Club Hotel & Spa Reviews
" Had very high expectations of this... "
Submitted By: Miss J Martin
Had very high expectations of this hotel having read quite a lot of reviews - the check in was slow as the hotel was full and we were stood around for a while and told we could not check in until after three - never shown round the hotel with champagne as other people seem to have been but maybe this was because the staff were so busy. Room was what I would expect for £165 per night - however, only similar to Malmaison or Hotel de Vin standard and more expensive. Bohemia Bar is the ONLY decent place in St Helier which is not very good for a night out as the bars are very spread out around the town. Staff and service throughout the 4 days in the Bohemia could not be faulted in any way. Breakfast is Continental and I am afraid I simply cannot accept that to have a cooked breakfast would have cost a further £26 for 2 people - not worth it, Mini bar well stocked and not a total rip off - sat around the pool for half a day and no one complained that we had been sitting there for too long (cannot understand this 2 hour limit imposed around the pool). Honesty bar was popular in the evening with a nice mix of people. Never ate at the hotel as we travelled to St Aubins and St Brelades where there was much more choice of restaurants (would recommend the Boat House at St Aubins and also The Salty Dog) but did have a bottle of wine in the bar each night and it was not overpriced and they have a very good list to choose from. This hotel seems to be more suited to 'executive' business travellers, dont have a problem with this but for a holiday I would not stay here again. Had never been to Jersey before and it is a beautiful place but would stay at St Aubins, St Brelades or Corbiere if I return. Nothing wrong with the hotel - it does what it says on the box.
