Paid cheap so didn’t expect much but this place was way below any of my expectations. Cleanliness is a must no matter what I pay, this place was not clean.
Booked a twin room got room 12, a cramped, dirty double with no where to put a case, or anywhere to put clothes had there been room to unpack. Banged legs on furniture every time I moved, this is not good for elderly.
Complained immediately but told nothing else available and that the room we had was for people who had mobility issues. The room was so tiny; anyone using it would have mobility difficulties. I protested and was told a room would be made available the next day. Next day I was shown another room (225) that was still not a twin, on second floor with no lift and we are both have mobility issues which were made known on initial booking. I was told it was the only room there was and I had to pay extra for it; I had to do this as at least there was room for the case in this room; all pictures are of this 'superior ' room.-gives you some idea of how bad the room 12 was.
Dirty sink, dirty stained carpet, shabby mismatched room which was not attended by any staff for the whole 5 day stay; not even the bins were emptied. Window frame held together with plasters. One couple refused to stay and booked into a different hotel and everyone I spoke to was complaining about their rooms.
Dining room only accessible by steep steps and the door to/from this cellar was disgusting. Menus were also dirty with food and the same smears were on mirrors and glass throughout my stay. Dining room staff was reasonably capable but Arish (think this was his name) was the only one who was really competent at his job. Only hotel I have ever stayed in where I was told I had to sit in a certain place on a certain table and once you sat down that was your seat for all of your stay-not allowed to change. It needs to be recognised that we are paying them and it is not for them to dictate where we sit or what we eat. No choice of breakfast and repetitive dinners-we ate out.
Female bar staff was sullen and unfriendly and reception staff couldn’t have cared less and none had any authority to take any action re complaints.
A cup of tea was requested by one couple whose wife was ill and they were told it couldn’t be done and when the husband asked to speak to the boss he was told the boss was not to be disturbed!!!
Entertainment was meant to be for 4 nights, same poor act for two nights and a begrudged rustled up bingo night.
Don’t let the refurbish fool you, it is very poorly done and won’t last long. Lovely new tiles but already covered in paint from amateur painters/decorators. Refurbishment will not improve service; I will never stay here again and will advise others not to also

Having seeing the new owners online special price promotion we decided to chance are luck at book a week, returning only last week.... all i can really say is the hotel has been given a mark of 9/10 by myself. The NEW owners are very hospitable and welcoming. The room we stayed in was very clean and a good size and tastefully furnished. We had breakfast in the morning which was lovely, fresh and the choice was superb. great value, perfect location & very friendly ! what more can I say !! welcomed with a great cup of tea, nothing was too much trouble. We paid extra for the sea view twin, the sea is right on the doorstep of the hotel, and the views were amazing at night and day.. well done on the refurbishment and good luck for the future. we have booked to come back in june for the ballroom dancing. 10/10

I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone...I had a single room with a scruffy carpet and a chair to match, the kettle on the floor and my tea tray in the window above the bed...no where else to put them as the TV stood on top of the small set of drawers at the bottom of the bed.Think I was one of the lucky ones as the shower and toilet was reasonably clean although the seat was broken.I dropped something on the floor and needed to move the bed to get it, not suprised but didn't expect to see so much dirt.
Little choice on the menu, expected better. Will not use again!!!

I booked this holiday knowing that it was a 'basic' holiday so didn't expect 3 star treatment. The place couldn't have been further from any expectations I had. The rooms were shabby, black gunge in both corners of shower cubicle, towels not changed all week despite being put out to change, carpet not ebing vaccuumed all week and pigeon poo at least 6 inches thick, wide and high on bathroom window ledge!!
The meals were worse than basic overall. Just one good meal all week and that was shepherds pie!! I had ordered plaice one day and when it came it smelt and tasted bad. I sent it back and was offered more plaice!! Settled for the shepherds pie instead. We have fozen diced carrots, peas and occassionally sweetcorn with every evening meal. The cereal was stale and cooked breakfasts got drier the further in to the week we went.
One evening two guests ordered ice cream. The waitress bought it and put it on a wooden trolley. One bowl fell onto the side and the ice cream ended up with tiny black bits on it. She looked at these bits and gave it to the customer to eat!!
The management did not want to know when guests complained. They just sat in the back office ignoring guests and leaving everything to one poor member of staff. This person was the only reason the holiday did not turn in to a farce.
I will never, ever book into this hotel again. I was going to say it is the worst hotel I have stayed in but it is in second place behind yet another Eastbourne hotel five minutes walk away!!

we arrived at this hotel on a sunday evening to be met with the most despicable room you could ever image dirty was not the word. filth is more appropiate that is the only way we could discribe the whole place. The food was unedible and many complaints where made not just by myself but other guests.
