Very hotel and brilliant skiing.

After reading past reports on the hotel (2009) I was a little apprehensive as to what I would find. I had a pleasant surprise and all I can say the hotel must have improved considerably since last year. Rooms were spacious and clean and meals were more than adequate. Breakfast consisted of two flavours of yoghurt, fruit, ham and cheese, fresh rolls, croissants, juice and a choice of tea or coffee. Dinner was three courses - I chose mainly soup which was very good but pasta was also an option. Main course was varied and vegetables were supplied and there was a choice of cold sweets. You could order tap water - we also had house wine at each meal. Lounge was spacious and pleasant. Staff were friendly too.
Of course skiing was brilliant with plenty of snow. This is our third trip to Cervinia and I would definitely recommend this hotel and resort to my friends.

On arrival we thought what a fabulous location! Gorgeous town with everything within easy reach. Plenty of great bars restaurants and really wonderful atmosphere. The hotel offered good facilities and we couldn't wait for dinner being three hungry skiers.
Sadly, It didn't take long to realise the Chef at the Hotel Breuil is either on a tight budget per head or is stockpiling the food!! We were put on a starvation diet but a ski holiday isn't the time or place to start one...............
The Chef was obviously better at preparing pasta as it was ok as a starter. However, the meagre portion of the main course was poorly cooked, lacking in flavour and often stone cold. Dessert if not eaten appeared the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day for breakfast!!!!!!!!! Another rip off is getting charged to use the hotel facilities such as the steam room, sauna etc. at 15 euros its a rip off.Consequently the facilities were always empty but heated ready for use. (Bad business practice) eh?
Beer is extortionate at 6 euros a pint in the hotel bar.
When out and about check your change. Especially in the Hotel Des Guides we got change for 10 euros - it was quite deliberate - we gave the guy 20 euros.
Check out all the passes online as you can save a lot of money purchasing them as opposed to the reps selling the most expensive ones. As a beginner I hardly used the ski lifts but still got ripped off full price of £190!!! A day pass may prove much cheaper.
The reps can be indifferent when discussing the poor food, lift passes, and hotel facility charges. All they say is 'no one else has complained' (who are they working for) why would they be bothered though another plane load arrives every week!

The hotel was lovely, rooms were nice and staff were very efficient HOWEVER all there was for breakfast was cornflakes, plain yoghurt, cake and fruit! I wouldn't call that a continental breakfast. NO eggs, (1 1/2 euros each!) no ham, no cheese and no toast.I think dinner was made at lunchtime and warmed up (if you can call it that) in the evening. On two occasions the vegetables were adctually stone cold. The variety is also poor. Shrivelled up cold peas one night!
We thought we couldnt go wrong ordering a omelette for dinner....it was coldand looked and felt like a cold peice of rubber. Yuk, this hotel needs to improve its food or its going to lose a lot of future customers......... We certainly won't be going back.

Good Position/Very Comfortable Rooms
9 / 10
Jan 2009, M&J

The Hotel was in a very convenient position for the chairlift and very easy to go to the Gondola to take you to Plan Maison - Excellent views from the rooms over the mountains and the ice rink - even has a small balcony. Rooms were spotless and bathroom looked very new. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food was waiter served with a choice of three starters and three main meals. One of the starters was always a very generous portion of pasta and sauce. Main meals were generally good and some I would say were excellent. Choice of dessert from the dessert table. Slopes are excellent and the lift system was brill - only had to go on one drag lift.

The hotel Breuil is situated in a reasonably convenient location in the town with access to the slopes (Shops & bars) not being too far. The rooms have recently been done up but aren't anything spectacular (Although the bathrooms are pleasant).
The breakfast is continental with a choice of cereal, yoghurt or ham and cheese with bread. Milk and water are supplied but no juices. You can have a hot meal but have to request, and pay an additional fee (Even if you're half-board).
The evening meals were quite bland and repetitive, and apart from the pasta starters most of the main courses didn't come with sauces or vegetables (Just meat/fish and potatoes).
The meals are all meant to be served with a mixed salad but we noticed that they have a couple of bowls that do the rounds. If one of the other tables hasn't finished with theirs then you'll probably get missed out.
The lounge area is pleasant enough but as the drinks are more expensive than any of the pubs/bars we visited we tended to drink off the premises instead (Try not to charge your drinks to your room). It is also worth noting that the last orders at the bar is eleven o'clock.
Apart from Eleanor (The barmaid) most of the staff seemed quite aloof and disinterested which seemed to be contangious, as our Rep too seemed to be going through the motions.

Nice friendly hotel but a little...

Nice friendly hotel but a little caught up in a time warp. No internet access and dated decor makes it feel a bit like an 80's hotel. However the staff are very friendly.
Hot breakfast available at an extra charge. Water with evening meal available at an extra charge. Sauna/Jacuzzi area available at an extra charge of 15 Euros per person per hour, which I think is a bit much.
Rooms are quite spacious and obviously recently done up. We had a fantastic view of the Matterhorn in one direction and the snow park/ice rink in another. Good choice of après ski, although you find out this from the First Choice Rep who was totally useless. The brochure tells you there is lots to do, but the rep doesn't know where any of it is or how to book it up!
Skiing was totally amazing and we were a family of novices - but not now. Don't think the area lift pass would be value for money as the Swiss part of the pass couldn't be used for 4 days out of 7 due to snow conditions!! Much better to buy a Swiss pass on the day for 27 euros. Bit of a trek to lifts to main beginner’s area (all up hill and steps). But we found out that at Plan Maison you can pay 3 euros and lock your skis and boots there overnight. Shame the rep didn't tell us sooner!
Would go back again and recommend to all but groups of 18-21 year olds.
