Nautic 'chill out' Hotel
from KarenCT5Kent
Having read many other reviews on this hotel on Tripadvisor, decided to book the Nautic Hotel. Understand that the hotel has undergone an extensive refurb over the last several months and has only recently been completed. Compared to other hotels in the area it does stand out to the usual run of the mill holiday abroad type hotels that British package holiday makers might be used to, the Nautic is very contemporary and modern. To be honest, it didn't really suit the many middle aged and elderly folk who were staying there and I know hotels are very grateful for any custom they may get, especially in quiet times of year, but I'm sure the refurb was so that they could get the attention of more single, trendy, professional people in their mid thirties who want to get away for a chilled week as a couple or group of friends as this hotel would definitely suit. The hotel certainly isn't suitable for families with small children. In the public areas, the refurb has been done to a very high standard with large chic, contemporary black & red leather sofas in the reception area, black slate tiles and white marble flooring and large chrome over reaching lighting. The bar area is stunning, all white tables and chairs, candles on the tables and good lighting over the bar but my only criticism would be that the bar is too overlit in the evenings so therefore appears cold and uninviting - looks too clinical for a bar at night. The lighting needs to be softer and more ambient to make more inviting. Not sure if they were energy saving bulbs but if they weren't then god knows how much the electricity bill must be! That way the hotel might draw in the crowds from within the hotel as well as others staying elsewhere. Also just need to rely on good music provided by CD or ipod or a DJ playing background music as the entertainment that's provided on the odd night doesn't go with the new hotel - too old fashioned and Butlins like. The roof top decking and swimming pool area is stunning and in the height of the season when the bar is open, would imagine it's a great place for hanging out day or night. The pool is small and just suitable for dipping. The sun loungers could do with some umbrellas for those who like a little shade when catching the rays as too hot. There is a small spa area in the basement, where for 4 euros you can make use of the steam room, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi and a relaxation room. They also offer treatments which you pay extra for. Most of the time it was underused but great to have at the hotel and makes this hotel especially attractive for a hen or birthday weekend. Now to the rooms. Compared to other hotels I have stayed at they were of a good standard, the beds were comfortable at least. At first sight the bathrooms look great but to be honest they could have taken out the old baths altogether instead of repainting the old ones as they spoil the overall look. No longer any need for baths in beach hotels so if the baths would have been taken out then there would have been enough space for a decent walk in shower or wet room type shower. Also more eco friendly. If you're going to have TVs in rooms then to go with the modern new look, the current old fashioned looking TVs could have been replaced with small flat screens. If you book this hotel, I would recommend room only or bed and breakfast as there are plenty of decent restaurants within walking distance to the hotel and should be sampled. One that I can recommend, which we used most nights is The Nogue's, which is just literally outside the main door of the hotel. The food was lovely, plenty of it, good menu and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I would recommend this hotel if prices remain at their current level, if the hotel gets reclassified and prices go up then if you get a good deal, a room with a sea view (they do have penthouses also which are lovely) then go for it. If you have a street side room then you'll be opposite an apartment block where the locals live - 4 of which have dogs and at least 3 of those dogs are small dogs who constantly yap in the mornings and evenings which can be really irritating. Can Pastilla itself is a surprising resort, first impressions are that it's a very built up area but it forms part of Playa del Palma and El Arenal but inspite of that, it's a nice quiet place and very relaxing at this time of year anyway, but you won't have to go far if you want a fun party night out either! At at 10 mins from the airport, it's very convenient. Also a short bus ride away to Palma itself which is a great place for proper retail therapy and also a night out so won't be expensive to get back if you miss the last bus! Can Pastilla is also a great resort to hire bicycles too so you can get out and about. Check out Purobeach which is an exclusive upmarket day spa and restaurant. For 40 euros you can hang out there for the day on gorgeous leather white sun loungers which surround it's own pool, have a massage in a cabana and watch the sun go down with a cocktail or two - you never know you might be sunbathing next to Kate Moss!! It also has it's own private jet at Palma airport in case you want to fly a load of mates out to join you! Purobeach is about 10 mins walk from the Nautic hotel and can imagine the sort of people who hang out at Purobeach, are the sort of people who'd want to stay at a hotel like the Nautic.
