Mehtap Hotel, Marmaris
Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
The Mehtap Hotel is located directly on the beautiful sandy beach of Marmaris, just 300 metres from the centre of the resort. Despite being on the beach the Mehtap hotel still has it's own cool, refreshing swimming pool if walking across the road is too much for you.Nearby Hotels Viewed by Other Travellers
Mehtap Hotel Reviews
" I've been to Turkey before but never... "
Submitted By: Miss K MattinsonThe wedding on the boat went amazingly however I was looking forward to coming off the boat and going back to the hotel. The location is perfect! It is directly on the beach front with loads of bars and restaurants to hand!
The people at the Mehtap were so friendly! We already new the Turks were friendly but this was unbelievable! They were constantly asking how our wedding plans were going and how many days were left, they genuinely seemed interested!
The food in the hotels restaurant (Baccus) was out of this world, I recommend the Turkish dish, Ottoman Special! It was Fantastic! Most of the people who came out with us had never been abroad before, but some are even looking at going back there in September.
Their flight had been delayed so didn't arrive at the hotel until around 1am, which we then stayed up at restaurant till 4am. The bar was supposed to close at 2am but because they had been delayed they stayed open especially for them and refused others.
It was a fantastic holiday and made some lovely friends, can't wait to go back to see Steven, Charlie and Benji and all the others that names I can't remember! The entertainment finished at 1am and all the music got turned down then and finished at 2am, so it’s not too bad in my opinion for anyone of any age! I love this place!

We used the sun beds on beach outside Santana bar which is just along from Mehtap, staff are very nice there.
The cream bar is very nice also on beach front a bit further along Mustafa the owner is nice and Erkan one of the waiters is lovely he took us for the best chicken kebabs ever!!

" This was a holiday chosen as a... "
Submitted By: Mrs T DimblebeeMy husband didn't want to go as he never liked the idea of Turkey, but after our stay he loved it, we are hoping to get back in Sept if not then next year.
The staff were great and accommodation good, but we also had approx £10 added to our bill when eating at the Buchhas restaurant, therefore we spent most nights eating in the Ries bar, just a walk over a little bridge where Ricardo and Akhim make you so welcome and give special deals e.g. kids eat free, free garlic bread and first drink, they are a double act and definitely worth a visit.
The Angel restaurant on the main road behind Methap serves English breakfast with pork sausage (not hotdog sausage) and there evening meals were fab, large portions and very good value.
The Tajh Mahal Indian restaurant on the main road strip was a fantastic as they say and the food was better than home Indians.
One thing I definitely recommend is a Turkish bath, what an experience.

" Nice welcome from the locals and... "
Submitted By: Mr F LoyThe half board basis was ok if you like chicken but other things on the menu were excellent. Local entertainment to be recommended.
Room was tidy and looked after by cleaning staff, we had a TV in the room but not very clear picture.
Water was cold some nights but was on the whole ok.

" If you are looking for a loud, noisy... "
Submitted By: Mrs T CrossMy partner & I have just spent 2weeks there & we didn’t get to bed any one night till way after 2am.
The music is unbearably loud from the Methap hotel & if you're unlucky enough to have a room near the front, then the music from the 60's & 70's bar is just as loud & goes on even later.
The rooms are clean & comfortable but the pool was dirty & there were only 12 sunbeds around the pool area, so if you had a lie in from the blaring music all night you wouldn’t get a sunbed.
The hotel food & drinks in the Bacchus restaurant are extremely expensive & that’s without what the waiters add on top of your bill!
All in all we would recommend this hotel for club 18 - 30's not for couples, families or pensioners.

" What can I say, this was the best... "
Submitted By: Mrs A WilkinsonAs soon as we arrived the rooms were all ready for us, they were very clean and tidy. The cleaner came every day the towels were always changed.
The pool is quite small but the beach is about 10 metres away, so didn’t use the pool anyway.
If you go use the beach outside the 'old batros bar' this is owned by the hotel. The staff there are brilliant you are entertained and waited on all day the manager Gerrard is lovely and then you have gino, Alex, Lopez, and apo to entertain you they're the funniest people ever.
There are lots of brilliant bars and the people are so lovely black mirror bar, bar x, beach club are just a few of them.
I can’t wait to go back!

" This was our 1st time in turkey. The... "
Submitted By: Mrs S MastersWhen we arrived in the early hours after a long delay, we had been booked into the wrong room which was frustrating.
We had 2 hot showers each out of 14, even though we mentioned this to the manager nothing materialised!
The food was lovely but not much choice for half board customers, we were offered chicken, chicken, chicken and chicken! We clucked on the way home, although once we suggested to the main manager that there needed to be a half board menu, we were not offered anything!
The one good comment I do have about the Mehtap was that the staff were fabulous and friendly especially Billy and Zac!
We took my 9yr old on holiday with us and they were so friendly with him. I felt at ease and felt quite trusting with them around him!

