Hotel Description:

The Mehtap Hotel is located directly on the beautiful sandy beach of Marmaris, just 300 metres from the centre of the resort. Despite being on the beach the Mehtap hotel still has it's own cool, refreshing swimming pool if walking across the road is too much for you.

" Just back from a weeks stay at the... "

Just back from a weeks stay at the Mehtap and had the best week ever. This was my 3rd time staying at the Mehtap and definitely wont be the last :D

Hotel is in great location just on the beach front which is local to all the main bars/nightclubs restaurants etc. Rooms are of a good standard, cleaned everyday by very nice and polite maids.
The only downfall is the carpets which will be removed for next season and marble will be laid :)
Staff at the hotel are awesome and will do anything to acquire you needs.

Bacchus restaurant which is also owned by the hotel offers a very nice range of food and great service. All the staff there are also awesome BIG HELLO to Charlie, Billy, Mehmet, Irfan, Whiteboy, Octay, Sonny and everyone else who made our holiday the best ever :D

Every night they have entertainment in the hotel. Bella Beserk the queen of visual comedy. Bella does a different act every night so you don't get bored of hearing the same thing. Had us in stitches most nights. We would always start off our night in here. Entertainment finishes at 1am just in time to head down to bar-x and all the main nightlife. If your an early bedder then sorry guys but don't think this hotel is really for you :) .

Well everyone at the Mehtap and Bacchus thanks for making our holiday the best and hope to see you all next year.

And also a big thanks to Ishan the hotel manager, and will be in touch soon to book for next year :D:D

" I have been going to Turkey the past... "

I have been going to Turkey the past seven years, and this has been one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

Overall the hotel was filthy, breakfast in the morning was a disaster e.g. dishes, plates, were barely washed. An eggshell had been laying on the floor; we counted a total of 3 days before it was lifted.

We complained on the first day, and after that all staff were completely ignorant to us. Every night as we passed their restaurant the tortured us to come and eat there, we told them if was anything like the breakfast, we were staying away.

Rooms had no towels; we were constantly asking the maid each day for fresh towels.

Corridors and stairs had rubbish there, that wasn’t dealt with until days later.

We made the best of it as we found a number of lovely bars and restaurants in the area, were the people and food were excellent. I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking about going there; it’s in dire need of a transformation.

However, Marmaris is a beautiful resort; we met lovely Turkish people, who obviously did not work at the Mehtap hotel.

I will return to Marmaris with friends, but I certainly will not be staying at the Mehtap hotel.

" My daughter and I stayed at the... "

My daughter and I stayed at the Mehtap for 2 weeks this August.

The hotel itself was clean and the room was kept spotless, the room had carpet which was dirty and tread bare and the fridge went off when the room was empty due to the locking system of the door. Air conditioning is a must in high season at a cost of £45 for 2 weeks and a safety deposit box at £20 for 2 weeks.

Breakfast was very basic, dry bread, cheese and tomatoes and the tea and coffee tasted the same. The food in the Baccus restaurant was ok but would not choose to eat there every night. Now the staff at the restaurant were very intimidating every night making us feel awkward because we chose to eat at different places rather than their restaurant, as as we purposely booked b&b so we had that choice. One night our children was sat on the wall watching the show and was told to f*** off because we were not drinking there, nice. The show was same most nights, to watch once was enough and it finished every night at 1am.

The hotel has a pool which the first few days was green and not very tempting, I counted on a good day 13 sun beds for a 80 bedroomed hotel and no parasols. The children spent most of their day in the pool but come 16.30 they were turfed out so the staff could get the stage ready for the evenings entertainment, the stage was over the pool.

The adults chose the beach where there were free sunbeds and parasols, but there's a catch, you are expected to buy food and drink from the hotel you have already paid to stay at to get the benefits. One day we were looked after by Mohamed the beach boy and he came and took my parasol which I had been under several hours, when I asked him where he was taking it he replied " its a business they buy more drinks " what could I say I was gobsmaked, hence we moved down to the next doors bar Lavita who were fantastic.

