I have holidayed in most european resorts and feel that when reviewing the hotel it is only fair to consider what the cost was and what the expectations were, based on the brochure or travel agents advice. Thomson described this hotel perfectly. We arrived on a Monday... more

Where do I start ? We had been looking forward to our holiday all year. Spotted good reviews on the Green Anatolia, in Ovacik, and booked on a half-board basis. All's well so far. But as we arrived at Dalaman airport we were greeted with a sealed envelope. On reading the... more

Beautifull place, hotel nice, food unedable!
Me and my boyfriend found our stay at Destina an average one. Mananger kept having a go at us for staying up past 11, staff were nice but sometimes too in your face kissing your hand at every oportunity even when in the middle of eating your food. Manager once got shaving cream and tried to shave somones head in the resturaunt, put anyone off there food. We went for two weeks, first week food was good as not many people were there, second week the hotel was full food went downhill!! some nights the thought of eating would make me feel sick, it was constantly chicken and fish, nothhing done to them just plain chicken and fish. Souroundings were beautifull and hotel itself was very nice, bar could of been open more 11am till 11pm which was a bit early for many of us. Best parts of the trip was quad biking i would recomend it to anyone, great day out, boat trip was okay but more of a sun bathing trip, jeep safarii i would also recomend and this little cafe 2 minutes from the hotel they will make you a full english anytime of the day even two in the morning when youve had enough of the food there lol. Do not touch any of the dogs there my friend i was there with got biten and its dangerous because these are stray dogs. All in all great holliday okay hotel.
great for the price
great hol, great staff, top hotel, how people moan for what they pay i just dont get, loved it,thanks to all the staff, the pool was fab and clean
a small hotel with such scope give it a chance
my husband and i have just returned after a 9 nite break at the destina hotel.. after reading the horror stories i was dreading it... however,,, the hotel is set in a very very picturesque area the views are simply stunning,,... the gardens in the hotel were beautiful..... and the pool was so blue the hotel room are very basic but very comfy,,, i mean to say all u want your room for it to sleep and change and chill and they were fine... everyone had a small balcony with two chairs and a table. the food was simple.... they are into chicken alot but with it being a muslim country remember pork isnt a big fav on the menu... we found therewas always sumthing we liked on the menu .. theres plenty of salads and the desserts are so nice....... esp the portfitorls yummyy... drinks are nice and cold... and i dont think they water them down.. the staff were all friendly.... reception girl was working so hard everyday,,, manager was a nice guy always friendly waiters,,,, they were loverly....... and our rep leanne was a loverly girl my opion on this hotel is its a cheap break away....... and what u pay for you get,, its such a loverly place to stay with the town of hisarouni been a ten min walk with lots of bars shops cafe etc etc... i think u should give it a chance.. this is the first year the hotel is an all british hotel. and i will return
pool good music boom boom boom
we went to the destina for two wks on the 4th may its the first time to turkey,it wont be the last but it wont be to the destina.......food salad good .if you like chicken(witch i do)but not twice aday everyday, rooms small but tidy, staff ok except the guy at pool bar who kept putting rave music on at a deafening level even though av age of residense was 50 plus.thomas cook rep leanne was EX.
Your destination shouldn't be the Destina, although it isn't that bad!
One good thing about this hotel is the staff. They are very helpful and polite. The downside is about everything else. It's so bog standard it takes your breath away! The food, now I have a feeling the chef is quite good, but he's on such a limited budget he can't succeed. If you love chicken this hotel is for you. If you're looking for variety, don't bother going! Breakfasts are dull. Can't comment about lunch because we didn't stay in. Dinner was just so repetative, only one choice more often than not and that choice was....CHICKEN!!!! Rooms small but fine. Air conditioning worked -a boon. The bathroom was so small you couldn't swing a manx cat. Only a shower and no plug for the sink! The pool was nice. Fine, no problem there, although no towels. Drinks again very limited - vodka, gin or just one other spirit. Wine undrinkable (freezing cold red wine or something yellow that should have been white wine). Beer seemingly OK. They offer a free bus down to the beach daily. Ali the driver was always in a good mood. For the price we paid I can't argue that we paid for what we got - not much!
A bad ex[eroemce
Arrived at 6 pm after delayed transfer ( minibus driver insisted on waiting an hour for 2 more passengers from delayed flight).By the way, watch out for the extortionate prices at airport). Once in room manager phoned to say come down & talk to him - very friendly we thought, perhaps a personal welcome & tour? No, just to say Medlife hotels who it was booked through had gone bust so we must pay again - but this time at a higher rate than the original booking. He was obviously taking full advantage of our misfortune. Went in for dinner to consider the situation - all the reviews about the food are true by the way.Stayed 1 night and begrudgingly gave the slimeball the £50 he was asking. We moved to a cheap 2* called the Happy hotel lower down and they were really nice there, collecting our cases for us, etc. Realising my wife had left a new pair of jeans at the Desina we returned to ask for them but they had mysteriously dissappeared. We kept returning and bothering them, and the maid eventually conveniently found them again. I'm really glad we moved. Didn't fancy that place at all - Dodgy food, unpleasant manager, and a long hike back uphill from the town.
