I went to turkey for three weeks and stayed at the mahtap, i found that it was clean and tidy. i would'nt recommend this hotel for small children/babys as the acts are quite noisy, there are 6 different acts each week and i used to like watching them from my balcony. the veiw from te balcony is brillant and a great location as it is in the middle of lots of great bars. we had tea in the mehtap quite a few times and it was apsolutly fine. the best is the sunday roast! and im quite fussy.. thankyou for the lovely service. will be goin back next year.

the past 5 years we are always a party of 8 persons or more
the management have always being excellent with us ,
food is first class,we have tried others,and you will not better
the views from your rooms ,all sea views,the location is
a must if you are not to good on mobility right on beach

We were rather surprised to find that the swimming pool featured in the Hotel photograph had been drastically reduced in size to accomodate a large stage. There were very few loungers and those that were there were hastily put away in the afternoon to make room for yet more tables and chairs for the bar/restaurant. This bar seems to have taken over the hotel. Each night there was an extremely loud cabaret from 9>00 pm until 1>00 am and sleep was virtually impossible. The 'star' of the show was a drag act - parents were warned that the show contained 'adult humour' (or words to that effect) but each and every swear word and sexual comment could be plainly heard in the bedrooms, even with the door firmly closed. And the jokes were so old they probably do not even feature in Xmas crackers anymore.
Having said this, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and I certainly cannot blame them for the mess that has been made of this so called 3 star hotel.

The rooms were clean and tidy and we had a good sea view, but it was impossible to sleep before 1 - so loud music in the hotel restaurant. Pool very very small. Not hotel for families with child.

I have stayed with my husband and family many times at the methap hotel,over the last 5 years. I have always found the hotel to be clean and the rooms are cleaned daily. for a 3 star hotel I have found the location top class and the service excellent.
The management and staff are excellent at all times, the food is always good and the service also. On reading some of the total rubbish of the statements on here one wonders were they at the same hotel as I stayed in. As for the comments about the pool I have never seen this to be dirty.
We will be going again, hope to see our friends there from all parts of the UK who go back year after year, sort of speaks for itself really.

My husband and I went to the Mehtap because of the fabulous location. We have been to Marmaris on 8 occasions and this has got to be the worst hotel there.
What a shock! The room and corridors were filthy with shabby dirty carpets. A broken glass was left by the pool for 2 days before being kicked against the wall.
The lift was never working and also the hairdryer and air con. The handyman sent to fix them was also in the hairdressers by day-he thought kicking the lift door would fix it!
On complaining to the manager about our dirty room he said "if you don't like dirty don't come again" Best advice he could have given us!!
We had booked bed and breakfast but tried it on the first day-never again.

I have been to methap hotel for the last 2 years running for my holidays, as my mum and sister have been going to methap hotel twice a year for the past 5 years.
The staff are very friendly, helpful, caring and help make your holiday the best ever.
The rooms are very clean and decorated to a high standard, spacious with the best views of the beach, sea and bar street. the views from your balcony are breath taking.
The hotel is situated right in the centre of marmaris and is close to all amenities. but the best thing we liked, is that it is situated right on the beach.
We used to eat in the hotel restaurant every night, never had a bad meal, the service was great, the food was excellent.
We also found the hotel exchange rate was the best around. If you want excursions the staff are willing to help organise them.
We are looking forward to our next holiday in methap hotel

To all the people who are going to this hotel ignore all the terrible comments and judge for yourself as these people must normally stay in 5* hotels and not experienced turkey and its delights before.
The hotel was clean and rooms were immaculate (maids came every day)we had a fantastic view from our room dont expect a full english breakfast as you get a basic turkish one (as you get in every other hotel in turkey!!)
Bella was brilliant so was denny!! and you didnt hear a thing after 1am every night
Its about 5 steps from the hotel to the beach (what more can you ask for)
saftey deposit boxes were very safe as you needed 2 keys to get into them and be the incredible hulk to steal them (impossible)! and our air conditioning/electric stayed on 24/7 it was great as we needed it temp hit 57 degrees one day and it wasnt below 45 the whole fortnight!!
No complaints whatsoever!!
Will definitely be back next year!!