All in all the holiday was great, hotel was fantastic location straight out onto the beach and superb weather. I doubt I will be returning to the Mehtap Hotel but will definitely be going back to Marmaris.

" I am shocked to see the good reviews... "

I am shocked to see the good reviews on this hotel, all I can say is that people must not have stayed anywhere else in Marmaris.

Arrived at the Mehtap at around 5.30 in the evening, first impressions were not good as the reception was dirty.

Went to our room which was absolutely filthy, the carpets were black with dirt....I put the bed covers on the floor so I didn't need to walk on them......it made no difference to the bed covers as they were dirty too!

The breakfast room was disgusting; once you had found a clean cup without a chip in it you had to sit on a table where the tablecloths had not been washed since the beginning of the season.

The pool was not cleaned once whilst we were there (2 weeks). You could not see the bottom of the pool for the dirt and grime, there were 6 sunbeds, the hotel has over 50 rooms! I would not even dip a toe in incase it fell off!

If you want a quiet holiday do not stay here, the show at night is horrendous, same cheap crude jokes night after night, it's not even good, its rubbish.

If you do not spend money in the hotel’s restaurant, the staff and owners ignore you and are rude.

This hotel is all about the show and how much money you can spend, not the hotel guests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are used to living in a dirty hovel!

" We have been home for 2 weeks, and... "

We have been home for 2 weeks, and already want to go back!
The hotel was brilliant. Room was cleaned daily, we had a beautiful sea view, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great location, situated right on the beach front.

The hotel came alive at night. The staff had everyone up on there feet.
All you could hear till closing was laughing and singing! We felt right at home!

The first word they said when we arrived at the hotel was 'welcome home kids'
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We will be back with the family next year - cannot wait!

" If you want a nice holiday don't go... "

If you want a nice holiday don't go to MBN apartments!

Marmaris was lovely, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, except
for where we stayed. It was filthy dirty, never cleaned. The owners took a mood on if you went out and weren’t spending your money with them. When we were leaving they blocked our way to get more money out of us for the cleaner (who never cleaned!).

The owners sat around all night as they were in bed most of the day! They were not bothered about noise from the other guests as long as they got their money.
The pool was never cleaned and both my kids came home with ear infections from that disgusting pool! They never cut the trees so we had branches all over the balcony and bugs from the trees were all over the windows!

We’d go back to Marmaris but stay well clear of MBN apartments.

" Just spent a fantastic week in... "

Just spent a fantastic week in Marmaris. Now for the Mehtap Hotel, the room was basic and clean and only what you would expect for a 3 star hotel. The hotel staff were a bit rude in my first impression, then got more friendly at the end of our week. Air-con was 25 pounds for the week, which was brilliant as we so needed it considering it was in the 90's.

Location of this hotel is fantastic; the beach is right on the doorstep with sunbeds and a waiter to tend to all your needs. The restaurant is also good with food of a very high standard. All I can say if you didn’t like the food on the menu you must be a very fussy person indeed. The Turkish waiters are so friendly and very helpful and they cant do enough for you, totally professional.

The entertainment was Bella Berserk, a drag queen which was a great laugh on our first night. We didn’t want to see the same thing every night so we choose to try out all the others bars and found a great one called Dr Angel's 60's, 70's and 80's bar.

So all I can say is the Mehtap Hotel is a perfect location and the food is superb - visit this hotel if only for that purpose.

" I have visited Turkey 5 times and... "

I have visited Turkey 5 times and have always had a nice place to stay but this year was a great disappointment!! It was like Faulty Towers!

We arrived at 6:30 am and were shown to our room that had 2 single beds on the 2nd floor considering there were 3 adults!! Told reception about this & he said it was because we requested a sea view room! We then got moved to the 4th floor and oh my god!! The carpet was meant to be yellow and it was Black! Yuck! Our room had a view of the restaurant’s kitchen next door! We decided not to eat there!!

The swimming pool was Filthy & warm. I wouldn’t even let my dog in there! It was a green murky colour and I never seen it get cleaned once! It broke for 2 days during our stay. There is no baby pool and the shallow end is deep! It closed about half 4 so the lads could sent up for the show at night, which if your working men’s club sort of people then you will enjoy it if not then you will only stay for a few minutes!

