We booked a 4 day break Mon - Fri, we arrived to book in with no problems. Booked a bronze caravan as we had the pooch with us, well we were really pleased with what we had been allocated, the caravan was way above what I would class as a bronze, was nipping clean, all the... more

Gold caravan. Fairly clean by the usual GB site standards we have come to expect. Though the bin looked manky. Really basic level of equipment for a "gold" caravan e.g no jugs, grater, clocks etc. No "little touches". Not even a bread bin - doesn't bother me as not there to... more

Great for short break out of season
Booked 3 night weekend with Tesco vouchers in April 2010. After booking, read the terrible reviews and did not have high hopes but was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff in reception, shop and kids entertainers. Caravan (2 bed Gold) was brand new in June 2009 and was clean, spacious and well equipped. Site was clean & tidy and 5 min walk from golden sandy beach. Downsides were noise on Fri night until 1am from people walking back from club. Sat night was much quieter and Sun night was deserted. Site was only about a third full, but no chairs in the club on Sat night by 7.30pm. Can guess how busy it gets in the summer holidays and facilities not really big enough for the numbers of vans on site. Would go again in early or late season, and the area and coastline are beautiful. 30 mins from Alnwick Garden & Castle.
Happy Holiday?
Mon. Aug. 10th: We arrived at 5pm and checked in to van number 39 (Paddock). We found that the TV had only one channel and a remote which had nothing to do with that TV! We also tried the gas fire, but it wouldn’t light. We went to reception and were told that our complaints would be passed on and remedied the next day. Tues. Aug. 11th. After a day out, we returned at 4.30pm to find that nothing had been done. We returned to reception, who had no knowledge of our complaints. We repeated our complaint along with the fact that the oven did not work. Two maintenance men came to the caravan. They checked the TV aerial (No difference), lit the fire with a match, but said that both the fire and the oven would be reported to gas safe approved workers. We were promised a visit by the holiday sales manager the next day. That night I made a list of other concerns about the state of the caravan and left the list on the table. Wed. Aug. 12th: A site manager came to visit at 10 am. I showed him our main complaints and he also looked at my other concerns: 1. Black mould on the shower curtain. 2. Same mould on the kitchen curtain and lounge nets. 3. No light bulb in the bedroom strip light. 4. Dirty bedroom walls. 5. Bedroom and bathroom doors not shutting. 6. Freezer making noise all night (In need of defrosting). He assured us that the mould was not of the poisonous spore variety! We were assured that the list of complaints would be rectified that day. We arrived back at 5pm. We found that my written list had been removed! We had a new shower curtain, a light bulb and two loosened doors. Nothing else had been done about the TV, fire, oven and other dirty areas of the caravan. We went to the office and were told that nothing could be done until Thursday, (We were only booked in until Friday!) We were given a voucher, signed by the park manager for two free meals. However, that night, when we tried to order food at 8.50 pm, we were told that the kitchen was closed and that there were notices up to inform us of this. It took many angry words and 15mins for someone to realise that there were no such notices,” Removed by children “, was one suggestion. Eventually we were given two pizzas and an unappetising portion of chips. Thurs. Aug 13th: Although we had paid for another night, we decided that we had had enough, left early and drove home. Avoid this site if possible!