Me and my mates stayed at the mehtap hotel for a week,we really enjoyed staying there. rooms were nice n clean, maid came in every day to clean rooms and give clean towels.Every1 that worked there was so helpfull and you could have a right laugh wiv them al.boys at the bar were extra nice n very good looking. i will definitly be going back next year n staying at the same hotel.

i have read some of the comments about the hotel and thought that had to do a review for myself.i have never been to turkey before and only came to viist some friends on my way back home to austraila travelling through europe.my friend are living in the resort and they recommended the hotel to me.what a good choice. i was very well looked after by everyone at the hotel. i cant believe how friendly turkish people can be.
i only stayed for 5 days and eat most days at the hotel resturant and never oncew had a bad meal. the rooms were clean and tidy and i had a fanastic sea view.
the evenings enertainment was very funny- very different to what we get back home and what a laugh i had in the 60s and 70s bar next door.
thank you for a great 5 days and if i am ever back in turkey i will defýnatley come back

i have been going to the mehtap hotel for many years now and have found no problems. The rooms are very clean fresh towels everyday . The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them . The service is very good. i would recconmend this hotel to anyone with out any fear of them not likeing it. and am going back again later this year!

My first holiday as a single parent and I chose the Mehtap as I had stayed there previously with freinds and found it safe for kids, with staff who you actually get to be freinds with and cant do enough to make sure your ok. The pool was clean, and the restaraunt was always clean with good food and not bad prices. Beach right on your doorstep with some lovely views when its dusk especially from the balcony.... my kids loved it so much that my eldest two returned this year with a group of freinds and i have recommended it to several people who have been and agree they would happily go again. A relaxing but entertaining place to stay, already booked to return in May 2009...... wouldnt want to stay anywhere else as the location is is great and really good value for money. Ihsan is fabulous host who owns the Hotel and makes you feel like one of the Mehtap family!!! The refurb is great..much nicer than the year before! The 60's bar next door is great for some cheap drinks and music at a decent noise level, fun atmosphere without being too rowdy! I have worked in the travel/hotel industry and can honestly say, this is one of the best value for money, professinally run and cleanest ive been to...great place, great people and doesnt burn a hole in your pocket too much.....love it!

I have stayed here on many occasions and I am very happy with the service that I have received. I am not claiming that the hotel is perfect because it isn't but any problem that arose, I spoke to the manager and he sorted it for me immediately. One year they did put carpets in the rooms that got grubby very quickly. I asked them about the carpets and they had thought that they would make the rooms 'homely' but hadn't anticipated the dirt from peoples shoes becomming ground into the carpet. There are no carpets anymore and the floors are swept and cleaned on a daily basis.
The location is becah front where all the bars and restaurants are. If you are after a quiet hotel where you can sleep before 12pm then i suggest you research the location before you book. You cannot blame the hotel for it's lively atmosphere - blame the travel agent. The drag show is not my cup-of-tea so I drink in the other bar of the hotel that plays 60's and 70's music. The show is not the only option.
We stayed Half Board this year and were pleasantly surprised with the variety available. Some places offer limited menus for their half and full board options but we were handed the same menu as other diners each night. We normally stay B&B which is a Turkish breakfast and you can upgrade for £1 per day to a full English breakfast.
The staff here are very friendly and I would now consider some of them my friends. They remember us by name year on year and offer a warm welcome when we arrive.
I booked my holiday this year through Sun N Sea holidays (www.sunnsea.travel) and can not fault the service i received. They bent over backwards to help me before my holiday and then, whilst i was away I unfortunately needed assistance with the local hospital and they called me every day to see how I got on. They also sent a rep to help with my paperwork and assisted with my insurance claim when I got home. Sun N Sea are very good priced holidays but if on occasions they do quote a little more than some other small travel agents, it is well worth the extra to have the peace of mind that what ever happens during your stay, they will go out of their way to make this better for you. Unlike some agents like Gold.trail
I apologise for the long review but I feel that people need to hear a balanced view and not the irate ramblings of some people who seem to expect 5 star accommodation for 1 star prices. Mehtap is well rated at 3* and the people who work their will do their best to make your holiday an enjoyable one. Show them a friendly smile and they will return it 10 fold.