The lift I suggest you don’t use it broke down twice with us in it, which was very scary. The 1st time was on arrival and luckily my Dad pulled the inner doors and they came open but the outer door didn’t my dad had to lift a catch and the whole thing opened! The 2nd time just me and my mum as I pulled the door Thank the lord both came open but this time we was half a meter of the floor the staff thought it was funny but it was more a case of danger!!

The staff was rude and got annoyed if you didn’t eat and drink there.
The Plug sockets are hanging off the walls and each room and a picture outside have a look behind them!! Nice!!

I could go on forever writing about the Methap but if I was you I'd stay else where it is awful!!

I hope you have a nice holiday where ever you stay!

"  Well reading some of these reviews... "

Well reading some of these reviews makes me feel as if I stayed at another hotel!

We arrived about 8 O Clock at night. Was informed the air conditioning was another £25 per week and the safety deposit box was a tenner. Went to our room which was smaller then we were used to. Put air conditioner on, and found it was near useless.

The £25 would have been better spent on a fan! The bathroom had a shaver socket hanging from the wall and we twice had to ask for toilet rolls from reception as the maid seems to think you can make do with one roll (for two people) for a week!

The carpets are dingy and altogether the room looked depressing.

The hotel serves a Turkish breakfast which is not to my liking but could be to other people.

The pool area is small, but this did not concern us as we spent our time on the beach, literally 20 yards from the hotel.

The beach boy, while you are on the beach, will cater for all your eating and drinking needs.

The hotel has a drag queen act on every night. If you are a light sleeper you will not be able to get to sleep before 1 O Clock. The show is very loud!

The Mehtap is however positioned perfectly. It is central for everything, and this is probably the best thing about it.

All in all I was not particularly impressed with this hotel and would not recommend it. Having now been to Marmaris and looked around, you should be able to find a more suitable hotel. Price we paid £390 each B & B (plus £25 for the air conditioning!)

" I’ve been to Marmaris twice now and... "

I’ve been to Marmaris twice now and stayed at the Methap this time and it was brilliant!!! We were on a b&b board although the breakfast was not the best it was ok, and that’s the only thing I can fault with this hotel.

The staff were amazing so friendly and happy all the time, nothing was too much trouble they went and fetched your drinks and went you are getting ready they will bring them to your room for you.

Great beachfront location although I never went on it, I went in the pool everyday which was big, the only downfall its all one depth which is nearly 6 foot so I had 2 get my little boy a boat to float round on, another thing I found nice was the staff were always really good with my son always playing games with him dancing and joking about with him they all loved him.

Entertainment was brilliant!! Bella beserk the drag queen was brilliant she did a different act every night so it never got boring, there was also break dancers they were great to and the singers Barry and Sarah were great too.

All in all it was a lovely, lively, clean and friendly hotel!! I would defiantly go back because you’re made to feel so welcome; I had many a night up till gone 4 chatting to the staff there.

Brilliant holiday, brilliant hotel, and brilliant people!!!!

" Last year was our third time to... "

Last year was our third time to turkey, and 1st staying in Mehtap!

The year before we stayed in the Mert which didn’t have much to offer, the staff weren’t very helpful and the sea view we had to look sideways! Then in 2006, me and my mum arranged to go with friends from up north, this year we would broaden our choices and found the Mehtap.

Looking at the reviews and information the hotel offered we thought it would be a perfect choice, as me 15 and Tara turning 16, the hotel arranged a surprise for her birthday! They provided drinks and all the waiters harmonised together singing "happy b-day" then they all threw her up in the air and wished her the best, the manager ishan is very helpful, he’s funny and tries his best to give the best possible service.

Any problems will be sorted out that day and the waiters are lively, entertaining, helpful, charming and are great people. The bedrooms are standard size with sliding wardrobes; the bathroom is clean quite spacious.
The room depending on where you’ve stated to stay can have a beach view which is amazing, overlooking the bachus restaurant and pool, you can see cruise ships and mountains, and the beach in itself is beautiful with sun loungers and umbrellas provided.

