We booked hotel gonzaga through an accomodation only supplier. The cost for two of us bed and breakfast for two nights was around £150 which was the cheapest hotel we could find as near to central milan as possible. It had an excellent location. Although you had to use the underground metro to get into central milan; the underground station was just minutes away from the hotel and took less than ten minutes and just 3 euros per person return. You definatly save money by staying just out of the centre of the city and using the underground to get there. Also, the central station is just minutes away from the hotel. This is great if you are using the bergamo airport bus transfer which works out at just 16 euros per person return and takes around fifty minutes. It collects you from bergamo airport every thirty minutes and takes you straight to milan central station. Just cross the street from the coach drop off, turn right, then look left and you will see the Gonzaga. The Gonzaga is on the third floor of an office block but do not let this put you off. The room was very spacious and clean. You have lots of towels which are replaced each day if used, extra pillows, a television with sky (although most channels are Italian!), clean full bathroom with a powerful shower. The maids clean your room every day, even if you are staying more than one night they still come in and make the beds and sweep up. The room also has a reasonably priced minibar in the room with drinks and snacks in and an electronic safe box which is free of charge to use. Although you do experience some traffic noise it isn't unbearable, and as we were visiting a city, we knew it is to be expected. There is a 24 hour reception which was good for us as we did not check into our room until midnight. Some staff members are pleasant, however the majority of staff are quite ignorant and do not speak any English. This wasn't a major deal to us however, be aware of this as some guests might feel uncomfortable with the unfriendliness. The breakfast is definatly adequate for the money paid. The first day we went to breakfast at around 9.30am and there were still bread rolls, jams, cakes, croissants, cereals, cheese, ham, pastries and juice left out. The pleasant receptionist even offered us a choice of tea or cappuccino! Again, the next morning after a wake up call from reception which they also offer, we took breakfast around 8am and again there was the same plentiful food available. Although the website states the hotel has a left luggage room, you can leave your luggage in the hotel reception area after you check out, however it isn't very safe. Overall, my mum and I had a very memorable trip in Milan and for the money we paid we definatly thought it was worth it! We recommend Hotel Gonzaga for guests with a budget who are not to fussed about traffic noise!
