Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
The Mehtap Hotel is located directly on the beautiful sandy beach of Marmaris, just 300 metres from the centre of the resort. Submitted By: Miss K ParkesThis is the friendliest place you could go to in the whole of the resort me and one of my friend became very close with these waiters and they are worth getting to know after they have finished their shifts they take you out to all the best spots in turkey all the best clubs and everything and in the day they are great fun I would say go to this hotel, it’s not the best but it’s in the right area for a fun holiday

Submitted By: Mr J Cooper-RobertsThe carpets were dirty, there was dirt on the walls, we didn’t have a phone, the television didn’t work and paying £45 for two weeks for the air conditioning is ridiculous.
The staff at Bacchus restaurant are the most arrogant and miserable I have ever met, especially the manager, small chubby one - who threatened to kick a member of our family’s head in because we were having fun.
If you want a boring holiday then go to this hotel, the people we were with made it the best though, especially with that loud speaker phone, I hope you all heard it.

Staff, fantastic friendly lots of English staff as well breakfast, great. Cleanliness, clean. Entertainment, very entertaining, pool shuts a bit early but they have a stage they pull over it at night for entertainment so I understand why.
Would love to go back have tried to book for this year but i left it a bit late and it's full so I will book early for 2007.

Submitted By: RodersHowever you can't beat the location - right on the seafront with fabulous views.
Rooms very comfortable, extremely clean and well equipped. Can be a bit noisy at night when the karaoke gets going.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful especially in the beach front restaurant where Ihsan and Oktay make you feel very welcome. Excellent choice of food all at very good prices.
I thoroughly recommend booking direct as the hotel will also arrange transfers to and from the airport for you.

" My summary of the Mehtap hotel.
... "
Before arriving at the hotel. I had unfortunately encountered a 10 hour delay at Manchester airport. As you can imagine I was extremely tired and cranky to say the least!
Upon entering the hotel the bell boy immediately helped my husband and I with our luggage whilst a friendly young welsh woman (the receptionist-whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) welcomed us to the hotel and made friendly conversation with us while offering tea to be sent to our room. (which as you can imagine after over a 24hr journey i was grateful for!!)
The cleaning service was amazing! I have never met such kind and friendly ladies before in all the places I have visited. They cleaned our room everyday without fail.
I was also very impressed with the breakfasts provided. Although they were not full English, the food was very fresh (serving watermelon, a variety of cheeses, egg, salami, salads etc) and the breakfast area very clean.
As me and my husband are elderly (both in our sixties) we wanted a quiet hotel with an excellent view of the surrounding scenery. We got exactly what we had paid for. Our view was amazing. We could have quite happily sat on our balcony for the entire holiday!
There was entertainment at the hotel every night from around 10pm until 12.30 or 1.00am. This is quite late but to be fair to the hotel, by this time every thing immediately went silent and if your balcony door is closed you really cant hear any of the music anyway.
The rooms their selves are, I personally think of a good standard. İ have been to Marmaris several times and not stayed in a hotel with rooms as nice as the Mehtap. The rooms even have hairdryers in the bathrooms ladies which is extremely convenient!
My husband and I would definitely recommend this hotel to people of all ages for several reasons; the standard of the hotel is good. The pool is of a good size which is rare in Marmaris. The staff (some of which are English-excellent bonus) are very friendly and interested in any problems you may have which again can be difficult to find in Marmaris. The cleanliness of the hotel is very pleasing and the meals are excellent at both the Chinese and international restaurant owned by the hotel with reasonably good prices.
We would definitely come back again.

