Disappointing
from catait
When I booked this accomodation I was assured that it was for a suite with a bay window with fantastic sea views, this wasn't what we got. We were on the second floor in suite with a small window, you had to stand to get the view. I spoke with the manager who offered his apologies stating that they'd had problems with an errant member of staff who frequently made promises he couldn't keep - really not our problem. As an apology we were offered a free round of drinks. The manager also said that he'd made the owner aware and he was sure he would speak with us later, he never spoke with us. As a family with a young child, our accomodation is really important to us as we spend a lot of time in it. Whilst superficially the suite was nice, quality fixtures and fittings, it just didn't work practically. There was so little storage both in the kitchen and in the bedrooms. The tv is high up on the wall giving you a crick in your neck, no cd or dvd, 5 star, i really don't think so. Other negatives - The restaurant is appalling. We'd read some good reviews and thought we'd give it a try, my advice, don't bother. The steak was a ball of fat and the portions were child size, the service was dire also. On a positive note, the location is great and once we'd lowered our expectations we had a lovely time. Filey is a great place to go with little ones but we certainly won't be going back to 5leys.
This place LOVES kids!!!!
from Bondgirl13
At last a restaurant with great food that I can take a toddler to and she is treated with the same respect as the rest of us! The UK doesn't do many 5 star family friendly places so this is a real find. I'm sure it's brilliant too if you haven't got kids but just because we procreate doesn't mean we suddenly don't want to go to nice places. The owners and staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Many thanks and see you again soon!
"A Must"

5 Leys is one my top list of places to stay. I can't recommend it highly enough. The appartments are stunning, the views fantastic, the food is excellant and to a high standard, they source local produce which is brilliant, even local cheeses and they have a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which is brilliant. The staff are polite, helpful and are clearly there to ensure your stay is enjoyed. I am booking to go back in August.
Fantastic place to stay

We have stayed at 5Leys a few times now and have been delighted each time. The place is superbly located with fabulous sea views. The apartments have everything you could need. And the welcome and help given by John and the team is fantastic.
Heavenly

I recently stayed at the 5 Leys holiday accomodation with my Husband and 5 month old son and it was completely perfect. We went expecting a luxury 5 star apartment with sea view over Filey and we were not disapointed, it was wonderful! The apartment was simply done yet stylish with solid oak kitchen units and doors and all mod cons including flat TVs in every room and a dishwasher. It was completely spotless and appeared to be extremely well maintained too. It was everything we would expect from a 5 star and extremely good value for money (we paid £450 for the week). All the staff were fabulous and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We also ate in the Bistro on the Saturday night and the food was lovely. So much so that we also went back on our last day to round off our holiday. The prices for both the bar and bistro are very reasonable and reflect the quality of the food and the surroundings without being extortionate. Very well done to all at 5 Leys, your accomodation and service is outstanding and well deserving of its 5 stars!

What a great place!!!

What a fantastic place this is a hidden gem!! Right on the seafront and the room we had had a great seaview. The layout of the rooms was great with a well appointed kitchen and more than enough space dining space, great comfy sofas and decoration was modern and fresh. Bathroom was of a good size and shower above was great and easy to use. Bedrooms were plenty big enough will plenty of room to hang clothes etc and the beds have lovely big soft quilts and loads of pillows not like some places i have stayed where you only get one each, there is even a tv on wall in each bedroom and a cupboard in the hall where you will find household bits such as iron and sweeper this is a great place to store cases rather than bedroom and any other stuff you may bring with you that you need to store away. Overall a great stay the staff and mangement could not do enough and made this a memorable and enjoyable stay, would recommend to anyone!!
A forgotten gem

Filey is a quaint seaside town that is going through a makeover which will help to make it appeal to younger holiday makers and those wanting a short break holiday. We stayed at 5leys, a seafront property which has had a multi-million pound redevelopment and featurea a trendy bar, restaurant and holiday apartments which are for sale outright or, as we did, hired out by the week. Our apartment was fantastic; very contemporary in style with a great kitchen featuring top end applainces, leather settee and chairs, 3 plasma TVs (one in the main room and one in both bedrooms), a lovely bathroom and, best of all, stunning views across Filey bay. Watching the sunrise on a gorgeous September morning is something we wont forget in a hurry. We ate is some nights, but there are some lovely restaurants to pick from; 5leys serves modern English dishes, but still has room for the traditional fish and chips which are as good as you will find anywhere, and are only the same price as some of the cafes in town. Next door is a boutique hotel with a restaurant open to the public and in the town there are several good place worth a visit. Filey is great as a base for touring the area, there are great walks on the Cleveland and Wolds Ways, and plenty in and around the town as well. Try a walk on the Brig for great views of Flamborough, Scarborough and nearby Bempton is a RSPB bird sanctuary. I can thoroughly recommend this as a place for a family holiday or a short break, and try 5leys - either for a drink, a meal or better still as a place to stay - you wont be disappointed
What a gem!

My family & I have just spent a week in a 2 bedroomed suite at this lovely hotel and we will definately be returning next year. An ideal place to take a young family (we have a 2 and a half year old & a 10 month old). The suite itself was fabulous and our view of the beach was the same! The staff were extremely helpful & keen to make our holiday a great one. (They even found us a spare bucket & spade for the beach!!) We ate in the restaurant several times, the menu & food were excellent (including the childrens menu). What a gem this hotel is, a 5 star place & a great holiday was had by us all.
My husband and I stayed at 5 Leys at the beginning of February. The special prices on offer were amazing, and these enabled us to be able to spend longer with our son and his family, who live very close to your hotel. We had originally booked an apartment on the top... more