we were looking forward to visiting the destina hotel ha ha
we were so looking forward to visiting the destina it looked so nice on the pictures we found. we had been in this area of turkey before so we thought we couldn't go wrong. on arriving at the hotel the manager came and introduced himself, very nice fella and took us to the splendid view from the restaraunt. it was amazing second to none. we were escorted to our room and plonked the luggage down so we could investigate. the hotel had advertised a fridge, hair dryer, tele and saftey deposit box. nothing there. we went to reception and was told we could move into another when some more guests moved out in a couple of days. mean time we carried our valubles round in our bag(NOT GOOD) we went in for dinner starving from our trip and was very disappointed with the food, no british food at all and very bad turkish food. no toaster on a morning for toast and the usual turkish breakfast of boild eggs and salad. lunch and dinner was the same plenty of choice in salads and three hot dishes of what looked neither turkish or british. snacks that were advertised at 3pm was never seen and the cakes at fivepm were hard shortbread. we asked the manager if it was possible to have scrambled egg on a morning and was delighted when the next day they were there. but only that once. we asked for a few chips and they were there but gone half way down the line of people waiting never to be seen again. the rooms were clean and staff polite. the pool bar was dirty and the sink terrible, british pubs would be shut down for less. we were moved rooms and did get a safe but the fridge never turned up and the hairdryer arrived as we were leaving. do yourself a favour and stay we spent our money on taxi's and meals out.
Nice Hotel with some downsides!
My partner and I stayed at the Destina on the 19th July for 1 week...After reading the only review I could find we were a bit worried as to what to expect. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff and taken straight to our room. First impressions of the room okay, a bit small but very clean. We arrived early in the morning so had a little sleep then went for breakfast!!! Travelling through the night we were quite hungry and were looking forward bacon and eggs!!! Ummm..Eggs yes (hard boiled only!) nothing else but bread, cheese and a concoction of meze salads! Yummy..I think not! We left as hungry as we went in. Lunch, Well if you like Turkish food then you will be fine. Again meze of salads with a selection of 2 hot meals. Again we didnt really like any of it so ended up eating out for that too. Dinner, much the same as lunch. Again ended up eating out for that too...all in all not a cheap all inclusive holiday. The food when we ate it was really nice so if you aint to fussy or like to try new things you will be fine. The pool is lovely. Very big with lots of sun loungers (not many germans so we didnt have to play the towl game!) The pool bar opens at 11am abd yes the music is loud all day playing the same tracks over and over again. We are both 25 so the music didnt bother us much. Drinks are ok although you only have a choice of Vodka, Gin, Raki or beer and all the usual soft drinks. I must say we did not get even tipsy once so I am wondering if they water there drinks down??? Room service everyday with pretty towl art left by the maid. Hisaranou is only a 10 minute walk down hill where there are loads of shops, bars and reasturants. Oludinez is a 10 minute walk the other way to catch a 5 minute bus ride! The road is too dangerous to walk all the way! The beach is at Oludinez and well worth a look although we werent very impressed by the blue lagoon! A bit over rated I think? The 12 Islands boat trip is really good and worth every penny!!! (we went with Carole and Turfans tours) The All inclusive did finish when we checked out on the Friday at 11am. You can pay for anything after that but i do feel that it is a con because you expect it all day! If only one of your party checks out you may get round this for drinks as they wont be able to cut of your wristband!!!! All in all worth the visit and loved Turkey. Would deff go back but for obvious reasons with the food would not stay at he Destina again. I would rate this hotel as a 3 star and no more.
music from hell
this hotel certainly does not cater for the age range of the average guest - constantly during the day they pump out heavy techno, hiphop, trance music so loud it drives you crazy. Some of the songs contain foul language - not advisable for kids to hear. Then occassionaly they play the spice girls WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE maybe 10-15 times in a day - just to really wind you up !!! i would never recommend this hellish experience to anyone - unless they take a pair of pliars with them to cut the wires of the sound system and sack the man in charge of the music. absolutely worst holiday experience of my life.
Watch out for the last day if AI
23/6 -30 June Booked as a last minute break 2 days before departure, travellers being two mid 40's Welsh who have been to the area 10 times between us. Up in the mountains so cooler tha Hisaranou & Oludeniz & with SPECTACULAR mountain views. We went All Inclusive as thought this would save money. The hotel is essentially for Turkish short break holidaymakers so the food was locally biased but with little european alternatives. Fab pool, friendly helpful staff and clean rooms with daily maid service and some unexpected towel art. Only there for a week but Ozan, Animations supremo, who arrived the same day as us, introduced pool volleyball, aerobics & darts competitions within days - top guy. Had a great time but when we wanted to go 'off site' we found the journey to Hisaranou (all STEEP downhill) was too far too walk at this time of year so taxis were in order which were roughly £5 per way. These trips suddenly added substantially to the cost. Night time entertainment was non-existant & the AI ended @ 23.00 so it was back 2 the room & play some games on the Nintendo DS on the balcony. If you go All Inclusive be aware that that you have to vacate the room & check out by 12.00 and thereafter you pay for EVERYTHING, our transfer wasn't till 21.45 so we ended up spending an additional £50 on drinks & food that we didn't expect, soured the end of the holiday a bit. (Not sure if you vacated the room but DIDN'T check out until just before you left you would have got round this, didn't think of this at the time as presumed that as we arrived on Tues morning the final Monday would be AI) In conclusion, lovely hotel but go B&B & take some spirits 2 put in the room fridge & build in additional budget for trips to Hisaranou/Oludeniz. and possibly the last day if you go AI
