Sunnymeade is a "no-thrills" comfortable hotel that offers a warm welcome and fabulous B&B facilities. There are 3 disabled parking bays and a good ramp up to the main door. There is also a wheelchair friendly path to the fantastic gardens, although this is not all that... more

Fawlty Towers eat your heart out!
I think this place masquerades as a hotel solely for the purpose of bumping up its prices. What kind of a hotel insists on full payment up front? There was no telephone in the room, there was nowhere to move because the room was so cramped, using the tea-making facility was an art in itself as there was nowhere to place anything, and there was no bar! The 'Hotel' is situated on a very fast road that is at least a couple of miles from anywhere. At dinner when I asked for a lager, a (warm) bottle of lager was unceremoniously dumped in front of me with the word "beer" uttered as she walked away. As no glass was supplied I used the wine glass on the table and she looked at me as if I was insane (instead of just getting me a suitable glass). The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and neither myself nor my partner got a wink of sleep all night. When we arrived for breakfast at 9.15 we were moaned at, even though the room -guide stated that breakfast was served up to 9.30, and we were then served up sausages that smelt awful.. The presence of two old labradors in the dining room did nothing to reassure us of any decent level of hygiene, and the room-key rack located just inside the front door is an open invitation to opportunist thieves. Overall, the experience felt like we were unwelcome visitors staying in someone's private home and were just being tolerated. We beat a hasty retreat less than a day after arriving (losing a lot of money in the process), but it was worth it not to have our long-awaited holiday completely ruined. Please be advised to give this place a very wide berth.