" I have been to many places, however... "
Submitted By: Miss K AylettWe did not have one bad meal in the Bacchus or Red Dragon Restaurants and we ate in them everyday for the two weeks we were away.
The location is excellent as well, right on the beach front and in the middle of everything within Marmaris.
We have never said that we will return to a Hotel before, we are already arranging our holiday to Mehtap for next year. We can not wait.

" Came back from the Mehtap Hotel on... "
Submitted By: Miss P GrugenThe owner Ihsan and staff do there best to make you welcome and make sure you have a great holiday. The Bacchus and the Red Dragon restaurant owned by the hotel were very good. Big hello to Justin from the Red Dragon who was really nice. The Bacchus has a Drag show on every night which is really good but it is the same thing every night which is quite disappointing.
I would also recommend you go to the Hairdressers inside the hotel as it is really cheap and he does a great job. The Cousins bar which is 2 doors down from the Hotel is really good big hello to Mehmet, Erhan, Samet and the other bar staff. If you’re looking for a lively hotel then I would definitely recommend the Mehtap Hotel.

" Arrived on 7/10/06 and given a room... "
Submitted By: Mrs S MitchellWe went to breakfast which was served in the Bacchus restaurant that day. I would not even have a hot drink because every cup had a chip out of it and were dirty. The boiled eggs looked as if they had been used in a juggling act, not very appetising at all. We had brought our own tea bags and bought some mugs so that we could at least have a drink first thing in the morning. We even had to buy a teaspoon as one day there was only 1 between everyone. The staff looked bored and weren't helpful at all. However, we have been to Marmaris quite a number of times and chose this hotel for its location. Right on the beach within easy reach of the marina it's a great spot.
We used The Old Batross 60's 70's & 80's bar previously and had such great fun we just had to go back. Ali and all the staff make you very welcome and make sure you have a good time. Sophie, Ali's English girlfriend is a brilliant singer and stars in the cabaret at the Bacchus. So the Mehtap was an ideal base being practically next door to it. I would recommend the iskender kebab and the sea bass at La Vita which is next door to the Bacchus. Other good places are Papillion and the Rovers Return. I am not sure I would stay at the Mehtap again unless they cleaned it up and the staff had personality transplants.
We stayed in the Ketenci hotel which is classed as a 3 star hotel in June this year which is just round the corner and is far superior with helpful, funny staff, who are eager to please you, and the air conditioning is free which is an added bonus. We will be returning to Marmaris next year as we have made so many friends over the years, and the resort itself has something for every age group.

" My husband & I have been visiting... "
Submitted By: Mrs D TerrakThe room had one double & a single bed with TV and a clean fridge which is a bonus for chilling your drinks I only have a few comments about the Mehtap one being they should remove all the carpets everywhere & replace with tiles like other hotels as it was quite shabby & the air conditioning was the most expensive we have ever paid £25 for the week, & although all rooms do have a sea view they are not all at the front of the hotel so like our room it was on the side, you could see the sea but you were also looking at the hotel next to you so whenever you went out on the balcony you would be looking straight into someone else’s balcony & room of the hotel next door, apart from these small details we will book the Mehtap again for next year. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help you.
The location is brilliant about 15mins walk to the harbour to the left & about 15min walk to the right for the clubs & bars. If I may just mention if you want a very friendly bar & free sun bed everyday with no hassle to buy food & drink all day then go the beaches karaoke bar it is the last bar on the beach strip if you were walking to the Harbour or the first bar if you were walking back from the harbour, we have been going there for the last six years it is a family run bar & very friendly you can have breakfast there & food all day, in the evening they open up the restaurant they do cocktails dancing & karaoke they have an outside & air conditioned inside for after 1.00am when you can carry on partying until the early hours Suleman is the most genuine friendliest person we have ever met.
The Turkish people make up for everything else with their humour, personalities & kindness they always try to do their very best to make you happy they work very long hours for small, small pay and always have a smile, you have to appreciate you are in a different country with a lot of culture and as long as you respect them they will respect you. Have a great holiday in Marmaris at the Mehtap.

Submitted By: Miss K JarvisWe were at the drop in bar on the beach front every night, the lads there were amazing, great dancers. Turkey is by far my best holiday. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel but everything else was fantastic.

Submitted By: Miss P PullanMehtap is on the beach front with lovely restaurants on the sides, they have a nice swimming pool. The food was lovely and they had lovely rooms with fantastic views. The staff were very friendly and they were always making sure that you were fine, and had no problems. When you are relaxing on the beach the staff are always around you and asking if you want drinks or if anything is needed.
They made you feel at home and I would recommend the Turkish experience to everyone, as for another holiday, I would not hesitate to go back, I would be ready to back right now if I could and I would stay in the same hotel!

The guys are smart and great entertainers. The hotel restaurant very good, a visit to the Chinese underneath the hotel is a must, good value for money.
Location of hotel is fantastic no matter which way you walk, being beach front there is all sorts of entertainment. Lots of pubs clubs restaurants and fantastic views.
This was our 8th year in Marmaris but first time in Mehtap, and will not be the last.
We are on our way back in Aug and please please a visit to 60s 70s bar next door is a must.
Big thank you to ali and staff who made our holiday and to all Turkish people or should I say friends.
