very friendly, accomodating, local knowledge superb, will be returning
from poppySurreyUk
our room was so small to start with, should be a single, but the hotel realised this and offered to move us to a bigger one, very understanding. Melissa from guest relations, was brilliant with the visitors, again local info, tips, visits etc all very informative. Loved the breakfast and afternoon tea on the terrace (weather permitting in between the floods! ) Location just brilliant , walked everywhere, as traffic a nightmare! Local restaurants fab, hotel recommended many, even next door...We will be returning next year....
Perfect choice
from StathisK
We travelled to Instanbul by our own car in the end of August and stayed at the Hotel for 4 days with my wife and my 6 wear-old son. Arriving there we realised that the Hotel didn't have a Parking as we expected ("free parking" was mentioned in www.Instanbul.com, the site that we used to make our resrvation), but the man in the reception arranged immediately to park in the "Otopark" just one block away and gave us one of the best rooms of the Hotel (408) with magnificent view over Maramara sea.The room was quiet, clean and well decorated, although we would like a more spacious bathroom. The Hotel is in the heart of the Old City, with restaurants, cafes and mini markets all around and an excellent view from the terrace over the sea,the Blue Mosque and Ayia Sofia. The stuff was very helpful and kind (special thanks to Melisa at the reception !) and the breakfast was more than adequate, although we would like to have it on the terrace, instead of the ground floor, since the weather was perfect. The location was also perfect as we could easily drive, whithin 2 minutes ,to Kennedy Kadesi and from there to all the main roads around Bosphorus, although driving in Insanbul is like a Level 10 electronic game, in which you are chased by all kinds of vehicles (especially taxis) and you try to avoid them, whithout bonus lives!! We were pleased with the arrangement of the payment of Parking fees (60TL) by the Hotel (again thanks to Melisa and the Hotel manager) and we strongly recommend the Hotel as a perfect choice !

Perfectly Situated in The Ancient City.
from Bourne5
We were in Istanbul both for business & leisure. Having not been to the city before and knowing we will be in Istanbul regularly we were searching for a hotel that suits all our requirements. This hotel is perfect! - The staff including Orhan Karakaz were amazing and the rooms suitable for us. The hotel has a fantastic Spa that offers so many treatments including Turkish Bath & Massage. The roof terrace is amazing and offers superb views across the old ancient city, the Blue Mosque & the Marmara sea. Very romantic. The Byzantium is perfectly situated within Sultanahmet & a short walk to the Topkapi Palace. This hotel is not expensive, it is very clean and the rooms a good size. And we found it peaceful after a day in the City. There are good restaurants within walking distance and overall we highly recommend and also commend the hotel on its service. Orhan will arrange any tour you may wish to take & the room service is excellent. This hotel is excellent value. Highly recommended.

I would recommend this hotel
from BrisCaz
I did like this hotel - again, however, you need to make sure that you get a decent room. I was in 306 and really needed to be one floor up because my so-called sea view was partially blocked by a building. However, the room was spacious and clean and the view, such as it was, was ok. Mind you, I did pay for double occupancy even though I was a single traveller ( I just got sick of being stuck into pokey single rooms in all the other places I stayed) AND I did pay extra for the sea view. All in all it was not a bad room really - there are some rooms at the front of the hotel and they dont have sea views but then again they might have other interesting views. From what I saw the "07" rooms (307/407) were pretty small so the "choice" room would have to be 408 and then 308 as second choice (I think I have the room numbers correct - sometimes when you are travelling so much you tend to forget room numbers as you stay in so many. LOL). Ok - enough about rooms. The staff were courteous and I cant really fault them. On my last day I was sitting in reception for quite a long time waiting for my airport transfer and I was offered a cup of tea which I thought was nice. However, I was dismayed to see two Finnish tourists, who were also leaving same time as me, allowed to use bathroom facilities to clean up before they left. It left me wondering why I wasnt offered this but then again I didnt ask so maybe I shouldnt complain. The bed was comfortable and I got some decent nights sleeps during my stay - which is pretty amazing for me in hotels. There was some noise from the kitchens if you left the windows open but generally, with the heat, I had the windows closed and the a/c full on. The air conditioning worked very well by the way. The hotel supplies little things like: sewing kit, power adaptor, slippers which I thought was quite nice. I would recommend this hotel and I dont do that lightly. It is in a great location and does have nice rooms. It is clean and not too overly priced. Yes, you can most likely get cheaper accomodation but I think if you want to be in the Sultanahmet you cant go wrong with this hotel.

