Four Seasons Vilamoura

We stayed for a week in the off-season during December 2007 on an RCI booking. We had a huge, fully furnished and equipped 2-bedroom apartment to share with our two small children. The apartment had everything, down to the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher! Our balcony had a great view overlooking the central swimming pool area. Since it was winter we only used the indoor pool and jacuzzi and we basically had the entire place to ourselves. This is a beautiful hotel with all guest amenities and services. It is situated in Vilamoura next to the old town, but quite a distance from the Marina itself. It's a nice walk but a rather stiff uphill walk back. Since we had a rented car it did not matter. It is a great hotel to stay in and the size of the apartments is really something! Although we stayed on a self-catering basis, it was also possible to dine in the restaurant or to order room service. Vilamoura itself is modern and not at all typical to Portugal. For that you need to go to towns such as nearby Loule, or even further to Sagres or Monchique. The closest town to Vilamoura is Quarteira (5mins by car) which has a more authentic Portuguese feel with some quaint restaurants and great pastelarias (small confectionery shops that serve coffee and truly delicious Portuguese pastries). You can also buy great seafood at the market next to the beach-side promenade. We can recommend the Four Seasons without hesitation!