Good clean hotel very chic!
from Majorca2
We have stayed in Can Pastilla many times, but this was the first time at the Nautic. First impressions, WOW! On entering the hotel the reception area is very modern, all black and red leather, glass and stainless steel, very chic! We were given our room and again no complaints, the bathrooms are lovely and very modern with black slate and red granite, and sinks that float in the air! The room was average sized and faced the side road. This was ok, we had not paid the extra charge for sea view, but in hindsight if we were to again I think we would. Some of the rooms look out onto each other, in a small dark area below the pool area so we hadn't done too bad. After a night in this room we asked to be moved, not the hotels fault, but a yapping dog in an apartment opposite had kept us awake most of the night. We were moved to the other side of the hotel, with a parcial sea view. The rest of our 5 night stay passed too quickly! The pool area on the roof is stunning, and was almost always empty and we had it to ourselves. Plenty of silver sun beds anyway though. The pool bar was closed, maybe because it was a bit out of season? This didn't matter as all rooms have fridges so we used to take our own cold drinks up there. The spa in the basement is 4 euros to use, we didn't get round to using it but had a look round and it looked good, the outdoor jacuzzi especially. Now for the iffy bits, the food, though edible was always cold, with not much choice and very repetitive, breakfasts being the best meal of the day. I think if we had been staying any longer we would have been eating out! Some of the hotel looks like it has been rushed, tiles already coming off in the pool, wonky handles in the lifts, shower heads that don't stay up, but I have to say for the price we paid through alpha rooms, it was brilliant value for money and unusually for Can Pastilla the guests were mostly British! Would we return? Probably yes, as long as the prices stay low. If this is your first time in Can Pastilla, be sure to go on the train that runs down the front 3.5 euros return to Arenal. If you go on Thursdays you will find the large market, but beware this closes at 1pm. When you get to Arenal, get off the train and ask somebody where the market is, as it s tucked away up a hill, but only a few minutes walk and well worth it. Also try the Buckingham Palace Bar in Can Pastilla, run by Bob and Vicky, lovely friendly couple and Rickys Bar, where there is a free quiz every night at 10pm. Can Pastilla is gorgeous, and as this is my 6th time there I cannot fault the resort, although it could be too quiet for some. I can't understand the reviews where it says the beach is dirty, as it is swept every night and the streets and roads are clean. I have to say hello to Christaffy and mention whisky!Hope you had a great rest of holiday!
Great hotel, good location. Had a great relaxing holiday.
from JamesM0z
My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in this hotel. We used this website extensively (addictively?) prior to going and it resulted in finding this great spot so we felt obliged to add our bit. We have to say the reviews were accurate and it is a great place to stay. A great beach is directly across a small, single lane, quiet road and around the corner is another smaller beach. Both are shallow, warm and feel very safe and the smaller one really has no waves at all as it is in a little ‘bay’ shape between two marina areas so it seemed great for kids and adults too. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the recent full refurbishment means it’s a good time to go as although it’s not overly cheap currently the prices will probably go up when it’s get it’s 4* status (which it’s bound to). The design is completely modern (not ‘modern’ 15 years ago) with lots of dark wood and full height glazing. As can happen anywhere we got a dodgy taxi driver from the airport (it’s so convenient to the airport he wanted to run the meter up a bit more by pretending he didn’t know where the Can Pastille area was). As we passed the hotel (not recognising it) it really caught our attention and we commented to each other how nice it looked with the bright modern bar area and terrace which opens out to the road so we were pleased when we finally found it was our hotel. Our room faced a small road with a glimpse of the sea / marina so while it wasn’t the full sea view side it was fine. The hotel