotland and England. This one was by far the absolute best. As you drive up to the hotel, the views are breathtaking. The hotel itself is stunning in appearance. The receptionist was friendly, professional, polite and very informative. The decor of the hotel and the rooms was superb; very modern, very clean and the furniture was quality and in a classic style. The restaurant was excellent. We sat by a window the size of an entire wall looking out over vast fields and glasgow in the distance. The waitresses were brilliant and the restaurant manager clearly ran the place very well. He gave us an exceptional service and we felt very pampered; exactly how you should feel on a night away! The food was splendid - my partner hates salmon of any kind but the chef has managed to persuade him that in some restaurants it is worth tasting! The main courses (I had lamb) were alos very good; not too much on the plate and not too little, and the dessert was excellent. Good wine selection was available too. Breakfast was great although the eggs were really underdone but on the whole we loved it and will definitely be back next spring!

PLEASANT SUPRISE
8 / 10
Nov 2008, a.k.p.

Have just returned from a wedding held at the Hotel.Having read the reviews before we went I was beginning to think we had made a mistake but as the wedding was being hosted in the Hotel we decided it was easier to stay there. I am delighted to say that apart from a few minor niggles our 2 day stay and the reception was vey good. The meals we had at the hotel were very well presented and the restaurant staff were excellent. The food at the reception was of a very good standard as were the staff. The few niggles we had were as follows-several of our wedding party were issued with key cards for the rooms and we found that all of the cards would open any room in the hotel, on notifying the reception they apologised and issued us with some new ones but never asked for the return of the rogue cards which we were suprised about. We were left wondering how many other people had the same type of cars.As this hotel is very large and spread over a large area and several floors we found navigating to the various areas fairly difficult, maybe a small map in the rooms would be helpful. The views from the restaraunt of the surrounding area on a clear day is stunning.Overall we found the hotel and nearly all the staff to be very helpful and would be pleased to stay again.
