At last a portal on which to express my disgust at this hotel and the way it treats its guests - they dont even answer the telephone, always just a voice message - I presume they just want to pick and choose what calls they deal with!
I was staying here primarily for business, but as I love the island decided to make a break of it, treating my employees to boot. From the very start I sensed problems - a very unpleasant woman at reception whom I later learned was one of the owners, disputing my booking (which was duely rectified when her partner appeared on the scene).
The standard of accomodation was basic (to say the least) one of our 3 rooms had a leak in the ceiling - 3 rooms for 4 nights is a considerable booking so one does expect at least a dry ceiling and a welcoming smile - none of which was available!
Throughout our stay we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable, with the aforementioned woman talking about us to locals in the bar DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US! The phrase "English B*$%"*^s" was even used at one point. The ridiculously over-priced restaurant had a lovely chicken dish - the food left-over from the Wedding breakfast which was going on in the tents outside. I know this for a fact as I was working at it!!!!!!
They must really enjoy taking advantage of their "captive market" as there is not a shop for 10 miles and god only knows where its nearest competitor is!
I have tried to make direct contact with the hotel management to air my grievances, however whenever I call....yes...you've guessed...its an answer machine!
Luckily I have been to Skye before and have had some great experiences, however if I was a first-timer, i'd turn on my heels and run!
I know I gave this a 1 out of 10 - it doesn't even merit the 1!
