Ruda Holiday Park

We stayed at this site ona £9.50 each Sun Deal. I ventured there with much intrepedation but soon forgot all my worries. We had a great 3 bed caravan that was spotless. Caravans were very close together, but in October I wasn't going to sit outside anyway. The beach is just across the lane, a stroll away and is one of the best surfing beaches in the South West. Glorious sand and plenty of rock pools. I have been to Croyde many times in the past as a young free and single type, camping and bodyboarding and it has a very young vibe. The beach is golden and expansive but is teeming with surfers in the summer. We did buy entertainment passes but wished we never bothered. You do get a discount on entry fee to the swimming pool with them, but you can still pay full price without and you would have to swim about 8 times over the weekend to get your monies worth. We didn't do the Bingo/cabaret thing on the night as that's not us. We stayed in, took a DVD player and just chilled. The site was very quiet with a good sized play area at the top of the site with swings, climbing frames etc. The bin service was great. Collected continually throughout the day and providing you with black sacks. The quilts and pillows provided were freshly laundered and it was a real pleasure staying in a caravan. We have booked to go back this Spring, can't wait.

Having spent the bank holiday week at Ruda, I would recommend the park. We stayed in a caravan which was very clean, 3 bedrooms and fair size kitchen and lounge area. The park is clean and rubbish is collected from the caravans very 10 minutes or so (to avoid seagulls!). Location is great just a short walk to the beach at Croyde and the wonderful surfing/body boarding. The site has a good indoor pool facility for the kids and residents get discount, the shop is pricey and has a a wide variety of things to buy. The club at night was OK, the entertainment was poor and repetitive. The drinks were very expensive = £2.60 for a pint of lager! The Exmoor pub on-site was good value for food but get there early as tables are taken up quickly. Campers beware though, you can't just turn up on spec as you have to book in advance. Would recommend it for young families.
