More Traveller Reviews of Polyusi Apartments
unexpectedly surprised
from gerloo
I was on a property hunt trip and booked a package holiday and this was the hotel allocated. I found the staff to be mostly pleasant (1 was less amenable than the rest) The food was o.k for me but my grandson aged 10 did not like it much, he is not a fussy child, but everything he did not like was present. The hotel was of far greater standard than I expected. It was clean and the fabrics and furnishings of reasonable to good quality. Not much to do other than play pool. Being the end of the holiday season it was closing down, as was the rest of Sunny Beach. It was useful having climate control for the cold days and the TV had a wide variety of English speaking channels. They even do a Bulgarian variation of Deal or no deal. I was in a twin room originally booked for me and my son (28) who could not go. There was little room to move the beds apart and we would have had to create private space. Yes I would go again
polyusi hotel
from paulalincs
just returned from two weeks in polyusi hotel. the polyusi is a appartment block next to the sever /yug hotel .it is quite a new building but unfinished which is typical of bulgarians. the bathroom consists of shower cubicle which was quite good. it is suppose to be self catering which consists of kettle,microwave.fridge.it is basic but you get what you pay for.the balconies were in shade all day most faced main road over bins nice.we asked for pool view got view of main road but there was a large puddle of rain was this my pool view next door asked for high roon got second other couple asked for bottom got top room so maybe ask for opposite of what you want..the main pool arround hotel did not have enough sunbeds also over half of pool was in shade all day so your chasing sunshine .most of hotel workers were friendly but poor english some though did not crack a smile and not helpful.there is three lounges .the coctail lounge offers happy hour between seven and eight and games of bingo.karoke in adjoining pub certain nights. they have hairdressers, massage, nail salon.internet etc only open in summer months as bulgaria closes end of september
great place

me and my boyfriend stayed in the Polyusi in september, we went self catering,we stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which easily could of taken 3-4 people.the bathroom had a proper shower with cubicle and hot water tank, which never went cold. The apartment was big, clean, moden and bright and airy.we had a balcony which you could get to from the sitting room plus the bedroom.also we had air conditioning,,The whole place was very clean with cleaners constantly cleaning, staff were polite and friendly.the only down fall was some people liked to hog the sunbeds.. but with a beach as long as sunny beach we just went there instead.Every thing was with in walking distance and catered for every one from the young to the old..and CHEAP!!! we paid 42p for a stein of lager, and most places do buy one get one free... I took £200 with me for the week, and by the last day only spent £180.and that was with eating out every day some times having a a 3 course meal in the eveing, plus buying a load of gifts back for every one!! i or my partner could not fault this hotel or holiday at all and we will be definatly goning back again
One of the best

Read very bad reviews so was pleasantly suprised at the quality of the hotel as we did not pay much. My wife and I were given a 2 room suite with climate control (which was handy as the weather was unseasonably bad) fridge and free TV with plenty of English channels. Maid service was excellent and they waited until you left the room. The hotel has been refurbished and was kept very clean. Breakfast was good with even Bulgarian hot breads available. The staff were very friendly apart from a couple of reception staff who were 'clinical' rather than bad. The bars were good although the main bar seating was a bit uncomfortable as the foam has worn and you had a piece of wood sticking in your back. Short walk to the front. Pools were very clean. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone.
Fantastic Holiday Fun
from Sabtim
My wife, 2 children and myself went for 2 weeks to the Polyusi and had a wonderful time. The rooms and hotel in general were spotless and being constantly cleaned. The breakfast which was buffet style was delicious, there were eggs, liver, sausages, cereals, fruit, bread, yogurt. All the staff were very friendly. The evening entertainment was a bit boring as it was the same every night and it was a shame that smoking wasn't barred near the eating places. All in all Bulgaria was great value for a family holiday.
BOOTCAMP IN THE SUN!!!
from sunnytina
Ok, so we went with open minds as we had never been to bulgaria before. We had read some VERY mixed reviews but now i am going to tell you the truth: 1, the hotel overall is ok. rooms good size, modernish bathroom however cleaner did not do her job and on several occasions left the door unlocked!!! 2, Lotation is good, less than 5 mins walk to beach and away enough to not be disturbed by the nightlife. 3, staff are AWFUL, never met as many grumpy people in my life. everything seemed like to much trouble! didnt speak great english and when they did they were rude and not helpful in the slightest! 4, Rules around the pool for drinking are ridiculous, there are 2 bars and a small shop. god forbid that you bought a drink from the shop and sat round the pool on the table and chairs. Each bar had designated seating arrangments, so basically you cant buy a drink from one bar and sit metres away on another plastic table otherwise the staff would shout and move you!! also drink prices were varied if you ever p****d them off they went up. all in all bulgaria is agood cheap holiday destination, but would NEVER stay at the polyusi again!!!!
Great place!

