West Park Hotel

Booked to stay at this hotel through work for a recent conference/exhibition in Harrogate. Chose its location as it’s only a short walk into town yet not right in the centre. Having read some of the previous comments posted on Trip Advisor however, we arrived at the hotel with some trepidation. Stayed for three days and couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. I've stayed at the West Park a couple of times before and never had any intention of going back and why would we? The rooms were dirty, staff were unfriendly and unreliable. I was looking for a room in Harrogate for the 9th and 10th Sept, unfortunetely the Bridal fair was on and the whole town was fully booked so the only option was to go back to The West Park. september 9th/07stay at West park Harrogate. Recently taken over by management who have the blues bar in harrogate. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. really friendly staff personal service. A great location I would most definitly recommend this hotel to any one!

Please do not stay at this hotel if you are hoping for a relaxing stay.From the moment of checking in to leaving i had a most unpleasant time.The staff,when you could find them were not very helpful and seemed totally dissinterested.The room i occupied was dreary and in need of a coat of paint and also a good clean.There was a cd player in the room which was a nice touch,but that is about the best thing i can say.The hotel has great potential and it is sad that it is not of a higher standard.My next stay in Harrogate will most definitely not... more

Lovely location and impressive description on website, but what a disappointment! Great potential but currently more like a dreary hostel than a boutique hotel! Clean and comfy beds but grotty bathroom in the family suite. Amusing contrast of fancy Molton Brown toiletries and trendy black and white tiles but no toilet seat! Bedrooms a little grotty too - not very clean and with ricketty furniture. Someone had spilled cocoa pops on the bedroom carpet and these had not been hoovered up. Lovely underfoot! Stayed 7th July for one night with friends, booked 6 rooms between us. A very disappointing stay, but we made the most of it! The Hotel: A lovely old building overlooking the stray and an easy 5 min walk to the town centre shops & Betty's etc. Small parking area at rear (through arch). Public car park around corner (£4 for 24 hrs). Its true that this hotel does have a great location close to the heart of Harrogate, but thats about the only compliment I can pay it. I found this hotel on the internet and was quite taken with the pictures and its description as a 'boutique' hotel. When I arrived I was greeted by a member of staff who I can safely say did not graduate from a hospitality centre of excellence. A bit Fawlty Towers but what a great stay! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The Manager was very helpful and efficient. The standards in the restaraunt were very high and the food was exquisite and the continuity followed with breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful although Fawlty Towers did spring to mind a few times. But we laughed it off and overall we had a really great stay. It's frightening how a website can create an image of a place that is so far removed from reality. This place is strange. Not the 'boutique' hotel it claims to be!! It could be amazing. Great location over looking the park and a short stroll from town. However...the whole place appears to have been decorated by the design team on Changing Rooms circa 1992. This hotel is in a great location in the centre of Harrogate but unfortunately could be so much better. The room was basic and the bathroom was in need of upgrading- it definitely wasn't somewhere we wanted to spend time in.
