Europa Hotel Reviews

Feb 2004, Mr E Buchanan

We, as a group of between 8 and 15 people, have been visiting the Hotel Europa for the last 9 years. The four-course evening meal is excellent, breakfasts more than ample, and the bar a wonderful place to recap on the days activities. The Europa is 50metres from the Cretaz... more

Friendly, charming, elegant
I'd just sprained my ankle when I arrived, a refugee from a rather grotty hotel and Miriam and Gassim managed to put myself and my husband up at short notice (and were incredibly hospitable and attentive, offering me a seat and a complimentary drink in the heat). The first night we stayed in a standard room, which is just that, but it was clean and although the road was noisy at the front, it wasn't when the windows were closed. The second and third nights, they managed to accommodate us in the "suites", which are fabulous, elegantly furnished and very quiet, and made me feel like a princess. The whole family made us extremely welcome, particularly as it was my husband's birthday. All this at a very reasonable rate in comparison to other hotels. Thanks for everything!
Quality Accommodation and Service
We have just returned from spending 2 nights in the Hotel Europa Suites in Florence and had a wonderful time. When we arrived the hotel's computer system had malfunctioned and there was a problem with the number of rooms required. However, after we returned from lunch the situation was resolved, three beautiful suite rooms as reserved. The family could not have been more helpful. The hotel was so peaceful it was difficult to believe that you were staying in the city centre. Perfect location, perfect accommodation and service. Thank you Gassim and co. We will return again soon.
Great Hotel for Relatively Small Price
If you are travelling to Florence, make the Hotel Europa part of your journey. It's in a great location, very near to the museums you will want to visit. The rooms and common areas were very very clean and tastefully done. The hosts speak excellent English and were as friendly as family. They even have a workstation you can use for free to access the internet. Really, I can't say enough good things about the place. I'm sure if you spent 5 or 6 times the money, you'll find a more posh space. But this hotel would be a bargain at twice the price.
Great Hotel
The Hotel Europa in Florence, Italy provided a wonderful experience. It is operated by a very friendly staff (family-owned), is very clean, the rooms are spacious, the location great for travel throughout the city and the breaksfast is just right. Would recommend to anyone and would use again on a future trip.
Good hotel in two star category
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable and centrally located. Note that the street (via cavour) is busy and so can be noisy at night. It didn't bother us though.
Charming 2 star hotel
We stayed at the Europa in early May for 4 nights and were delighted. We usually book 3 stars or better but I had read a very positive review of the Europa in the NY Times from a couple of years ago so we decided to try it. Our first room was on the main floor at 100E/night in high season for a double, which includes their cold breakfast with lots of choices. It was bare, small and neat but it had all the usual accoutrements of higher-level hotels. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the Duomo in one direction and two blocks from the Accademia in the other. Our room was facing the street and noise at night got to be a bit much so we switched to one of the suites on the lower floor (130E/night) and were very happy with it. Our room faced onto a quiet courtyard (some have views of the Duomo) and was about twice the size of the first room. I highly recommend the Europa. The staff is charming and helpful, plus there's a computer for the use of guests at no charge! Someone else said they were pushy about where you could sit for breakfast but we didn't encounter this ... perhaps the hotel was more crowded at that time. If you are looking for de luxe accommodations this won't be the place for you. But if you want a reasonably priced, neat and clean hotel -- try the Europa.
Relax and comfortable stay!
We stayed in Florence just for one night, but the stay in Hotel Europe made the short stay very comfortable and memorable. First of all, I do appreciate their quick responce to my inquiry through the internet. I asked them the availability of the rooms quite last minutes, but they answered my question and request perfectly in pleasant manner. We stayed in suite rooms, which was pretty, clean and comfortable. My friend is really particular about the cleanness in the bathroom, but she was quite satisfied with that. The most impressive part of this hotel is the peple working there. We received excellent service from them, especially from the owner. He seemed very happy with what he did, and which made me feel relax and comfortable staying with them. As I also work in sevice industry, I learned a lot of thing from him- friendly but not to over friendly. The location of the hotel is also good. I do recommened the people going Florence to stay with them! Thank you!
Amazing Florence
We spent a week in Florence at the end of April 2005 and stayed at the Hotel Europa. The staff were really friendly, kind and helpful and made us feel really welcome. We asked for a room with a view and got a lovely balcony filled with exotic plants and flowers - with a great view of the Duomo and Giotto's bell tower. The hotel is clean and comfortable and in a great location just a few minutes walk from the Duomo, the Baptistery, San Lorenzo Church and many other wonderful sights. We would definitely go back.
Excellent hotel great staff and value
An affordable hotel very centrally located with an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The hotel run by a sweet family was clean and bright. The proprieters took pride in their business and were willing to provide for any requests. There were no hidden costs or unpleasant surprises. When checking in they offered us a tour of the rooms they had available and let us choose the one we wanted. After checking out they took care of our bags for hours while we roamed the city and then when we finally left they gave us a bottle of chianti! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who was looking for a comforatble centrally located spot.
Home away from home
The Hotel Europa is a family run hotel and it shows....we felt safe and at home.....the rooms are lovely especially the suite rooms....we stayed in both the suite rooms and the non suite rooms and we found them both more than adequate....we had a view of the top of the Duomo as well.....the care and pride of place shows......breakfasts were fun especially using the cappuccino machine which Gassim enjoyed showing us how to operate.....simple pleasures!!!! There was nothing that Gassim and Family would not do for us and smiling always.....
