Great inexpensive hotel run by lovely people with view over the harbour. Decor much better than standard Greek, with modern aircon, fridge etc.
Restaurants/Tavernas in town are bustling but poor for food quality.
In the old town (Chora), a short bus ride away, the worst example was Paraport - fabulous view, dreadful food, chef with bad attitude and no talent - don't complain about the food here, or you'll be accused of not being hungry!
There are excellent places to eat here (Chora), try the Peri Oraeus over the shop, by the square that the bus drops you - cheap and delicious. Other parts of the island have good tavernas, try the Elonious at Leftos Galos, it's wonderful; Dimitri at Megalo Mourtaki; the Borsalo at Rousoum Galos.
don't expect sandy beaches, there's only one really at Chrissi Millia - some of the pebbly one's though are wonderful.
All in all lovely fairly quiet Greek getaway