After reading the previous reviews we wasn't sure what to expect for our fist visit to Bulgara and Polyusi. We arrived at Polyusi on a hot sunny day to be welcomed by a friendly and smiling member of the reception staff and a young porter. Thoughout the 2 weeks we were there, we found all the staff to be helpful and friendly. The apartment was spacious and clean and the cleaning lady always greeted us with a smile. Our only complain was we couldn't always get a sunbed in the sun! Many of the sunbed either started in the shade or ended in the shade (pool by the apartments), and as usual there is always someone who gets up early to reserve the best beds!! We would definately go back to Bulgaria and would be happy to stay at Polyusi again.
Never Again
from IrelandJojo
this is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. The staff with the exception of one girl called Mary were the most unfriendy & unhelpful people i have ever met. The manner of the staff was unbelievable & had to ask our rep to transfer us to another hotel as a lot of the guests including ourselves suffered a lot of abuse from one guest and the hotel refused to do anything about it. Got transferred to Sunny Dreams staff wonderful couldn't help you enough and food was great
2nd time around

Hi went back to sunny beach to the same hotel as in 2006. The hotel has been greatly improved with a new apartment block and extra swimming pool and the hotel itself has been done up, new bathrooms etc. all types of food is available around the pool ie chinese, indian, italian, bbq, grill you just as the stafff and they bring it to you. the price is a bit steep but a 10min walk away and you can get food half the price. The owner of the hotel is not a very pleasant man who never spoke to anyone whilst we were there and in fact cancelled happy hour because some damage had been done by a group of lads there. but we all went out earlier so he suffered in the long run. Sunny beach is a pleasant place with 100's bars, etc., cheap.too. we found bars that sold lager for 0.80,0.89 and l lev. We were told about D'jannys beautiful food and cheap too and the bar next door to the condor supermarket is a real bulgarian cafe/restaurant and is dirt cheap. we had 6 large beers/6 vod/cokes and 2 meals for 19 levs. weather hit 26 degrees but it was cool at night and it rained twice thru the night and 2 showers. hubby wants to go again in 2009 caus we met some nice people wo go every year but if we do we will try another hotel have been recommended the Kalina Gardens as it is more central.
Brilliant
from scottishlass01
Just came back on Saturday 31st May 2008 from the Polyusi hotel, sever yug, Sunny Beach. We had a brilliant time. We were B&B. Breakfast i thought was great, Sausages, Scramble Egg, Fried Egg, Cakes, Cheeses, rolls, bread, Juice, fruit and Cereal, all very nice, although tea not that great but hey, not a big deal. The hotel was spotless, always cleaners everywhere. We didnt pay for sunbeds or air conditioning, which was great. Sunbeds get put away at 6 o'clock at night and also if towels are left for more than an hour on beds but nobody there, they will take your towel off, which i thought was great, especially in the summer. Bulgarian prices have went up since last year, like beer in this hotel was 3 lev, which is £1.30 but down the road it was 2 lev, still not expensive but ive been to bulgaria six times now and ive noticed a huge difference but still cheap. I plan to go back to same hotel next year as it was friendly the staff were brilliant and it was clean and tidy and central for everything, i flew with firstchoice and got my daughter free. My partner and i got B&B for 2 weeks in may for £594.00, we werent expecting such a lovely hotel for our money, so we were very pleasantly surprised. Enjoy. Zena
im just back for bulgaria i stayed in polyusi appartments the rooms were clean we had clean towels and beding changed regularly and room was cleaned everyday the staff are very nice and very helpful i will be going bk there next year