consists of two main blocks joined together so we could appreciate to have been in one of the rooms facing the inner gap between the two blocks would have been a little disappointing. However the rooms are all in a fresh modern design and clean so for us as we usually don’t spend a whole lot of time in the room it’s not a major issue. If you love sea views it probably is worth the extra money to upgrade although as you have the brilliant timber decked roof terrace at your disposal with excellent views and the beach is right outside I wouldn’t worry too much about it. The area is a bit quiet which was fine for us as we’d rather have it a little quiet than be next door to a nightclub. If you’re wanting lots of pubs and clubs I’d go elsewhere but if you want great beaches, nice walks a few pubs and 4 or 5 decent restaurants nearby then it’s good. The spa area was 4euro to use which although it’d be nice if it was included at least it meant it was quiet when we used it a few times. The spa treatments are reasonable too – we tried a full body massage which was 30euro for two people which beats Irish prices. Just a few negatives; The beds were quite hard and on metal frames under the valance, they were the only part of the room which didn’t feel new and luxury - to be fair this is maybe something they will replace when it’s completely finished. It was a little bit noisy at times – we faced a small rear road which had delivery / bin lorries most mornings at about 06.30 / 07.00. It didn’t go on for long so it didn’t really bother us. The breakfast trolleys and chairs being laid out at a similar time made quite noisy squeals at a similar time each morning but again it wasn’t enough to really annoy us but we thought we'd mention it. The food was fine but not exciting – we stayed half board and were able to move our evening meal to lunch a few times when we wanted to eat out for a change which was never a problem for the efficient staff. The positives of this place far outweigh any negatives so we’d recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic Hotel
from LuM-D
We have just returned form a week at the Nautic hotel, which I had booked partly because of the enthusiastic reviews on this site, and we were not disapointed. It is in an ideal position overlooking the beach, the roof top pool and bar are perfect and the room was fantastic. We were lucky to have a sea view room and I would reccomend anyone booking to go for this option as the other rooms look straight at a wall! The main bar downstairs looks fantastic and has a lovely terrace, it stayed pretty quiet all the time though (perhaps due to the ridiculously bright lighting?). The only downside to our whole experience was the food. We were staying half board, and though the breakfasts were ok, if a little repetitive, the evening meals were not up to standard. The food was often cold, the salad selection usually seemed to be leftovers from lunch with some mayonaise added and they served chips as the hot vegetable every night! This hotel is a real bargin at the moment, I am guessing that the prices will go up significantly next year as it is a great place to stay.
Gorgeous Hotel
from sarah3075
Had read a few of the other reviews on Trip Advisor so thought that we would give it a whirl for a relaxing week in the sun. The hotel really didn't disappoint - we paid a little extra for a sea view and it was really worth it. The Nautic is a lovely, modern hotel. The rooms were really comfortable and were cleaned daily. The staff were helpful and the check in times were great - 1pm check in and 12pm check out. The whole place is really gorgeous and I would say that it outperforms its 3 star status.
Great, some teething problems
from JonnyP
Just come back from this Hotel, booked with alpharooms, about £50 a night for a double, half-board for 2. The hotel looks great in it's new furnishings, there was still a bit of work going on here and there but we weren't disturbed. However there were a few things that were already showing signs of wear after what must be only a few months. Plaster was come out of bits of our room in places, a lot of the tiles had fallen out of the swimming pool about 10% of our bathroom ceiling was missing revealing all sorts of wires, pipes and brickwork. I'm sure these are just teething problems, otherwise the hotel was great. Great location, quiet at nights, great food, soft toilet-roll(!) and is an absolute bargain at the price we paid.