Great location, great staff, great hotel.
from GreekReporter
The Byzantium is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Sultanahmet. You are within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Agia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar, and there is easy metro access for everything else. The staff at the hotel are very friendly. They are more than willing to give you insider tips about where to eat or what to see, and to help with anything else. The hotel offers a free buffet breakfast in the morning which is delicious, and there is an in-hotel hammam and spa offering all sorts of relaxation services.

A friendly hotel with good customer service
from MacT66
A friendly hotel with good customer service. Just what we needed to escape the hustle bustle. Room was fantastic, nice sea view, sparkling clean, AC, small and compact but with ample space. Our room was fairly noisy, could hear next door's AC buzzing away. We were impressed by the buffet breakfast on the first morning. However, on the second day the bread was stale and we realised that it had been served the previous day. This could have been a one-off as it was the day after the beginning of Ramadan. Staff were helpful whenever we had a query or request, always more than willing and happy to help. The hotel also has a spa. The treatments sounded good and were reasonably priced.

Very nice hotel which I would recommend to friends
from Pariee
It was a week-end in Istanbul. I was searching for nice place for reasonable money. This hotel's location is realy fitting to see all historical monument with walking distances. Especially st sophia, blue mosque and topkapı palace. Panaroma which you have on the terrace is really nice. Also wonderful sea view. Room was very clean and comfortable. Air condition worked very good for that hot period. Staff is very helpfull and well respected. There is also you can use spa what is rarity for city hotels. Thanks for all staff and management. If I return to istanbul I will absolutely stay the Byzantium hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of this hotel
from HolidayJunky007
The hotel is situated just off the square featuring the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace is at the end of the street, so its right in the heart of sightseeing in Istanbul. The rooms were well decorated and modern and very clean, although small. The bathroom was also small (though this seems to be the trend in turkish hotels). The staff were helpful and professional There are a number of hotels and restaurants in the surrounding streets so evening entertainment is right on your doorstep. A very pleasurable expierence and would recommend the hotel to anyone. In March the weather tends to be cold during the day and frosty at night.

this hotel is second of none, You can not but fall in love
from venusecho5
For the first time in our lives we choose something blindly and it turns to be the perfect and right choice for us. This hotel is an example of hospitality, generosity and kindness. The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful. We were blind, we did not know where to go and how, they directed us and made the perfect plan for us. We had lots of free tea and coffee. The owner of the hotel, Mr. Haqi has overwhelmed us with his gentleness and he was too kind to respond to our personal needs personally. Mr. Ozgur, the sales manager, had personally made sure that we have our transportation from and back to the airport, and helped us in other financial matters. A special thanks to Mr. Jankeez, Ceaser, Polat, Malesa, Denes, Kefsar, Adam and many others hotel staff with whom we had built a great relationship just as a family members. We deeply thank you guys for everything you did for us. Wish you the best.

Not bad at all...
from 7TIO
Very nice hotel. I had room with perfect seaview. Room was clean and good furnished. Good personnel. Nice terrace on the roof. Hotel is located very close to tourist attractions. Breakfast is on avaerage level. Main issues: breakfast is served in the ground hall, not in the roof terrace. Air conditioning does not work properly living at its own.
We went for 3 days and 2 nights. The hotel knew 24 hours in advance that they were over booked and did not contact our travel agent to let him know. When we got there, we were told we would be taken to a comparable hotel on the same street. It was not even close in... more
