Sur Y Sol Apartments

I stayed here in June this year and it was fantastic. The apartment, which is privately owned, was to a very high standard, modern and clean. The gardens and pathways are very clean and tidy too. Free sunbeds, not overcrowded, close to all the local amenities and some lovely restaurants. Would definately stay here again.

Was worried about going to sur y sol complex after reading reviews, panic over as we have just got back from our 2 week holiday and we had a great time. Our apartment was clean,the pool area great not overcrowded and plenty sunbeds free of charge. Our party consisted of myself,husband,daughter,partner,and 4yr old so various age groups and everyone enjoyed it. It has security fencing all around the complex and you can only gain access by a key. The pool area is also gated so no worries about small children entering unattended. The gardens are kept to a high standard and a lady came everyday sweeping and mopping the footpaths so everywhere was spotless. The location is fantastic only a short walk to the sea front, we would not hesitate to return in the future.

After reading a recent review on this site I was a bit worried about the apt i booked , i think the previous holiday makers must of just had a one off bad experience. Apartment was spotless when we arrived , bathroom sparkling !! the hot water in the apartment was fine. as for the complex it was beautiful ! a gardener tends to the garden daily, and i saw the walkways swept and mopped daily. during my holiday the showers in the pool area were replaced, Sur Y Sol is very quite, friendly and secure complex and number 43 was clean and well equipped just as i expected from the photos. i really felt i had to write this review after seeing the previous comments as i was more than happy with my accommodation and my weeks holiday!

Don’t Stay here its NOT worth the money
Just got back from a weeks stays with my boyfriend 24.09.10 - 01.10.10
I know that every apartment will be different as they are privately owned, but ours was not even cleaned properly when we got there. The apartment was booked through Owners Direct, and we had apartment No 43.
1st off the Pool area was really worn out, peeling paint from the floor area and the actual pool really need draining and re tiling as there were black bits between the actual tiles in the pool, and I would not even step into the shower to cool off as the tiles were the same.
There was always dead bugs in the pool it was not cleaned out each day, after day 3 there was a chap painting the floor area around the pool, which did make it look a bit better but the pool water was not crystal clear so I would not venture into it.
I know that every apartment will be different as they are privately owned, Ours even stated Recently Refurbished, and looked lovely from the pictures with 2 leather settees in an open plan living kitchen area, but ours
was not even cleaned properly when we got there, as there was toothpaste still in the sink from the previous guests (and bodily hairs). The wall points were dangerous when trying to pull the plugs out as they came away from the wall, the hot water tap did not have running water from it in the kitchen,. I had to clean all kitchen cupboard handles as they were covered in grease and icky bits, that could have spread salmonella. The bathtub had to be scrubbed clean as there was a massive scum line around it and the shower curtain had a massive orange stain on the bottom of it with back mould bits on it too, the shower head looked a bit dodgy too, I never felt clean when getting out of that shower.
I don’t think our owner was interested in the apartment anymore as there was a For Sale sign in the window.
Apart from the above we had a good time going out,
10 min walk and your at the beach area which was a really nice and had a fountain in the sea, Pubs and restaurants were nice too very cheap 3 courses at 7-8 euros and pint of lager about 1.25 euro, further up the little hill from the complex are more bars, Bar 39 / Taylor's Lounge and Shambles to mention a few, very British which was really good.

We loved this complex from getting to the entrance,To leaving two weeks later.Its all private rentals and by the looks of things 100% better than when Thompsons used to have it when we last stayed there in 2001.Theres a Pool area and a paddling pool for the kids,Its close to the beach,Nightlife and only a short stroll into the town centre.Our apartment had everything in it from plasma tv to washing machine and everything in between.The couple we booked it from had us picked up from the airport.Shown the ropes of how to operate everything,And left us a card incase of an emergancy.
We had never gone abroad before without booking through a travel agent.For the money we saved and how nice the whole experience was.Well definately be staying there again

First time abroard with our 4yr old twins brill the complex is fenced off so our kids colud not escape n you needed a key to get in (and out) so no unwanted sellers accomadation good clean, pool ideal a small one for the kids and another for older/swimmers, nice little cafe for snacks and ice creams, very friendly, as stated no hills 5 min walk to beach loads of places to eat, good sunday flee (type) market, dont forget to haggle!!!
enjoyed it that much we are returning oct 08!

Sur y Sol is a fantastic complex, seafront 5 mins, lovely pool and a really nice atmosphere around the place - definitely recommend.
And as someone else has said - no hills to climb!
It looks like a new fence has been put round so no security issues and all the apartments have had a paint job as well.
I think most of the apartments are lived in year round, which again adds to the nice atmosphere.
Plenty of sun beds as well, which made a nice change... taxi rank 200 yards away which is handy too.
