We stayed at Maria Studios in Paleo in June this year (2008). We had a great holiday!!!!
This was our third visit to this resort, so we knew what to expect, but our first stay at Maria Studios. The apartments were by far the best we have experienced in Paleo, clean, bright and well maintained. The apartments are set behind "Faros Pool Bar" which is run by the famous Yiannis (a lovable greek nutter) and his lovely wife Katerina. They both work very hard with the running and upkeep of the place, they are backed up by Spiro and Maria (Yiannis mum and Dad) and a few very friendly and polite members of staff. The food in the bar is very good. Don't miss the barbecue on Saturday night, when you will see Yiannis and his family giving a floor show of greek dancing.
There is a supermarket very close by, which also has a money exchange. There are also a couple of cash machines in Paleo. The nearest beach is only about five minutes walk and another one about twenty minutes down to the main beach in the port.
As for Paleo itself, we have travelled around the island quite a few times now, and Paleo is still the most beautiful resort, it's the kind of place to go if you need to chill out completely, no noisy nightclubs to worry about here, but most of the bars play music, mostly in the background, which gives you plenty of time to talk to all the new friends you make during your stay. There are also plenty of places to eat out, try Paleo Inn next door.
Can't wait for our next visit.
