Playa Palms Beachfront Hotel

Playa Palms is the new name for the old Blue Parrot hotel on the beach in Playa del Carmen. The property is under new management and they are doing a great job. I have stayed there several times over the past year had continue to refer friends. It took a few months for the transition, but I can honestly say that Playa Palms is one of the best located and friendliest places to stay in Playa del Carmen

Just returned from Spring Break '08 in Playa del Carmen. The Playa Palms is a wonderful small hotel with a great location. All rooms have balaconies or porches with ocean views. The rooms are very clean as is the property itself. The staff was always working either cleaning the grounds or the rooms. Great location right on the beach with calm waters and comfortable padded beach loungers. We were very fortunate to find a room at this hotel since the hotel we originally booked was horrible. We have stayed at this hotel 5 times in the last 7 years. The location is pretty nice, close to downtown, but the fishing boats anchor on the beach in front, but we have always been OK with that. Property is maintained nicely, looks better than past. But.... toilet had puddles around it on occasion. Was told by someone also staying there that Playa Palms was the only place he used his credit card, and that the next day there was $2K in nearby Office Depot charges. We recently spent a week at the Playa Palms Beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It was an overall great experience. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff friendly and helpfull, and the beach was perfect. There are multiple restaurants and clubs for excellent food and night life. You are not restricted to an all inclusive environment. Also note that we felt completely safe the entire time. It is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beach vacation.

We stayed at this wonderful small hotel at the end of January beginning Feb o8. We booked through travelyucatan but they have their own website if you choose. It is a little tricky to find but it is about 2 blocks east of quinta avenida (fifth avenue) the main tourist pedestrian walkway, between 12th and 14th St North. It is right on the beach Position A. My husband and I booked this hotel based on a few years earlier experience in Playa Del Carmen. The original hotel we stayed at was lost to hurricanes. We loved the beach and quiet beauty so jumped on the opportunity to stay once again on the beach and at a special rate of $99 for a beach front room. But sometimes things are too good to be true. When we arrived and saw the sparce room...no bedspread, until we asked, no radio, no phone, no dressers or coffee for the coffeemaker for starters,we were a little concerned. after checking out of my original hotel within 2 hours of arriving i found playa palms nearby. the hotel is simple but well done. there is a patio and hammock attached to every room along with a coffee maker, a fridge and sink. bathrooms are large and clean. the room also has a couch and large tv. i was lucky enough before i left to see a model of the new renovated rooms. the hotel has access to the beach and free beach chairs, a pool and a place to rinse off scuba gear or yourself ...i will definately stay here again and bring a group

Used to be part of the Blue Parrot chain...new ownership now. We booked partly because of special rate, but also because website pics looked great and property right on the beach. BEWARE --website is not accurate. Hotel under renovation!! Our room had unfinished drywall, water leaks (puddles on floor), nasty bedspread/curtains, dirt, mold, rust, etc. I did however see other rooms that looked much better. Very nice, price was more than what was quoted they said its because the exchange rate was different. Clean and great location.

My wife and I just got back. Had a great time. We stayed for a week. It turns out the Playa Palms is the old Blue Parrot under new management. The rooms were nice, clean, and cheap $69/night. (They tell me that price ends in Dec.) Helge the new manager along with Victor and their staff were great. This has to be the best location in Playa right on the beach and still only one block to 5th Avenue, plenty of good restaurants and night life. We will be going back in Feb for two weeks.