Relaxing and Friendly hotel
from Sandy031
Just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. I thought the hotel was really good with friendly staff both at reception and at bar/restaurant. I had booked a room with a sea-view as recommended by other reviewers and totally agree with them. Some of the standard views are very overlooked by other apartments where as our room had a lovely view of the harbour. Definately worth paying extra. We had full board - all buffet style. You basically find a table and then help yourself to food. To get drinks there is the 'head waiter' who is by a drinks fridge and you just go to him and pay him for them there and then. The food was good - i always found something I liked. It can be a little crammed but wasnt a huge problem. The pool is small but quite nice as it is roof top and it is surrounded by lovely decking and decent sun beds. It is really chilled out as most people go to the beach on your door step. We went to the spa in the hotel which is near enough completed. You can pay 4 euros per person and use the spa for 2 hours. There is a sauna, steam room and great jacuzzi/spa pool. I would recommend giving it a go as its never really used so we had it all to ourselves!! This was my first time to this area in Majorca - very touristy but you can expect that. Some lovely bars by the harbour for cocktails etc and a few english bars too. If you like to be active I recommend hiring some bikesas there are really good cycle paths and it is a great way to get around!!There is also a new Aquarium close by ( 20/30 minute walk) which was excellent. The only negative thing about the holiday was there seemed to be a lot of litter on the beaches/ sea. I guess you can expect this in busy tourist areas. Overall a fab chilled out hotel and holiday with lots of sunshine!!
Could be great... but it isn't
from Strakar
Náutic Hotel had been highly recommended by other travellers and the travel agent, so I decided to give it a try. It looks lovely, with a very modern style. The first impressions were great, but... then i was given the room key. Well, the following hour was hilarious. Firstly, it was impossible to find the room, since nobody had told me that there were two elevators. But this was nothing. When I was entering the room, I noticed it was... occupied! So I had to come down to the reception again and complain... For the night, I was given a lower quality room, but in the next morning I was upgraded to a sea-view room, which was very nice indeed. The cleanliness is highly acceptable and the staff are usually friendly. Regarding the meals, I could use some more choice, and the dining room was a bit cramped. Nevertheless, the food was not bad. The swimming pool is at the top and is very tiny!! Overall, it's a nice hotel, with lots of potential, since it resembles a 'design hotel' in a highly touristic area, being one of a kind. However, it's still highly disorganized, and the variety of the food is minimal.
LOVELY COOL MODERN HOTEL
from Pato28
Selected the Nautic because of the one positive review i read and thought, worth a punt. Booked through Sunmaster 3 days before and all travel etc was fine. Arrived 0030hrs, only 5 mins from Palma airport, walked into a lovely modern cool hotel lobby with a pleasant polite gentleman on the desk, what could go wrong? After handing over our hotel booking voucher he informed us that our rooms weren't ready as there were problems with the electric and water and we would have to stay the night in their sister hotel Los Arenas, this was around the corner but our room would be ready in the morning. Walked around to the other hotel to be greeted by another nice chap who was not surprised to see us and was told, you stay week with us, to which i replied , no way , we are going back in the morning, he gave the impression that we were going nowhere. The rooms we were given were small overlooking a sidestreet, my grandson had to sleep with his parents in a double bed as they had no triple rooms which i originally booked. After an uncomfortable night we had breakfast, handed in our keys to the surprise of the chap at the desk and marched back to the Nautic with our luggage and demanded our rooms politely but firmly. After a lot of discussion and our unwillingness to budge we got our rooms at 3/30pm, 1 triple and 1 double with sea views. Now the good bits, great hotel, good food, great facilities, polite and helpful staff, lovely area with safe beaches and shallow water . Apart from loosing nearly a day from our holiday it was great, but be warned, the Nautic will become a popular hotel and its not finished yet, and i'm sure the rooms we eventually got meant that some poor tourist did the march to the Los Arenas. We would go back though. Funny thing is the Nautic is 3 star and the Los Arenas 4, wrong way round.
Under classed
from GOA60
This is a superior 3 star hotel, not just a common 3 star as you can find in many places on Mallorca. The rooms are well furnished and the bathroom is large and well accessoried. Ceaness is ok and foods over the average of the class; good choice even for italian tourists. The staff is very kind and professional. The location is relaxig, close to the beach and to the airport , but I never had noise problems. Swimming-pool on the top, Iacuzzi-pool and a small but modern fitness room for the customers. Modern fornuture and relaxing ambiance.

Excellent hotel - just reopened after major refurbishment. Is a very good 3 star think it will be regraded to 4 star very soon. Excellent location 5 mins from airport and 15 metres from beach. The hotel has been decorated in a very modern style and the reception area is... more