For anyone that has a taste for ice cream, a short walk to the restaurant you will find some :) along the promenade are many clubs restaurants, which offer something for people with different tastes, last year when I stayed in the hotel Bella beserk provided an entertainment show which included me singing some Jlo and Britney songs. The food is delicious; the people are so friendly and will help as much as they can.

At night time there is allot of noise but last year being 15 wasn’t a problem. Many takeaway places provide food until early hours of the morning, and all restaurants had different themes and the people different characters staying in the Mehtap was a brilliant experience as staying there only once we hope to go there this august.

This will be our forth time to Marmaris and hopefully not the last, its a second home and being there they are very welcoming people, after being there 3 times me and Tara still cant wait to go.

And honestly to anyone who had read bad reviews on this hotel, there isn’t anything bad about it because if problems occur or situations get out of hand they will be dealt with, and if I didn’t like the hotel I wouldn’t be going back, its far from bad and close to excellent!!!!

All those who made our holiday worthwhile in the hotel, hope to see you again.

" We have just returned from 14 nights... "

We have just returned from 14 nights at the Mehtap, and are booking (via Ishtan, the owner) to go back for a week in September. It's in a great beachfront location and is perfectly situated to explore Marmaris in all directions.

We lost count of the number of people we spoke with who had stayed at the Mehtap before, and were coming back again in the future.

We could not fault the hotel, room was basic (as expected in a 3 star) but spotlessly clean, and everything worked, with maid service every day. Service in the Bachus restaurant, whether for breakfast, snacks, or dinner, was terrific, and food was of a very high standard.

The show finishes at 1.00am, and the noise from the 60s'/70s'/80s' bar quietens down at the same time (bar closes at 2.00am) we were rarely in our room prior to 1.00am and had no problem whatsoever with noise.

Staff were all fantastic, hello to Geordie, Charlie, Billy, and Michael, Film Star, Excuse Me, and all the rest of the lads, who do everything possible to look after you and make you feel welcome.

Spent most days on the hotel beach where Mohammed (Alex) looked after us all day long. Sorted (free) sunbeds and parasol, drinks, snacks, all to your sunbed and always with a big happy smile.

Would recommend the Dilek bar (turn left outside hotel and first bar as you cross the bridge, only 30 yards or so) where the staff create an amazingly friendly atmosphere. Regards to Hakan, Ali, Sonny, and all who made a fuss of our 16 year old son, always laughing and joking with him (we were even invited to Hakans' wedding in the bar whilst we were there and had a great night.

The standard of food in every restaurant we ate in was of the highest possible quality, and very reasonably priced. Look for the Full Monty Restaurant, 5 course set menu, with fillet steak, for 18.50 YTL (£7.50) with large beer 2.00 YTL (under £1.00) We ate in 11 different restaurants during our stay and were never less than totally satisfied.

All in all the Turkish people we met proved to be the friendliest and most likeable you could ever wish to find. I genuinely believe that they would take it as a personal insult if you are not enjoying yourself.

If you're looking for a perfectly positioned and reasonably priced 3 star hotels, with good basic facilities and a warm and friendly atmosphere, then stay at the Mehtap, you won't regret it. We're going back in 6 weeks, and fully intend to go back again next year.

" This hotel offers a great location... "

This hotel offers a great location for the beach during the day, but turns into a Blackpool type "Golden mile" in the evening. The room was clean with a good sea view, however the air conditioning and safe is charged at £35 for the week and with last weeks temp getting into the mid forties it was the only way to survive.

The breakfast is basic and the same each morning. Hygiene was poor at breakfast with grubby cups and plates but we had no ill effects.

We decided to eat out each night at the marina end of town where the restaurants are in a much nicer location and attract a more sophisticated clientele.

The main criticism of this hotel was the cabaret which was very loud tasteless repetative and would be more at home in a back street men’s club than family entertainment in what was a good value budget hotel.

The staff were very polite and helpful. So to sum up our holiday it was good value, the hotel was fine in the day, but just so noisy in the evening.
