NEVER AGAIN

We have just had a holiday at the towers what a joke we have allways gone with a standard caravan so we thought for a change we would go for a gold one . When we first walked in the carpet hit our eyes filthy there where so many things missing to cook with one plug to use between 3 sinks the shower smelt the duvet was so thin we had to use the single one as well because the heaters were a joke all they were good for was drying a towel. We are pensioners there was nowhere to go in fact we came home early we were so fed up never again . I don't normaly swear but it was (crap)

Sep 2011, Dunnies

Have just returned from a 4 day break to Cresswell Towers holiday park, and having read some of the reviews on this site, felt we should post one.
Lovely park in a beautiful area. Caravan spotless and very comfortable. First holiday with our 2 year old and our own travel cot broke, staff provided us with a new one straight away and were friendly and helpful during our stay.
Pool was also very good, next time will make more use of it.
Would definitley go back and happily recommend park to our friends.

me,my partner and my 3 children aged 17 and twins aged 9 went 2 creswell tower to see about staying at a caravan in 2012.we had a look around the site witch seemed really nice then we went to the park and bar 2 see what it was like only to be refused a soft drink at the bar because we didnt stay or own a caravan.we were really angry at the bartender as she told us this in a bar full of people.we were staying at sandybay caravan site which is owned by park resorts which creswell towers is also owned by park resorts.my partner tried to explain this to the bartender but she said she didnt care where we were staying creswell tower is a seprate site. me ,my partner or my three children will never go back again.please do not try to book up at this site as you will feel very unwelcome, and very angry.

Jul 2011, bad times

myself my partner and my 2 kids 1 aged 13 ,1 aged 15 arrived for a weekend break at cresswell towers holiday park ,apart from miserable staff in office who didnt greet us with a smile but with a angry face telling us our accomodation wasnt ready no apology given ,however we overlooked this as my 15 year old had already been offered to join in the football with some of the teenagers and the setting was beautiful although the park could maybe do with a but of a makeover ,i got in caravan cleaned it myself as it was scruffy, however again I overlooked this as both my kids were happy,When I managed to get my 15 in after many games of tennis foot ball,we all got changed and looked forward to our big night out in the club. On approach to the club we were horrified to see bouncers on the door looking very menancing and not freindly what so ever, no smile when we approached we actually felt like turning around,,, we left the club early this night as entertainment was well below average and there no freindly atmosphere inside .The following day the kids had a lovely day made loads of friend with the resident teenagers ,and me and my partner were really conidering buying... That night we thought its saturday night we will give the club anotherchance ,on approach to the doors of the club same response from the big bouncers, we came out early again as entertainment was just as poor, and were horrified to here the bouncer shouting and swearing ,and intimidating 1 of the younger lads that my boy had been playing football with that day.The use of the english language of this bouncer was very limited and most certainly not to be used on a holiday park. we were told the following day by several owners that this normal behavior from the doormen and that they had actually physically pushed and shoved people in the past , and teenagers are not really wanted on this site ,so the terrible looks i was getting at the bouncers when i walked in were obviosly because I had
teenager s,! So sad as my sons had such lovely time with these boys now we just have to keep looking for the caravan site we need ,,all this site need is a change of staff and this site would be exactly what we need!!!!!

  • Advice: If you have teenagers they are not made welcome by staff at Cresswell

We booked a 4 day break Mon - Fri, we arrived to book in with no problems. Booked a bronze caravan as we had the pooch with us, well we were really pleased with what we had been allocated, the caravan was way above what I would class as a bronze, was nipping clean, all the utensils and gadgets you would need, only negative was there was no DVD player as promised, but to be fair do you really need a one? Site was really quiet, well kept and friendly staff, little on site shop was reasonably priced and stocked for basics, etc. Can't comment on the retaurant or the bar as we never needed to use them. The pool was great for kids of all ages and unlike some other reviews we found the temp in the water fine. Location, location, location....what a spot, cresswell village itself is pretty, but the beach is beautiful, and only 5 mins walk away. Overall I would return and recommend the site to anyone. There are some older caravans on site, but as many of them are owned you would expect that, but you can see that many are being removed and upgraded.
Northumberland is a beatiful part fo the UK, the park is a great base to explore it.

i checked this park on here before we arrived and was concerned but we found the Staff friendly, caravan good and very clean, not the biggest holiday park but very well maintained, i reckon they must have several thousand people through that place every year, so a few bad comments on here is not the end of the world, you can't please everyone all the time but they sure did please me and my kids. would recommend the place to family and friends.

Worst Holiday Ever

Upon arrival the caravan wasnt ready, we had to wait 3hrs before we could get into the caravan, with a toddler who had been sick on the journey and needed to be washed!
Upon booking the holiday I had booked and payed for a travel cot, it wasn't there. When somebody did bring it up there wasnt any room to put it and it had to be built up from scratch!
The caravan site was very boring with little entertainment and the pool was very basic. The food was awful, it was all microwave meals, you could taste that and the floors were very dirty in the dining area!
The caravan was FREEZING! My poor one year old came down very sick with the flu due to the cold and we had to leave two days early! One of the rooms had a vent on the floor which you could see the grass through!...We had two duvets and a blanket and we were freezing, it was a disgrace!
We had to go for miles in the car to reach a town to go for something to eat! There was nothing in the village apart from an icecream shop! People were walking about looking so bored!
I asked for a refund on the travel cot as we didn't use it or bring it out the box and they refused to give us a refund! It was a holiday nightmare and would never go back to it

Beautiful area, shame about the punters!

Gold caravan. Fairly clean by the usual GB site standards we have come to expect. Though the bin looked manky. Really basic level of equipment for a "gold" caravan e.g no jugs, grater, clocks etc. No "little touches". Not even a bread bin - doesn't bother me as not there to cook but could see how it might bother you if there for a week as family of 4 type thing.
Absolutely gorgeous area. Very quiet surrounds and the coast road/Druridge bay area is delightful - the only reason we use the site. Wouldn't touch the rest of it.
Security really need to clamp down hard. A lot of the punters on site are unattractive chavs at the best of times. Having their pubescent off-spring contantly congregating outside the only entrance to the club/restaurant/pool area is extremely off-putting. And the noise at night the weekend we stayed here was unbelievable. Actually, as a female-only family - scary.
Will probably use again as love the area. But so wish I could afford elsewhere!