Submitted By: Kristian KivellAs this was our first holiday together we wanted this holiday to be romantic. We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel staff had placed flowers and a small bottle of wine in our room.
We ate in both Bacchus and the red dragon (the two restaurants outside the hotel) and thoroughly enjoyed the meals provided at reasonably cheap prices! (they once cooked a meal for us at 1.30am!!!)
The reception staff were extremely helpful. we had a problem with our fridge one day and within the hour the technical services had been to sort the problem.
I think it is also a bonus that within the hotel there are four English speaking girls all willing to help when there is a problem. The manager of the hotel is also very friendly and speaks extremely good English.
We don’t know if were will go back to Marmaris as we like to try different places every year but if we do we will definitely book the Mehtap hotel.
Submitted By: Mrs V StevensonThe hotel itself is fine. The rooms are serviced daily and the accommodation is fine, although the room my children shared had rather grubby walls with all sorts of unidentified substances smeared on them!
The pool was the biggest let down. It is not cool or sparkling either. Most of the guests were quite happy to swim in it, but on the few occasions we ventured into the pool it was lukewarm, cloudy and due to a highly inadequate filtration system had a collection of hair etc floating on the surface. We reported this to the Rep, but although it was looked into nothing changed and we looked longingly at the pools in the neighbouring complexes where the water was clear and the bottom of the pool could be seen at all times. On our last day at the hotel we looked down from our 4th floor room at the people swimming in the pool and could not even see their legs through the cloudy water...very unhealthy!!
The hotel attracted a "yob" element into our 2nd week and we had to contend with loutish behaviour in the pool as well as the doors of the elevator being kicked in on the 2nd floor, which rendered the lift unusable for a day or two.
A complete let down after a wonderful stay in Santorini last year at a superb hotel with a lovely clean, cool clear pool that was available to swim in until 10pm! The Mehtap pool is closed over for the night at 5pm so that they can have their various raucous stage acts which are really not very good. I'm sure the guests would far rather swim until the early evening and have a nice quiet meal at the hotel steak house, rather than attempt to have a conversation over the racket!
We will certainly not book another holiday like this, but look at self catering in a villa in order to get away from the bad behaviour and noise we experienced on this holiday.
Marmaris is a lovely destination with beautiful scenery and we had some wonderful days out when we hired a boat and explored the coves and swam in the aquamarine water away from the rowdy crowds. The Turkish people are very friendly especially those from the outlying areas. The pushy shop owners and restaurateurs do get to be a bit much especially as we all love to browse in shops without the overt hassle that occurs in every single shop even as you just walk past!!! We went on the ferry to Rhodes for the day and what a difference...! You could shop with ease and browse and really enjoy just soaking up the experience of being in such a different culture.
I would recommend the Mehtap if you like holidaying in a night club! But if you want a good break where you have the option of going to nightclubs and staying up until all hours then the Mehtap is not the hotel for you. You will come back home tired and a bit fed up!
Would have Enjoyed my time there More with a bit more help from hotel staff, I and numerous other families had the task of arguing with hotel staff/management to secure the sleeping arrangements we all had booked and paid for. Plenty of families were given two single beds to sleep on and told to push them together to sleep two adults and one child or in my case one adult and two children. Don’t be short changed you’ve paid for it so insist on one bed per person.

Drinks and meals at the hotels two bars and restaurants are not cheap and walk a few yards in either direction to find more choice at a better price look before you leap lots to choose from. air conditioning broke twice whilst there took 6 complaints and five days to resolve and really needed it as it averaged between 100F and 110F in August.

Power supply went off briefly twice, toilet broke once reported twice took two days to fix, reported broken light bulb in bathroom twice still not replaced after three days. Worst point for families is I booked the Mehtap for the children’s pool and beachfront location but to my horror the children’s pool has been filled in leaving one pool with no shallow end (approx 5.5ft deep) Whilst staying there a waiter thought it would be funny to push my 8 year old son in the pool who cannot swim, I didn’t laugh!

The beach is only yards away from the hotel and is lovely but alas not sandy but stony and a but uncomfortable on your feet. Hotel was really clean and well located. Breakfast is Turkish and didn’t like (olives, bread, cheese etc) so had breakfast at Kaplans every morning (turn right out of hotel and right again) Full English for 2 pounds. Air conditioning costs approx 45 pounds for two weeks and safety deposit box cost approx 10 pounds for two weeks. Beware not all rooms have excellent sea views as stated in holiday brochures and some rooms overlook next hotels kitchen and rubble so don’t be conned.

To summarise nice hotel if you get the right room and service , don’t put up with second best and don’t accept any less than you have paid for, but most of all enjoy the location and wonderful views when you wake of a morning (sea view). Pool now has a sliding cover which doubles as a stage for evening entertainment, you will be hassled to vacate pool at approx 4.30pm which in my opinion in the very hot weather is too early and will leave you frustrated with the surrounding hotel pools left uncovered all night.

I stayed there for two weeks and every night found somewhere different to eat and drink more cheaply. A bottle of water at the poolside 1.09 but fifty yards away 0.22 pounds at the corner shop. Be wise don’t be ripped off, Enjoy your holiday!
Submitted By: Mr S C Mr S CunninghamFortunately were all extremely pleased with the standards of not just the hotel but the personnel of the staff. We were overjoyed to find two English girls working in the hotel who both helped us with anything we needed and made our holiday that little bit more enjoyable.
Situated outside the hotel are two restaurants. one international and one Chinese restaurant serving lovely food and providing an excellent service throughout the day. (Paul - excellent head waiter!!!). The prices were very reasonable so this was the first holiday we actually went home from with money left over!!!!!!!
We found the hotel extremely clean with the housekeepers providing an excellent service. Most days they would leave bunches of flowers on the dressing tables and beds! We honestly could not believe how kind and friendly everyone who worked at the hotel were. We found by the end of the holiday we had made friends with them all and will keep in contact through out the winter.
My one complaint is only that it was just too hot! But thank you to all at the Mehtap hotel. will definitely see you all next year!!!
